I continue to listen to it. I was very close with my Grandfather and I first heard this song shortly after he passed away. So from time to time I wonder what he would think if he could see me now.
One day, I was helping my step grandpa build a porch for his house. We drove to a store that was super far away for some reason to get the kind of brick you needed. Looking back at it, I'm pretty sure it was just an excuse to hang out with me, but it's whatever. Anyway, he only had one leg due to a medical condition that he never payed too much attention to. He was pretty slow because of it, and when it came to actually loading the bricks in his truck, I did most the work, but I did it very willingly, I loved showing how "tough" I was to him, thought it might make him proud. You probably know how grandparents are. We got back in his truck and started back to his house, again, a fairly long drive for a pretty simple task. As we're driving, he looks over to see 15 year old me slightly worn up and catches me playing with some minor but somewhat intriguing cuts on my hand... I was 15 and easily impressed. He must've felt bad for some reason, as he breaks the silence with: "You know, bud... You must think I'm awfully slow. I'm really sorry for that. But, one day, when I'm older and I get up to heaven, I think I'll find a bench and sit down. That way, I can wait on you for a change." He's been in heaven for a few months now. I hope time passes fast up there. I never liked keeping him waiting.

The two women would often look for up and coming bands and would give them a place to stay. on may one of my friends past away during a car crash. it has been 4 months since he's been gone and it's like it was yesterday. i miss you so very much my dear friend Joseph.. the pain never leaves but I've learned to live with it.. how much i miss you.
My best friend was a double lung and heart transplant recipient. The months before her transplant were spent in a hospital bed. Her organs weren't strong enough to provide her what she needed on a daily basis. 5 months she spent waiting, every single day, not knowing if today would be her last, or if it would be the day she received a donor. During those 5 months I went and visited her as much as possible... almost every week and sometimes twice a week even. She told me how she would listen to this song because she thought she was going to die, and it offered her comfort. Well, on that 5th month. She received a donor. His organs granted her 7 more years of life. We had 7 more years of a wonderful unbreakable friendship. We watched each other grow, and learn, and excel in what we wanted. But sadly she passed away, she had be battling organ rejection for quite sometime and her body just couldn't keep up anymore. It'll be 2 years this February, and I still think of her every single day. I still miss her, every single day. And whenever I really want to feel close to her. I'll play this song, and I swear she's sitting next to me, and even though i cry my eyes out I alway comfort in listing to this.

My grandfather passed recently. He lived a long and full life, but all of us weren't ready to lose him. No one was more of a mentor to me than him. I know my pain is selfish. That I miss that I can't call him to talk with him about everything going on in life. I can only hope I can be to my kids what he was for me.

i joined the army when i was 17 to make my grandparents who raised me proud..i come from a long line of military, unfortunately before i could graduate basic training my grandmother who i loved more than anything slipped into a coma because of cancer, just as i was leaving for iraq in 2007 my grandfather passed away in his sleep....i just wished they lived through my 9 years in the army to see the man they made me into....RIP alice jane graham and amos ross mattis

My best friend was a double lung and heart transplant recipient. The months before her transplant were spent in a hospital bed. Her organs weren't strong enough to provide her what she needed on a daily basis. 5 months she spent waiting, every single day, not knowing if today would be her last, or if it would be the day she received a donor. During those 5 months I went and visited her as much as possible... almost every week and sometimes twice a week even. She told me how she would listen to this song because she thought she was going to die, and it offered her comfort. Well, on that 5th month. She received a donor. His organs granted her 7 more years of life. We had 7 more years of a wonderful unbreakable friendship. We watched each other grow, and learn, and excel in what we wanted. But sadly she passed away, she had be battling organ rejection for quite sometime and her body just couldn't keep up anymore. It'll be 2 years this February, and I still think of her every single day. I still miss her, every single day. And whenever I really want to feel close to her. I'll play this song, and I swear she's sitting next to me, and even though i cry my eyes out I alway comfort in listing to this.

my grandmother passed away due to a broken heart and this is what i sang at her funeral so it brings back alot of memories ... after my granpa passed she used to pack a suitcase and wander the streets in her neighborhood saying she was going to find papa "what we call my grandpa" so we ended up having her stay at our house in a hospital bed the saddest thing i have ever experienced ty jimmy for keeping her memories alive with this beautiful song

My grandfather passed recently. He lived a long and full life, but all of us weren't ready to lose him. No one was more of a mentor to me than him. I know my pain is selfish. That I miss that I can't call him to talk with him about everything going on in life. I can only hope I can be to my kids what he was for me.
