It’s never directly explained in the show, but Vince Gilligan has said that the reason Walt and Gretchen split up is because she was from a a very rich family and at some point Walt’s ego couldn’t take it. You can see it being implied in their scene in season 2 episode 6, where Gretchen tells how one day he just packed his bags and left with no explanation, and he calls her “rich girl just adding to her millions”. So it wasn’t a love triangle. He wasn’t betrayed. It was his fragile ego, as always. Also, that dinner scene is the best comedic moment in BB history.
Todd keeping the tarantula is the most chilling moment of this episode for me. Psychopaths who turn into killers are known to keep trophies from their victims.
A throw-back to Half-Measures episode where Mike talked about the wife-beater he threatened, Walt was whisting "Danny Boy" as Jesse was leaving the house.
Those dirt bike tracks would have been long gone by the time anyone realized that the methylamine had been replaced. They replaced it with water because they knew it gets weighed before it gets shipped overseas. That means that it would be days, if not weeks, before anyone even discovered that there'd been a heist. So that theory doesn't hold water. I also don't believe that it would have been a certainty that they would have decided to kill the kid even if they had taken time to talk about it. Jesse talked Walt and Mike out of killing Lydia, and keeping her alive was a WAY bigger risk than keeping that kid alive. She put a hit out on Mike and knows all about their business, for god's sake! Jesse would have done everything he possibly could to keep that from happening to a child, even if it meant bringing himself and everyone else down. As for the Skylar hate, I get it to the point that, if she really wanted to protect her family, she should have left Walt and turned him in to the DEA as soon as she found out what he was doing AND told Walt Jr. the truth. However, she didn't understand the scope of what Walt was getting into, and she is now owning the fact that she made a mistake. That doesn't mean that she should be hated on for being worried about her kids because it's "her own fault". Where is the hate for Walt for HIM putting his family in this kind of danger and not even giving a shit because his ego is too big to admit that it's even a problem? That kind of thinking really pisses me off. When I see people giving Skyler more hate than Walt, especially by this point in the series, I can't help but feel offended as a woman because I've seen this kind of lopsided judgement, by men, of female characters TOO. MANY. TIMES! Still love you guys, though! Just needed to give my point of view.🥰
I'm not certain Walt would have exposed of Drew. In Walt's morbid reasoning, he would probably think he was preserving the kid by taking him to get ice cream and spiking it with something that would turn him into Hector Salamanca....
A great episode and reaction. Glad you're enjoying the show. Can't wait for more. Mike and Jesse are the best; and Walt too is such an enjoyable protagonist. Outwardly Todd is likeable as well, but you have a lot to see of him yet. I definitely don't like Skylar though and her petty games. Her drinking solves nothing. At least what happened with Todd and the kid, while tragic, was some sort of answer.
Not sure that would have worked either. Once it was revealed that the methlamine was stolen, the engineer/conductor would have been questioned about anomalies that occurred during the route and where, which would have lead to more investigating and the engineer/conductor team along with the good samaritan would identify Kuby and kid would identify the rest excluding Mike, right? I don't think anyone saw Mike.

"Mike Ehrman-Out" was such top tier word-play, good job

it's john kramer's lawyer! guess he needs to play a game...
Declan (Louis Ferreira) is in the Saw films as well
The fact that I’ve had dinners more awkward than the one in this episode makes me shudder
Lol
the actor that played Declan was in the Saw movies. 4 and 5 I believe.
Never heard anyone compare Jesse Plemons to Cameron Monaghan. Though he's been called "Meth Damon" many times.

Todd = Meth Damon
Sorry, but Todd made the right decision. But they could have just told the kid they work for the railroad and probably kid says nothing.
