I regularly work with all the foreign missions in India and Indian Missions abroad. I must say that the kind of security and other facilities which the Government of India provides to these diplomats in India, we don’t get even 1% of that in return. It’s high time that our authorities should demand for the same in return.

American embassy use armed guards with shoot on sight orders for any sort of provocation or attack on a foreign country. Indian diplomats with immunity should also use some force.

A few factual corrections, since I live in New Delhi and pass through Chanakyapuri every day for work. The area itself is accessible to the general public and one of Delhi's oldest movie theatres "Chanakya" is quite close to this area, not to mention the Malcha Marg market. Additionally, most Embassies don't have barricades at all, Only four countries - US, UK, China, Pakistan - have barricades right outside the gate only, and it is also more to control traffic and less for actual security. So all in all, removing these barricades has no real meaning, India did the same thing when diplomat Devyani Khobgade was arrested in New York. They removed the barricades from outside the US Embassy (which were later re-installed). I believe India should take more direct action. Ban these countries from Trade expos in India. Restrict their access to the Indian market. Reduce Indian investment in these countries. Many of their politicians claim that Trade and Economic ties are thriving. Why should it thrive?
