Thanks so much!!! Playing the open inner slide without the outer slide made an immediate difference for me in resonance, efficiency, and core of sound. Pretty amazing to discover as I work through chop "issues". Thanks again!
Great interview!!! I’ve admired Charlie’s playing for years!! I believe I met him once years ago… If he happens to see this I was just curious if he ever worked with my uncle in LA.. Ray Triscari…. Very VERY educational video!!! Thanks for sharing this!!! Joe Triscari
Does anyone know if Mike Davis, Charlie’s younger brother, is still player trumpet? He came out on the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in the mid 70’s, and was a very fine player.
Charlie and I played in every High School band there was. Jazz band, dance band, marching band, pit orchestra...etc. Haven't seen Charlie since 1965. He was/is a hell of a trumpet man. His brother Dwight was a good Trombone man, but didn't have the nick that Charlie did.

Hi, Charlie! Charlie is a dear friend & one of my trumpet teachers. I learned a lot from my friend, Charlie. John F. Phillips.
Charley's Tribute Book to Bill Adam is a must for any serious trumpet player.
We agree, Nick!
