The single cell biome would’ve been so amazing and would strike so much fear into players. (This is optional but.) if a player were coming by the void or near it. A small cutscene would play where a ghost leviathan is charging towards when suddenly when the leviathan reaches over the edge of the void. Tentacles grab onto it and sends the leviathan screaming/roaring down as it’s roaring can be heard from miles downward until you can’t hear it from how far it is. That would scare the shit out of players as majority of the game think that the leviathans are the most dangerous thing only to have some “thing” to kill it in one shot.

(I'm coping and pasting this from another conversation)
No no no, my friend. Think of it, a single, motionless, black substance that is photosensitive and thus it will "activate" at night and, with sticky extensions of itself, capture and drag to the bottom of the ocean anything that glow. And you can find it - I believe the creature to slowly digesting his preys while they're still alive but unable to do anything - from the small Rockgrub to the Biter (or the Blighter), Mesmers, maybe even Ampeels, everyone and each still alive and kicking. Until, one day, they're not.
But we're not thinking big enough, my friend. This would be the natural predator of the Ghost Leviatan. Possibly it is collocate to the path from the Lost River to the Edge of the map. Can you imagine from a new player point of view?!
You're swimming, nothing strange, some small fishes are being eaten alive under you but until you don't shine a light you'll be fine (imagine the reaction the first time) and, suddenly, this M A S S I V E creature, roaring and trying to swim away. You may even feel a little sad, but it will last only until you try to get to the Active Lava Zone with your beautiful Cyclops and die.
And older players who saw and did everything seeing this. Jack and Mark's reaction knowing what a huge dick those Ghost Leviatans are. Seeing basically the boss of the game defeated, helpless and dying.
This creature could be the answer to "why don't Reapers have bioluminescence?" Because this creature. There's one in this point (with, mercifully, clean water) that act as vulture.
Now, imagine. You find you can't shine any light and everything around you become pitch black when night falls or it gets eaten. The Reaper is roaming and roaring somewhere under you but you don't have the courage to even look. There's a Lifepod or a Large Wreck. You find it and you're going back to safety but then night falls. And you can't see anything in front of you. And the Reaper is roaring.
Where? Who knows, surely not you.

The acid is the Single Cell expelling what's left of its meals, but you don't get to find out at the beginning, you just see them as convenient spots where you can collect some rare materials with the right equipment. It's not until you have to go deeper, and enter the cavern underneath the geysers, that you discover the horrifying truth, and realize if you're not careful, your skeleton will float in acid too.

The Void. An abyss that goes down for miles. Only two forms of life can survive here: Microscopic, and leviathan class. But what if there was something more? Something so large, the PDA had mistaken it for the Sea Floor. Something that's barely living? A massive single celled organism that attacks light, it's hunger insatiable, a living death. The carar took a heavy toll on all life on the planet, and when everything rotted and died, that dead matter was mutated by the carar. Morphing and shifting, fusing and decaying, becoming a living sheet of decay that has no purpose but to add to it's own mass.

If they make a 3rd DLC I want it to be about the void where the character wonders about what's done there, but no one has been able to go down there with any vehicle or base and stay done there for an hour, (Well unless your IGP) and what could be done there could be the acid pillars, the single cell organism, and the water jet streams. And since the place where the first game came out is a volcano there could be other volcanos that are smaller and creatures live around them, and that big leviathan could be living down there dormant, until something wakes it. This could also be an opportunity to finally include the ATLAS sub because it was never implemented for how big it was, while in the void you can fit around 1000 of those subs and still have room to add even more.
While writing this I came up with a new reason as to why the character goes into the void, as a expedition to get to the volcano the first game was set on, so they built the ATLAS sub to get there. Sorry for what might be a wall of text and could have been a comment oh well did this on mobile so can't copy and paste it.

Once I had a dream (yes I have no life and actually dream about games) where I was playing Subnautica. Things were...interesting. I'll cut to the map part though. So I had found an island. Nothing like we've ever seen in the game though. Just a little mound of sand with a palm tree or two. I remember finding massive chunks of the aurora with a much darker and large environment. I think there might have even been a second ship. I do remember some strange plant formations though. If I recall one was a little circle of flat leaves and greenery specifically arranged around a spiky looking tall, thing plant. Anyone find that interesting?

I actually like the concept of the black field, but it doesn't have to be underwater. Have you ever noticed how weirdly and awkwardly the mountain island appears in front of you? (With the floating island it's fine, because it's far enough away for the "cloud" to be nearly seemingless). I think it would be a cool idea to have some kind of a smoker on or near the island which creates thick fog that makes it hard to navigate and prevents you from seeing the island. It wouldn't change anything in the biomes bellow, except perhaps for the water being more murky.

  • @biglad112
    @biglad112 4 года назад +14

It would've been awesome to see the pillars of silence in the crater edge. Because the crater edge is so silent and spooky, that biome perfectly fits that because any animal that goes there gets stuck in the pillars and never return.

The first biome needs to be in another DLC for Subnautica. That sounds really cool to have an area that blinds you, leaving you having to be careful for many kinds of massive and aggressive beasts. They don't all have to be massive, but it would be cool to have more beasts in the game. Also, the Pillars of Silence sounds awesome too. And the final one as well. I think that the plants that were aggressive towards things that make light. I love all of the biomes, but some of them, like the second one is just ridiculous.

The Single-Cell Landscape brings up so many good ideas for how it would interact with the environment and the player in-game. Just picture it!
You’re getting chased by the Ghost Leviathan, and running out of power in your Seamoth/Cyclops. You think you’re done for when you see it: the Aspen (that’s just what I like to call it because Aspen trees work the same way). You quickly turn off your lights and speed in, praying that you could pull the stunt off. Distracted by the thrill of the hunt, the beast rushes in, its jaws opening to deal a killing blow, but it stops in place. It’s ghostly glow has attracted the attention of the hungry creature below. With a bellow, the monstrous creature disappears it’s light dying as it’s pulled down to its death. You keep your lights off and get the hell out of there, thanking the monster below you.
Just a fun thing to think about! :)

    OR

I can imagine some of these "single cell organisms" are scattered deep along the crater's edge. This is because the dead zone is one of the deepest and darkest areas of the game, and also one of hardest to reach and most barren areas too. Ghost Leviathans only survive because countless smaller prey constantly feed off the organism. The organism therefore has adapted to survive off of leviathans and have a huge hatred of light. The walls around the creature could also be covered in valuables, giving the player a small incentive to approach. Can you imagine the dead zone being even darker, until it's almost pitch black, and you hear ghost leviathan screeches and thumps against the crater's wall. Then, you shine a light and see a huge battle against these beasts. Suddenly you and the leviathans chasing you are also pulled into its grasp and devoured. That would be perfect.

  • @michaeljohnson7465

That massive organism.. that would be so damn cool.. imagine that spot being a shortcut to an important area of the map. The only way to get your cyclops to this spot of the map would be to go through the 'shortcut'. And, of course, this spot is pitch black. So that you'd have to get through, without turning on your lights.. and if you did.......

Here's my own concept (4 years later but okey):
It's a deep, dark ocean floor without that much life. It would have a lot of geysers, thermal vents and canyons. It would have an enourmous cave system under which would have biolumenecent (hope i wrote that correctly) vines growing all around. There would be strong currents strong enough to suck your seamoth or prawn deep into the caverns. This place could be in the bottom of the void or something.

... Let me think about these for a second...
Okay... so, the Twisty Bridges Biome would definitely be amazing in my opinion, along with the Infinity Tree and the Pillars of Doom that shoot down your Cyclops. The last one should have definitely been added though. On the very edge of the map, circling the entire playable area. It would be very obvious that it was there though, so that players would know "Oh, crap, I'm near the edge!" instead of just running into the void with no warnings (Because, let's face it, it's really easy to get lost down there because it's so dark).

And below zero implemented quite a few of these items such as the lilypad and twisty bridges biomes

I made my own version of the single cell and cyanian rocks. A giant carnivorous coral. The Diskipain is very sensitive to movement and will slam shut on potential food. The coral consists of one central pillar with smaller branches breaking off of the pillar all the way down to the base. Each branch has at least one disk in it. Nothing can grow except the Diskipains due to their predatory nature and tendency to grow just under the sand. There are, however, small windows through which one can swim safely.

I feel like it would be cool if a single cell biome was a massive blob surrounding the crater (Where the first subnautica took place) and it reaches up with a pitch black tentacle and pulls you in if you get too close. I feel like complete silence would be creepier as well. Maybe make the creature not a creature at all, perhaps a plant?
