I love doing hyperlapses of the sunset especially after a storm! the movement of the mavic 2 and the cloud formations make for so much magical movement!
@@WiLL02724 Exactly, the only solution to this is to use automatic shutter speed or keep adjusting the manual setting. This makes a mockery of using a specific ND filter for a sunset/sunrise timelapse, as in order to maintain the generally accepted principle of shutter speed being twice the frame rate, you would have to keep changing filters throughout the timelapse.
Those tree shadows on the snow were astounding! Loved that bracketing pick. I didn't know that could be done. I got some great drone video from the sun setting over the lake last night here in Austin. Of course the Mavic Air doesn't have adjustable F-stop so I had to tweak ISO and shutter speed to not have the sunset blackout the landscape. I was pretty happy with the result. Great tutorial as usual.
Waiting for our sun to start creeping up now. We get it twice a day with two shadow options. Old warehouse in my town has huge glass windows and the sun comes up from behind the building and just blasts through giving a awesome effect through the glass. I hope it turns out as good as I think it will. Thanks for the great video as always!
MIKE....everytime i search for the best and easiest and most worth while drone information i'm always finding yours, with that they are the best, of all the others I have found so far, thanks for the info, you have earned a like and a sub.:)
I've filmed a couple of sunsets and planned on filming a sunrise but unfortunately I have a habit of hitting the snooze button. The sun setting or rising in the shot makes all scenery look amazing.
This is why i want a good camera drone!!! I cant wait to be able to fly and post amazing footage like this!!!! Thanks for all the great content and help!!!!!! Great Channel! 👍😀👍
Here I learned a lot. I have tried earlier with a sunrise video and one thing you did not mention is that your location with have a different light because of the movement of the sun from east to west. That means that the light will be complete different in the morning from what it will be at the evening. :-)
Thank you very much for your informative videos I'm learning a lot about what my drone can do for me, I'm curious about your PC set up for editing what system and type of PC are you using?
I don't think you mentioned what color space you are shooting in. I'm assuming D-log but given that there is great contrast with darker areas and brighter highlights do you find D-log better than HLG in regards to noise in the darker areas? Do you use a noise reducing plugin to help lessen the noise? Also, when exposing for the sunrise/sunset do you favor the sky and let the earth fall where it may or to to use the 2/3 run and open up for the darker areas a 1/3 of a stop? This would be to know. Thank you.
Great info. Thanks! One question: For video, If you set ISO 100, shutter speed 1/60, and aperture F2.8, and have say ND16 on the lens, how do you know if the exposure is right, and how would you adjust to changing light conditions? How do you adapt if you pan away from direct sun? Would you ever allow auto shutter speed for example? Guess that's more than one question. :)
I took mine to the beach today and looked back at the city where the sunset was, I unfortunately got lens flare/dots like you do on the phone cameras. Could this be because of the angle and direction towards the sun?
Still learning here but is it possible to capture this type of video like damn near quality of the sun and sky with the Mavic 2 Zoom or is that aperture a complete game changer when it comes to making the best cinematic content.. I'm starting to wish I bought that instead of wanting the cool dolly zoom effect :(
Thanks for sharing this. What a wonderful and informative video. Love, Love, the golden hour. The shadow effect with the trees is so trippy. I'm going to have to try this now. Have a Glamperrific Day! 👍😀🌈🤪🌈😎🌈😍
Am I loosing any photo quality from my Mav Air when I download the photos from the DJI app directly to my IPhone. Or should I pull the photos directly from the SD card in the drone ?
One thing you forgot to discuss. Color balance settings. What color balance do you like to use during the golden hour? Do you use on of the presets or use a custom setting?

Kevin Le I haven’t tried hyperlapsing sunrise yet, or sunset for that matter. How do you compensate for the exposure changes ?

It's all in the description!
But i'm also making an in-depth video with my impressions of my latest setup very soon :)
Is there anything special you need to do to protect the sensor? Don’t want to accidentally burn the camera sensor looking directly at the sun.
Great tips for sunrise and sunset shots. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Im sure this is old but....when I filmed, I use DJI MP3, and I put on the zebras and track the histogram to make sure its not over exposed
hi sir can you tell me what on Elektra luts are you going to use for sunset or sunrise? tnx :D
Great video and footage very nice indeed thanks for the information as well much appreciated great channel 👍👍🇬🇧
Awesome Sun transition that looked like an explosion. Very cool!

I am using PolarPro Filters, perhaps I need to use different ones?
Some nice shots there, Mike! 👌🏻
Thanks Scott! :)
Searched Alpenglow from Play store but found app called PhotoTime. It works well with Android. Very useful and cool video Mike. Well done!
Thanks a lot mate! :)

ALWAYS use the photos from the SD-card and not from the app, the quality is very very different :)
I SEE YOU lol Great information!!
Appreciate it!
App is available on Android also
Thanks for letting me know! :)

Do you ever use nd/pl filters?
Yes, sometimes I do. But honestly I prefer the regular ND filters

Are there going to be any nd filter giveaways any time soon?
I hope so...

Another nice one 👍🏻 Thanks for the app info. Now I have 3 golden hour related apps 😂
Need help. My Drone footage is flicking everytime. It looks so bad. (Mavic pro)
Great video
The ships on the foggy sea 😎
The big difference between shooting at dawn and dusk is as some say night and day (I’ll get my coat!)
