I’m glad a younger generation can appreciate this game, I remember when I bought this at flea market in 1990! I was so excited to buy this game!
Gotta love the runner shooting the buster to the rhythm of the songs. I used to do the same thing, and so did probably everybody else who's ever played this iconic game. This is my childhood. I got my NES in 1989, as a 3yr old who had no idea what it was. Mega Man 2 was the first game I ever took seriously and put a lot of hours into. The music was what did it. I felt like like a hero playing this game as a naive kid.

Those block segments man! I remember as a kid the frustration learning them so I could do them.
28:40 for a time? It took me that to get through Wily 1 when I was younger. Awesome run.
The Mega-Buster is doing more damage to the bosses then I remember.
I think that's because this is the US-added Normal Mode. It makes bosses have less health, but since they can't physically reduce the size of the health bars, they just make the bosses take more damage from everything.

I think it was actually Japan who added normal mode. And that is actually easy mode in Japan, while difficult is normal in Japan. It's their way of thumbing their nose at us
@@mr.platinum696 Nope, that's incorrect. Rockman 2 (The Japanese version of this game) doesn't have a difficulty select on the title screen. It's just text that says "Press Start". The US version is the one that added Normal Mode (Difficult Mode being the same difficulty as Rockman 2)

Still.... looking back and watching that speedrun, its pretty impressive we understood the game and made it that far at that age. I remember us being stuck at 24:25 for weeks/months though ... took some time to figure it out haha.
Edit: Of course we ended up playing the sequels as well. The Megaman X-Series for SNES is still my favorite game series for a reason. Power Rangers, Aladdin, Donkey Kong and Ninja Turtles for SNES are also up there!
I also believe that the mega man music + power rangers/mortal kombat theme had a huge influence on my music taste. I am no hardcore metal head or punk, but those 2 genres are basically the only ones I really enjoy listening to. Thank you for this video, it brings up tons of forgotten memories!

what's up with charging the metal blade? how do you do THAT?
Very good. Try to use bubble lead in the second boss of the castle
I think he used the metal blade so he could hit the boss when it was above him quicker.
Metal Blade is faster since you can hit the parts earlier and even though it takes 2 hits, you can basically fire the 2 shots at the same time. (I'm the guy on the couch btw).
So, the Item 3 despawns in Cl/rash man's stage has to do with their positions relative to the pipe ceilings...

Because the japanese have faster text speed which compensates for the extra hits of the bosses. If difficult was the standard Japan would have the speedrun advantage.

Lag Donkey Poker Videos what are you talking about? this game has no cheats. he is playing it on normal mode because a speedrun is exactly that, a speedrun. you're trying to beat the game as fast as you can. "Normal" is faster than "Difficult"
Except you can clearly see he's cycling between difficulties before starting. Because he's entering a cheat code. I bet that's how he was able to do the things he does in this so called "Speed Run".

You don't know anything about speedrunning. The Japanese have faster text speed which would give them an unfair speedrun advantage if difficult was the standard.
