Because the ship was a joke. Beyond small. Below average food. Only one show. Which was very average. The crew looked unkept or very very new. I CAN KEEP GOING IF YOU LIKE. For the cost... definitely not worth it.

Even the smallest cruise ship gives you way more room than I had an a USN submarine.
Crew spaces on submarines have to be compact; the boat is mostly water tanks, so we can take on water and submerge to "greater than 800 feet" (that's all we're allowed to say for depth, it's classified).
If you're enlisted paygrade E-1 through E-6, you get a room the size of an office cubicle that you share with 8 other people. (and that's for a Trident (Ohio class), the more spacious type of submarine.
Fast attack boats are smaller....E-1 through E-6 is all in one compact "berthing area", three bunks stacked vertically like on Ohio class, and then another stack of three directly across with maybe 2-3 feet of deck space in between, and this repeats, about 20 sets.
It gets worse....on a fast attack you have to "hot rack", which means you share your bed with two other guys. One sleeps, one is working, the other is studying or doing other stuff, then you rotate. At least we don't have to do that on Tridents lol. :-)
If you're an officer, your room is still the size of an office cubicle, but you only share it with one or two other officers.
So yeah, trust me, this is spacious :-)
