NEVER Take Nutrition Advice From Diary Of A Ceo

- Steven Bartlett and the diary of a ceo has been getting a lot of slack recently for the misinformation he is allowing to spread and profit from via his podcasts and the companies he is associated with such as Zoe and Huel.
We couldn’t find any evidence based nutrition or dietician that he has had on his podcast - the best we could find for solid information on diet and exercise was James Smith. Although we like James.. I think he himself would even say that’s a massive red flag for the number one podcast in the uk who is constantly talking about weight loss and diets.
Many of his guests are ‘doctors’ which are stepping well outside their scope of practice with their advice on how you should eat.
From the insane promotion of intermittent fasting ‘curing’ almost everything, to fat making you fat, carbs making you fat and protein making you fat. Listeners often come to personal trainers confused by the confusing and misleading information promoted by Bartlett and guests such as Jason Fung, Gary Brecka and Tim Spector.
If you are on a weight loss/fat loss journey and want genuine advice on diet and exercise this is probably the last podcast you should be listening to.

so much sanity in this one video!!! DOAC thumbnails are overly sensational and host is motivated by fame and profits, as a byproduct confusing people and leaving them worse off. he knows exactly what he’s doing.
Love the content and completely agree with the sentiments shared here... so much good work is undone from the public perspective when these "experts" come on and tell people what they know they want to hear regarding "It has nothing to do with calories." What makes it worse is that, like almost all good lies, there is a grain of truth in each of the podcasts from these experts, but their interpretation or extrapolation of these findings become "magic fixes" which sends people down the wrong path looking for these quick fixes.
This is an interesting chat about SB's podcasts, I'd never thought about them in this way.
one of Steven Bartlett interesting speeches is credibility, and after searching up on claims that people on his podcasts said, I couldn't find any claims that weren't proven, would you like to let me know what claims were false?
Completely agree. Where in the freaking hell a biochemist should be giving nutrition advice? And there are "doctors" in there that aren't specialised in nutrition... It's like saying, I've got a good airplane pilot in here to fix your car 😂😂😂
Thanks very much for having me Gavin 💪
Wooow just wow, if hating was a person it’s exactly this.
Tim Spector is in the top 1% of cited scientists in the world and a Professor at King's College London and he's among the 'worst of the worst charlatans?' I'm not some fanboy, but to say that is just daft.
hey, you mention all these experts which we shouldn’t be listening too. What are some experts you recommend listening too. I have been involved in semi-professional sports for quite a while now and everyone is saying something different. It is very confusing
Sigma nutrition is a great podcast! And also dr Layne Nortan is great at debunking this stuff and has lots of helpful RUclips videos
DR Spencer nadolsky works specifically with obesity and his info is spot on
These are much much less abrasive and clickbaity - still well known to people in the industry but much less known than these guys because they aren’t making outrageous claims all the time
The water clip is certainly pseudoscience. Some of the fasting advice might be less pseudoscience.
Like Dr Joe Dispenza. Guy is a foot doctor. Comes out with esoteric nonsense and makes wild healing claims which he (as far as I remember) never backs up.
wtf was this
It's interesting to hear this perspective, but I am confused. You mention fasting a lot as many of his guests suggest it, but you talk I a way that suggests fasting has no real benefit. I've been trying intermittent fasting for a few months now an I am noticing multiple benefits that align with what I learned from these guests. Now I'm more confused than ever about how lies from charlatans might actually be helping? My gut health, my energy levels and my body fat have all improved in the past 6 months with regular 18/6 eating patterns and some 24 and 36 hour fasts mixed in. Can you help with this?
Hey man,
Listen not anti fasting just this won’t be the case for a lot of people. A lot of people won’t have a good relationship with food and when I work with clients they intermittent binge at night rather than just avoid food for a few hours (those same hormones these guests bang on about can cause us to want to do this too). In terms of fasting itself you can get some mental clarity from maybe not consuming so much carbs in the morning compared to what you usually do (again I wouldn’t say this happens for everyone and sometimes negligible). It’s not a one size magic fix for all - and promoting it such a way is really harmful.
With yourself if you’ve lost weight and your actual food choices are better along with the fasting which by the sounds of it they are - that’s got a hell of a lot to do with it too!
Long story short - it sounds like something is clicking for you. Just fasting isn’t a magic fix for a myriad of issues people are facing it’s a tool to restrict calories mostly!
Hope this helps
@@chatsh1tgetcancelled that's a great reply, thank you. I will also be more diligent with checking his guests too, I think I gave him a free pass because he seems so nice! But as you said, some of his guests are great so I'll pick out the people I recognise, Jimmy Carr, David Moyes ect.
Thanks!
absolutely agree...terrible guests....i like stephen but who are his guests..
Fasting works. Who even are you guys??
fasting works as far as it’s a tool to restrict calories i.e. it’s easier for people than portion control. calorie-equated continuous fasting helps to loose almost the same smount of weight
@@nab5035 the claim was that fasting increases testosterone, and that's medically proven? What's the issue?
Bartlett is a creep
