Spiritual Depression

Spiritual depression is something that can happen to the godliest among us. It can afflict those whose hearts are tender and passionate for truth, and who long for a return to right living in their society. If left unabated, spiritual depression can lead to isolation from everyone and everything. We are exhorted in the book of Hebrews; Do not neglect the assembling of yourselves.
Don’t try to go at it alone! As you come through these dark places, there will be a compassion deposited in your heart from the suffering, that was never there before. You will begin to recognize that, without God, I can do nothing. But with God I can do all things!
I read this same exact passage this morning
I went through my daily routine and after my shower I asked Gid to please speak to me.
As I drove to the dentist I prayed again asking The Holy Spirit to speak to me
Then I grabbed my phone while I sat at a red light and put this sermon on.
I am in awe, the same scripture passage was read that I read .
I believe this is The Lord speaking to my heart to listen .

I am a fairly new believer (about 3 years) and I am going through this 'spiritual depression myself. I have felt this way for months and I thought 'what is wrong with me?' 'Am I crazy?' 'Are believers supposed to feel like this?' I even began to doubt my own salvation because I could not understand this 'feeling' I felt (I did not think others went/go through this). I felt I like I've been in a fight for a very long time and at at first I was fighting back. But as the 'blows' got stronger and the time passed, i got weaker. I thought "I have no fight me left. I'll just lay here and take the blows (that felt like they were coming from all directions)". But then this 'spiritual depression' took over me and I was tired and confused and just prayed "I'm tired Lord. I just want to go home with you, where my only concern will be to worship You for all eternity" (I seriously prayed this). But praise God for this encouraging word through Pastor Carter. Thank you Father God for not forgetting me!!!
If you truly have given your life to Christ he now owns you!!
Perhaps you should pray that he will strengthen your spirit to serve him and he will guide you to where you need to go to grow and become equipped to do so.
You will have to leave your comfort zone but if you mean it, it will happen.
You may find that you suddenly become at odds with people you feel now share your beliefs as your knowledge grows.
Eventually you will realise that the majority of the world is lost and nothing will get better for the world, but you can take joy in knowing that you are doing the best you can with what God has given you to serve him.
After some years I've learned the more we are attacked to bring us down, this is actually war to stop us from doing GREAT FOR GOD.
I still go through this...and this is when a message like this strengthens my soul to go on, for God. Know prayers are with you.

I too get hit w/ this every now and then... when Im fully TRUSTING God, I feel victorious with going forward, confident that when hardship comes along, I can do this (confident)...
..... then suddenly strangly .. I become so lost, afraid, sad, hopeless and complaning!! That thriving faithfulness of "I can do this" becomes dim. Twice it has come hard and it becomes scary, because I become thrown around as if through this hopelessness. But there is a nano hope that is alive deep inside and brings me back on my knees and the Bible. (Peace!).
I read my Bible in its entirety multiple times and the N.T entirety many other times ... read it again+again every morning and some evenings.. although I do know struggles & weakness in the walk (hike) in Christ ISNT without trials. When they hit (hardship) .. ,however difficult ....it gets strangely tolerable cause you know of Him (HOPE) ... Jesus/ Heavenly Father is there ... here with me carrying me! 👣
Prayer HELPS a lot and loyalty to your Faith especially! TRUST God!

WOW ! Where was this sermon when I was in my 20's ? This was me for YEARS when I first started out in my walk with Christ and I never understood why I would be crying in church for seemingly no reason. Now, I'm pretty much the opposite. The joy of the Lord is my strength. But, I also stopped going to church so maybe....... Y'all pray for me.

Nancy Demara I too suffer after heart attacks, strokes,going blind, migraine headaches, stomach and bowel problems, family problems, being overworked, physical and mental exhaustion, deep confusion & grief over the apostacy in most churches and deep despair over the evil in the world! Amazing! I suffer from spiritual depression but was told that it is a demon and that I shouldn’t acknowledge it. I stayed home from church today ( isolation) and this message was the first things I came across. So on time, oh how I appreciate this anointed man of God. May God bless pastor Carter abundantly.

This message is so relatable. 1 Kings 19 has breathed new life into me so many times.
This word was spoken on my brothers birthday. My brother passed away on September 13 a year before this word was spoken. Lord knows how tuff this time of year is for me. September and October. I have a hard time leaving my bed, i have a hard time praying and reading his word, I feel dead inside. And My flesh leads me to look for comfort where there is none. I am so thankful for this word. I believe God is healing me. THANK YOU JESUS.

I have a spirit of Depression and Lust I hope I'm ready when he comes back and the Rapture I know this walk is hard but I thought 10 years ago I would of been ready but I'm not I wish I was a obedient warrior i wanna be unshakable

May I recommend a book, The complete green letters by Miles Stanford. you are righteous in Christ Jesus and He is pleased with you because your hope is in Christ not your works. Focus on your relationship with Christ not on your sin. He is faithful to complete the work He started in you.

I grew up in a Pentecostal Church. I remember the many times the falling of the Holy Ghost so strong upon the congregation. I remember the camp meetings and the spirit was so strong. I miss that. Feeling's are very bad for Christians. We are not save base on feeling's, we are save base on our believe in Jesus Christ. Just pray and ask God to come close to you and you can have a real relationship with God base on faith not feeling's.

I’ve experienced spiritual depression because I thought that I couldn’t love and because of this I thought that I couldn’t be saved then i found this and it got to me

Have no church here. I long to go home! But I can't go until the Lord says it's time. It's hard to find people who read their Bible daily, and seek a relationship with Jesus. My ❤️ is broken daily over the condition of the people in the world 💔. It's a very lonely existence. Jesus Christ is my best friend. MARANATHA! Seek His face. Love the Lord!

I had no idea that this was a thing. I convinced myself for so long that this is my own problem and I'm creating problems for myself with memories, thoughts of who I am as a Christian. Always so afraid of putting on the wrong image for the world and how they look at me as a believer in Jesus. It's brought me to a point of not reading my Bible or listening to worship music. Or anything I did for my relationship with Jesus. I have convinced myself that I was impaired mentally, socially, emotionally. I drove myself so far away from the Light. I know it isn't what I want. There is nothing in this world I want to associate myself with, the things of the world. This is me word for word.. I pray for anyone else who is going through this, that they hear this message or a message very similar to this..
I've just come out of this for the most part. The Lord showed me that my thoughts got me into it, and that my thoughts and feelings got me into a disastrous place. He reminded me of a book written many years about spiritual depression. The author said the spiritual, and the physical play a part together at times. We can be tired, more susceptible, but the bottom line is unbelief. As I repented of the unbelief in Christ's promises to me I felt better and better. I have learned in life that repentance is the key, always, to peace and restoration.
Recently He has been teaching me when difficulties happen in my life, to pray about them. Do I need to repent, to take action somehow? Then do what I need to do, and then leave the situation in His hands. He spoke very clearly to me, "Do the next thing". Not to mull over it but to go on with life. If we are truly born again, we are free in Him, and we can choose the next thing and trust Him with the difficult situation(s) we have left in His hands. I am living it, some situations better than others but I am improving slowly but surely. It's possible. The other option is to revert back to mulling over what I did, what I didn't do, should have done, or shouldn't have done...which the enemy wants me to do. There is hope and there is victory. I'm praying for each of you here who have asked for prayers. When I fast again I will include you. That is another positive. Prayer and fasting for others, and also to hear from God for ourselves. Gideon in Judges 6 set out a fleece for the Lord. He needed to hear from God and he did. God responded. I do that when I need to hear from Him specifically about something important and He responds. Be encouraged everyone. He loves us, and He forgives us.

I don't make friends easily. After these betrayals of my trust I may never trust ppl again. There's a long history of this. I am closed off inside. I'm imploring the Lord to help me find the heart to trust ppl again.
Wow! I haven't even listened to the sermon but I've read some commentaries and I am on the same boat. I ask myself why God even bothers with me. I've asked Him to leave me because I feel like the sterile fig tree...useless...but He is everywhere.

What do you do when you are housebound through disability and illness and all family and friendsn are withnthe Lord - and the person who was pastor (and his wife who was once friend) says 'we will pray for you but we don't want a relationship with you'...They never contact and are angry because I said they didn't seem to care. I try to send blessings and pray for them,,..but I am strugging alone, bereft and in great ohysical distress. I try to cope entirely alone except for ha;f amn hour 3 days a week from a carer wjomis not a Chrostian. I Am.unable to leave my house. I love the Lord so much and trust Him and have served him for a lifetime, and so long for His coming.But I feel selfish and guilty for feeling hopeless and depressed. Oh for fellowship. Now and again dear sous from afar pays a brief visit...,and whay a joy..but it isnt often. Yoy said be hnest...tisnmisnit, God kess yiou fr your minjustry. That is my church. MARANATHA.

Eilidh AH Cameron He sees, He knows what it is to feel forsaken . Take comfort in that just a touch to the hem of His garment, He knows. Many like the sweet psalmist knew too. Others may forsake you, He never will. It is not good that you should endure alone however. I will remember to ask Him for you, for friends to help and love you. He is the one who said * You do it to the least of these, you do it to Me* He came for this.

ALL depression is spiritual in nature; all depression is a spiritual condition. Don't let anyone fool you and don't allow yourself to be brainwashed by secular humanism (which is the world view of this age).
P.S. The one exception would be organic depression such as caused by lead poisoning, or that caused by actual brain damage/TBI or stroke.
