    I just took some kitesurfing lessons in Hawaii but watched this whole beginners playlist before I got started. These videos are really helpful and I strongly believe that they helped me be more prepared for my real lessons. I was up and doing some basic riding within about 6 hours! Thanks for making these videos!

      I'm really glad to hear that. Helping people get more out of lessons is one of our main priorities.

    Thank you so much for this!! The side view of the power curve really helped it all click for me. Would have been nice to see the side view power curve during aggressive steering movements, but thanks again.

    A couple of questions. How can you go upwind (against the wind)? How many knots can it be at least to ride with a training kite?

    Enjoyed meeting you and taking the trainer lesson. I want to buy a trainer kite, can you give me some direction as to what size I might get?

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  8 лет назад +1

      Hi Kent, for a trainer kite 1m² or 2m² is fine. Start using it on a day with just light wind.

      Thanks for the advice but I already bought a 3. Difficult to control at first but now that I have about 4 hours on it I can fly it fairly well and applying what I learned in the lesson. Now looking for a place to cable wakeboard for some experience there!

    Hi! Thank you for your videos! Even one month ago it was one of my dreams (almost impossible ). After those videos it looks pretty easy and realistic, and now I'm ready to try. I want to buy a trainer kite, and I was searching for a while, but it's a lot of different trainer kites and... because I'm not familiar with this yet.... don't really know which one to buy... I'm so close to my dream... It would be very kind if you give me some advice about what brand and shape of a trainer kite you would recommend to buy for practicing (something with a good quality but not pricy), Thank you so much!

      Hello Anna, just make sure it's a small trainer kite (about 1m) and the wind isn't strong, and there are no hazards (people, power lines, roads etc). This trainer kite is simple and flies well:
      store.corekites.com/products/xperience-trainer-kite-2-0
      You can also get a small trainer kite from Cabrinha, Slingshot -actually from most kitesurf manufacturers.
      If you have a local instructor, and are keen to learn, then they will probably be happy to give you a short lesson (1 hour) with your trainer kite for not much $, as you can then practice for a few weeks on your own, and will be a much better student when you do decide to take the plunge and learn in the water.

      @@kitesurfcollege I am thinking of purchasing kite equipment. It can be very expensive. I saw a cheap setup for around a 100$. I am thinking this either is made badly or dangerous or both. I am concerned about purchasing it. I am also concerned about a strong rogue wind lifting me way too high😱. What are your thoughts? Thank you For replying to my last comment.😄

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  3 года назад

      Hi, buying 2nd hand is fine once you know what to look for and can easily test fly. It's not so easy without experience. 100 for a trainer kite is a lot (you can order a brand new one for that), but for an inflatable kitesurf kite it is not, that would certainly be damaged or out of date. If you're looking for a trainer kite, it's best to order a new one, plus get short lesson from an instructor, or very experience kiter, to help get you started without flying it into anyone else.

      Thank you. So there’s a difference between a trainer and regular one. So a trainer kite won’t pull you across water?

    My friend and I really want to get into kitesurfing, there aren't really any places that offer training near us, and just buying a kite and board is dangerous. Will it be a good idea to invest in a kite and practice and then start thinking about buying a kit?

    Is training using a trainer kite necessary before using a "real" kitesurfing kite?

    • @kitesurfcollege
      @kitesurfcollege  7 лет назад +2

      Hello Keanu, it depends on the situation, wind, ocean conditions, instructor's experience etc.
      The trainer kite can give you a lot of practice, without risk and at low equipment cost. Your skill with it, helps proves to your instructor that you are ready to fly an undersized inflatable kite.
      On the other hand, for an experienced instructor in easy conditions, the trainer kite doesn't help much at all.
      What I have noticed, however, is that when I get a student who has had a trainer kite, and done a lot of hours on it, then they progress quickly in lessons with an inflatable kite.

      You learn CONTROL. As well as fear and respect for the wind. You can manhandle a small trainer kite, but a full size windsurfing kite is like being pulled by an out of control unstoppable waterski boat.

      A 1m2 trainer kite is less likely to kill you than a 12m2 kitesurfing kite.
