This has been a huge objection of mine regarding actors pretending to play guitar. I once watched someone, during a big dance number, play a great part, on an unplugged strat, all from the comfort of a second fret A7.
I know I'm not who you're asking. But as a trombone with a few years of playing under my belt. I recommend you get a tuner and make sure all your positions are in tune so when it gets ingrained in muscle memory you don't have to readjust positions later on if wrong. Also when you hold a trombone hold from the bottom part of the slide and use 2 fingers so you can flick your wrists to positions much more easier then your entire arm. And try to move to the next position as fast you can even if it's a slow song. Honestly keep practicing and learn from mistakes (use a pencil to write down notes so you don't make the same mistake again) and you'll do great!
Honestly just keep practicing and try to see how good you can make different notes on it, like listen to a recording of a professional trombone player playing a certain note and see if you can make it sound the same way. I've been playing trombone for 4 years and still have an awful tone quality. It helps to know what movements make the instrument sound right. Sometimes if your tone quality is not so good it makes some notes sound sharp and others flat even though you're playing it in the right position and octave. Also practice tonguing!
Like the others said: practice! Make sure you're in tune. Most of all, enjoy it. Let yourself play around a little after doing scales and standard music.
As an animator and musician, I always make sure to make it work as an instrument would. That said, if we were to use the exact fingering or position, sometimes the instrument wouldn't change frame to frame. It's fine for realism, but for animation, it will look like it wasn't animated. I play trumpet. And last trumpet bit i worked on only used open and first finger, back and forth, or held on one of them (I even played it myself in order to get the notes right). I had to add in fingerings to give it variety. Annoying from our musical perspective, but otherwise, the animation looks dead.
I remember the first time my high school band director gave me a score where the note was A above High C as written for a French horn. There is a sense of accomplishment that I could squeak that, but I'm not sure anyone _heard_ it. (The crazy bastard gave me that piece when I was in 8th grade. I'll refer to him as such because I'm pretty sure the band director at the time, were he still with us today, would be okay with that description.)
I saw an episode of the Simpsons where Lisa was playing the trombone. The slide positions were animated correctly, along with the required positions for the notes on the soundtrack. (i have perfect pitch). It was amazing! Edit: I just tried finding it and couldn't. Didn't look hard. I know that Homer also plays Greensleeves and they even animate the High D in 4th because it is closer to the adjacent E-flats. The Simpsons have some amazing animators and attention to detail when it comes to music.
And he held it wrong to. It is super hard to reach the valves holding it like that. And the tuning slides would have to be super far out to stay in tune
I am unusually well, you know, even though I eat a balanced diet. Genetics man. People mistake me for being pregnant on the train all the time and give up their seats to me. I should be mad but I am not lol. If Taylor Swift starts getting piercings and wearing a nose ring I will cry. Because then my childhood is ruined. Don’t you dare turn her into a goth. She will always be a nice lady wearing a dress that makes her look like a talking cupcake to me
Yeah, they never animate them correctly or have the right notes at the right position. They even did it in a Gumby episode. (I also don't like Donald's wanton destruction of that poor trombone, but it's only a Disney cartoon) XD
He moved the slide so much just for one note 😭😭😭
So that's how the French horn was invented!
As someone who plays a French horn, I decline this message.
(JOKE)
I wonder if that would work with a didgeridoo.0
The fact that Donald can actually play with his beak is ridiculous 😅
Duck beaks are never animated correctly.
I have never felt such pain, as watching that trombone go into, and be crushed by a vice.
I physically looked away such a gruesome act on such a fine beautiful instrument

Bro just made a French horn
trombone is awesome
The fact I play trombone
I don’t think that they will ever be animated correctly
The most unrealistic thing is that he knew how to hold it correctly
Rare from Disney studios to un notice that
Hey at least they’ve got the right hand on the slide. I’m a clarinetist and cry every time I see the right hand on top……🙄🤦♂️😢

Blud turned a trombone to a French horn😂
Donald Duck did it
0:17 who noticed the Thomas in the background?

Donald disrespected us trombones 😂

Honestly thought it would come out of the vice as a euphonium or baritone
I love how when he smashes the trombone it turns into a baritone then it goes blurry then when he pulls it off it turns into a French horn
But we must admit that this is a cool do-it-yourself life hack Donald is doing here.

I could never hit such a high note so easily thats a Bb above the staf
Points for anatomically correct trombone though, even with a spit valve and little nub on the end of the slide
Little did Donald know, trombones can be taken apart
Love the thomas poster hah
Yessir
wow
At least we have soul
Jesus, I was scared for a second you'd show what it sounds like to put a trombone in a pneumatic press or something.
No way I got an ad on this vid, yt is crazy

Is ANY instrument animated correctly?
HELLO I'M FROM BRAZIL I HAD FOUND A VIDEO OF A GUY TESTING A MOUTH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIS NAME IS Heavy - 60 IS FOR BASS TROMBONE
That’s nothing. As a pianist, I can assure you that Tchaikovsky is impossible with only 8 fingers.

Goodbye my OCD
Literally who cares if a certain instrument is animated correctly. Nitpickers 🙄
No music is played correctly in animation or movies
He didn't actually play anything. It's a 2D animation, there's no instrument to play.
Does anyone notice Thomas the tank engine in background?
Why do trombones need to be animated correctly? It's a cartoon, it wouldn't matter.
Its just a trend.

Let me get this straight we are expecting accuracy from a cartoon? Especially one with Donald Duck.? if this was Family Guy that’s higher standards…
Not a big deal for non-brassies.Calm down your tromboner
Let’s just say tbh none of the instruments are correctly animated
Donald Trump moved the thlide tho much for jutht one note 😭😭😭
