I spend WAY more time on audio/sound design than on filming, but every single comment I get on my channel: "It look SO cinematic!" or "What did you film this is?!" So thank you for bringing this up Danny 😊
Haha totally man thank you!
Don’t attempt to taste your pups at home folks!
Too late.
That was exact moment I hit the like button
I was like “oh no” but then you did it a bit reluctantly and I was glad it was just a tiny taste 😂
@@Sabrinasvids hahahah
@@CurtisPenne yep!
Your goal is not to be better than anybody else. It’s to be better than you used to be.
FACTS
I literally use studio reverb - great hall on literally all my sounds too, way to goo!
Haha it’s the GOAT effect!
Guys be careful with the reverb cause it can mess up the audio mix pretty quickly! I learnt it the hard way mixing music projects.
Using this long, wet, high decay reverbs can add a lot of clutter to the mix and ruin the presence of the sounds, pushing them back.
It is something that works if you are mixing a vocal track that has to sit on top, and you create space with the reverb, but if you are only using reverberated tracks then you are essentially pushing everything back and loosing a lot of clarity and dynamics.
To achieve a richer sound while adding reverb, you could try duplicating the tracks. You can keep one dry to maintain its presence in front of the mix, while using a second one with the reverb to mix in. In this way, you are still maintaining full control over the reverb, as well as having the possibility to process it even further. I hope this was somewhat clear hahahaha
@@Pirots thanks man
@@mukisaelijah12 you're welcome! :)
same hahaa
I have to comment because Danny's engagement in this section is unlike any other RUclipsr out there. Also, great content as always. Keep inspiring man
Hahah I try man. Thank you!
This reminds me of how different musical artists approach writing a song (which comes first? LYRICS vs. MELODY/Harmony). I was surprised to hear you like to find your background music first! Thanks for sharing, Danny.
For sure thank you!
Dude, seriously, you are an inspiration and you make me feel like we’ve been friends for decades. I legit want to sit down and have lunch with you one day.
Haha we have been Kevin! Lol thanks man
Just keep watching and keep smiling. Absolutely love the energy. I wish all RUclipsr were as real. 👏👏
Sound design is the most overlooked and arguably the most important part of filmmaking. Sound is what really immerses an audience into the world you're creating. There have been tests and studies done that show viewers perceive the same exact film as looking better when there is sound design added to it.
bro, just your demeanor in these videos is so helpful. really real and not pretentious. love it.
I love the fact that you didn't just tell us that using music is important but went ahead and showed us your exact process.. don't see many cinematography RUclipsrs doing that so that's super awesome bro! Thanks for this vid.
I just started incorporating sound design into my videos more, and with the little work I've done I have already been seeing some major results. This video helped me understand sound design more, so I can now build on what I've already accomplished, thank you so much!
I must say!! I had been always focused on color grading.. but since two weeks I started my journey on learning and investing a lot of time on sound design coz I want to take my videos to another level.. you and other video makers on this platform have helped me to take the decision and to start this journey as a video maker.. and it’s been 2 years since then!
I just wanted to say thank you! 👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you for always saying that it's simple, it makes me feel comfortable learning it
You are such a beautiful soul. Learning so much from you. My confidence on my creativity is literally growing watching this video.
Hey Danny ! You are totally changing my idea and concept of "making a video" and watching you as a freelancer it's the best thing that I watch here on youtube. It's helping me a lot!
Thank you! Much love !
Amazing to hear. Thank you!!!
sound design is definitely something i have started to put more effort in. the atmosphere it creates, brings everything else together as well.
Awesome! Had my latest vlog finished and ready to publish, when I saw this and went back and re-sound-designed the intro sequence by adding ambient sounds. Thanks for the inspiration 🙌
Thank you so much for sharing! This is so helpful! I'm new to sound design and I'm so grateful for resources like this to help me grow! :)
Totally right on this. I need to start implementing this into my video’s.. Weird how I forget about using this for the video’s on RUclips but I do use them for my clients... Thanks for this video.
Your videos are addicting. Thanks Danny they are a great help.
You the man Danny. Every single video you put out is helping me create. Love you
Terrific. I've worked with my pro sound designers and it's easy to tell them what I'm looking for but to do it myself is another story altogether. Excellent tips. Thank you!
I literally just binge all of your videos when I have time. I genuinely feel like I can handle all of the things as a new videographer after watching your stuff 🖤
So amazing to hear Emily! Thank you!
I like the video before I start watching, because I know Danny comes with amazing contents. Danny doesn't spend much time on sound design because he's been doing this for a long time. I use Studio Reverb so much. Thank you, Danny
I fell in love with this piece, I’ve always wanted to create something like this!! Another AMAZING video!
Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Danny!
I've watch a dozen of your video in a row and it always bring me that contagious smile!
You have no idea how I needed it in my life... me either... until I got it in my face!
Tears of joy from Montréal
You are such a heartfelt person! So glad I found your videos!
Me too! Thank you!
Bruuda great perspective man. I definitely need to spend more time on the sound design get all the feels! Thanks for sharing man.
Such a great breakdown .... always brilliant 👏
This video was great, Thanks Danny! I love doing sound design in a film, one of my favorite parts to do in the editing room
thank you for doing this!! haha its such an undervalued craft for films/videos
Beautiful video Danny and I have to agree sound is so important when it comes to fully being immersed into the experience, love your work man! 👏🏼
Thank you for this video! I don't think enough channels elaborate on the sound design, it's so important!
Thank you for this. I just started following you and I'm loving everything you're creating. You're bomb!
As I slowly progress and learn from my previous work I find sound design telling the story even more than the visuals (exaggeration). Great tip Danny!
Haha me too man thanks!
Sound design is one of my favorite aspects of video creation, definitely just takes my visuals to another level! Excited to hear your thoughts about it all! 💯✔️🔥
It totally does. Thanks!!
Always important and really makes the vibe and mood hit correctly.
Definitely man!
I agree. The sound design is so important for immersing the audience. Another useful video. Thanks Danny!
"Under-top of the water".. haha, that made me chuckle.

Man anything you make is stunning danny
Loved this one bro, sound design is so crucial in creating a truly immersive experience for the viewer. Keep up the good work!
Was feeling quite down today. Then I watched this and felt better. Thank you Danny.
Hope everything is good dude! Thank you!
Pure Guinness! Love the in and out water sound thing
Thanks so much!
Hey man!. That water scene is ridiculously good! Sansa is adorable! So polite! Awesome tip and great delivery on this video
Great work Danny, like the tips on the waves and how you did that part. Great stuff.
I appreciate the tips! It's something I'm working on more. I started just cutting the clips to match the song and then export. I never knew the effect sound design had
Thanks man! It’s a huge impact when you spend some time on it
Wow, this request was answered FAST.. You rock man
Hahahah had to!
This was such an informative video. LOVE IT!
This video has extremely much value ... knowledge. And not the hundreth spam-video that you find on RUclips! Keep up this great work!
love your work! very inspiring. mad love from the islands of Fiji
Man that above water/ under top sound design was so basic but so effective!!
Thanks man!
Sound is something I’ve wanted to master for so long.. it just feels like it’s always low priority. Watching your stuff is inspiring!
Thanks man!!
Love it Danny! Thanks man. Some of these little details make huge changes! 🤘🏻❤️🤘🏻
For sure! Thank you!!
This is the 5th or 6th time I’ve posted a video about something and within the week, a channel I subscribe to makes a video in the same thing. Lol great video my guy. You’re my favorite RUclipsr these days.
I had to pause the video halfway through to drop a comment because I couldn't wait.
Right of the bat, amazing production quality and content. Usually, it's a pain to sit through learning but you make it fun and enjoyable.
Thanks for making this, Danny! Super helpful!
Amazing to hear brother thank you!
I recently just started watching your videos and they are so awesome! I love the vibes here lol
Thanks so much Mel!
This is such great timing.
I'm just beginning to look at ways to work with sound in my own videos and this was a terrific introduction to some techniques.
I'll be looking at this video a few more times!
Thanks Danny!
On another note... loved the intro with Sansa!
Amazing man! Thank you!
This was sooo useful!!!!!! Thanks you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Niiice one. Love watching the process. And I definitely learned couple of things from this. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏼
Thanks man!!
dude these videos are. so great !!! thank you for your amazing content !!
Thank you brother!
Preach, my tutor when I was 16 used to always say that you'd rather watch a film on a phone with GREAT headphones and audio, than a film in a cinema with terrible audio. I won't stop loving you Danny. Love, Darshan.
Such a good line. Thank you!!!
Wow, another great tutorial! You're the best, Brotha.
I really want to learn sound design to elevate my videos. Thanks for this! I hope I could do an amazing video with great sound design soon!
Loved this video. So helpful
Can we like one time for the ice pack! YESSSS! To keeping it real...cool. As always, appreciate the thought 💭 and detail you placed in this video and I learned a bit too. Sound design is certainly not a strength right now, but I do want to get better.
Thanks for sharing your insights on sound design. Great content, as always, Danny!
Thanks dude!
Thanks Danny for another really useful video. Love how sound can transform a scene
Thanks Kyle!
Ah thank you so much for making this video, these tips are so helpful!

Watching your content from Papua New Guinea! You’re a great teacher! Great stuff brother! ☺️👊🏾
This was so helpful! I'd love to see more tips on sound design. The clips in the water are stunning!
Thanks so much!
I commented last video asking for some appreciation for the sound 😂 Really beautiful piece and sound definitely pulled it together! Great work Danny
Such an important topic - so easy to underestimate. Going right back to re-editing some of my favourite videos with better sound-design! Also with -10 degrees celcius here in Norway right now I gotta say I envy the ice cubes hidden in your shirt - I can't wait to wear shorts and t-shirts again haha.
Thank you so much this is super amazing!!!
So helpful!! Thank you! I noticed a couple shortcut key strokes. Would be interested in a video of your favorite shortcuts, just an idea.
I was one of those folks that commented on sound design for Blue, specifically that in an out of the water scene. For me, it wasn't so much that the sound design seemed super technical and complicated, but it was just so intentional and natural feeling. It fit so well. I could tell it was thoughtful, and like a lot of things in the world of editing and making videos less can be wayyy more in terms of the impact and experience for the audience.
Like all of your work that I have seen, it just felt natural...like it was just a visual extension of who you are. Thanks for sharing Danny.
Haha totally got ya man! Thanks for commenting on both vids haha
You are good teacher to me. because I'm studying make video in English trough your video... I think my English skills will definitely improve before I even learn filming skills :)
dude the icepack. You're so sympathetic haha Thank you for this video and the included information!
"Somewhere Not Here" is another great preset in the Surround Reverb effect! Great for smoothing sounds in when they sound that little bit out of place 👍 Great work Danny boy.
Sweet dude I’ll check it!
As a sound technician moving into video, this makes me so happy to see 😍
Love to hear that! Thanks!
Never tried studio reverb, thanks fot sharing how you build that video it is super helpful 🙏🏾
Thanks man!
Love the thoughts Danny - sound design is so key. One thing I do is color code my clips to distinguish music from sound FX from vocals.
Up to 120k subs now! Wow man!
Thanks so much brother!
studio reverb FOR THE WIN!!
Man!!!! Your videos are such an inspiration!!!!
Thank you so much!
I am new to video editing especially to sound design and this is so helpful. Thank you. Hope you can also share how you color grade the videos. :)
Ice pack coming in clutch!! Love the tips dude. Super helpful!🤙🏼
Aweosme video. I always pick out my music before editing the footage. I’ve done some sound design, but definitely need to step it up on each video. Thanks, man!
Haha it’s the best way man! Thanks!
love this man!
Whoa sound makes such a huge difference. I def need to focus more on that
Totally do man! It makes the quality shoot up!
Super helpful! Thank you Danny, that BLUE project was suuuper dope! I love all the extra content like this that came from it too 🤙🏽
Thanks dude!
The scene with the hand in the water going “under top”the wave was ⛽️🔥😂
Awesome video. I recently watched the film The Sound of Metal. Possibly the best use of sound design I have ever heard. So good, that it was difficult to watch, and the transition from scary, difficult, desperate, fearful, crazy... All of it... to beautiful, was amazing. Sound design is so important, because the way we perceive things through our senses is how we decide to move about our lives. At least to me, in my humble opinion. Great, provocative work, as always. Thank you.
Thanks brother!!!
Hey Danny, thank you for sharing your knowledge! I would really appreciate if you make a video or a very small part of one to explain your audio levels. I have some troubles getting a well balanced sound. Thanks in advance!
Nice work Danny!
