      Excellent on studying for your ham license, it's a lot of fun doing amateur radio... the Ft-991 is a great choice, and has all the most used bands. Thanks for watching!

      The Yaesu FT-991A is a sweet all around radio. A "Shack-in-the-Box" indeed!

    Nice review! This is exactly what I am looking for to use for portable operations with my Yaesu FT-897D. I have got to order one!

    Just bought one of these today and found your video, so thanks for the review! I'm running a very similar setup... FT-891, Z-11 Pro (not the II version), and now the 4230MV. Just curious if you're still happy with it now?

      I''m still happy with the power supply, now Apr 2020, I use it a lot in my shack..

    I tried to use a switch mode power supply on a 2m 50 watt rig. It was badly affected by RF from the radio to the point where it was unusable. I wonder how the mfj is internally shielded to prevent this?

      I've never had RF problems from almost all of my modern switching power supplies, including the one in this review. My 19A Radio Shack Power supply caused some high pitch whine on one of my mobile 2m radios.

    Does it generate additional noise for the radio? I mean radio noise, not audio.

      The power supply is very clean and i haven't detected any RFI at all on HF or on VHF UHF

    You can run a radio strait off it? What are the connectors called?

    • @hamradiocomms
      @hamradiocomms  2 года назад

      Yes you can connect your radio to it directly. The connectors are called 5-way connectors because you 1. can use banana plugs, 2 bare wire wrapped around terminal, 3 strait wire connector through a secondary hole in post, 4 u shaped terminals like i have in the video,, not sure of the 5th way.
