Thank you for this video David, very much appreciated your views on the Gangnam area. Which will no doubt attract more interest given's PSY's international pop success!
wow.. thank you for the vid again you don't know how important these videos are for me it's really hard to describe really. everytime when i go to youtube i check out your vid first i miss korea so much..
People may think that SK is very dangerous country because of NK. However, it is one of the safest country in thr world. We dont have any anxiety about our safety....
My hometown!! I used to live right near gangnam station and currently live in California. This video totally recalls memories of my childhood. Thanks for your video :-)
i love the contrast i love the variety i love that i can step back into all these differnt worlds Hong Kong is like a more extreme version of this super high tech and run down or old school ,street working class asian market life
On top of that, you mentioned Buddhism at 6:42, If you can read and understand Korean, the letters on the sign means " Astrology or Fate , Tarot, and Martial compatibility". It has not to do with Buddhism. It's more like Korean-style shamanism and mixed Korean astrology as you already mentioned foruten teller stuff :) Again, I would not like to argue, but to give you my opinions. I am pretty sure that you are very open to accepting other's opinions :) Thanks for uploading again, Cheers!
For all the PSY Gangnam Style fans: The district of Gangnam is not only the area around the Gangnam subway station but it also includes nearby areas like Apgujeong, Cheongdam, Sinsa and Nonhyeon. :) While Gangnam Station is more casual and filled of young people, those other areas seem to be more snobbish and lavish.
hi Micahel, Love your video, I don't know or care anything about religion in korea...I am just here to support your videos....Hopefully I could see you again on more Korean tv shows like infinity challenges, movies and dramas.. god bless :)
are you still in Korea? I clearly remember I was watching 신비한 TV 서프라이즈 every sunday morning when i was a kid. and you were always on the show! : ) it's been about 8 years now time seems fly so fast. thank you micheal! the show was a lot more fun because of you guys!
Nice video! I might just travel there one day. I love the neon lights and the night life. Reminds me a lot of Vegas. Would you recommend visiting in the winter or the hot summer?
@idunno4got i wouldn't consider it a suburb. It is more of an affluent business district. Gangnam-gu is a district of Seoul and it literally means below the river.
heyy thanks for uploading such a nice video. I live in jamsill, and my occupation is in gangnam station exit 5. so, almost everyday except holidays, I go to gangnam for work.. anyway, good for u!
Mike, I have to tell you, this video brings back so many memories. I used to hang out there quite a bit back in 95-96. I even had a job teaching English just up the street from the station around the corner from that McDonalds and movie theater you walked by at the beginning of this video. Is that Pizza Hut still back in there? I used to teach English to the empIoyees there for free pizza + cash. Gotta luv that. I remember Tower Records was across the street and down a bit. What's there now?
yeah, ironically, for people looking for gangnam style, you won't find in "gangnam" station. What Psy's referring to is like Apgujeong, Chungdam, Nonhyeon, etc.. which is part of Gangnam-Gu Area.
hi Kevin i was thinking of u when i shot this i was wondering if u had much time to check out places like Kangnam yes, still the same i found out after i shot this video that they are doing a 1 year redevelopment construction job of Gangnam station all new refit of the station taking atleast one year gonna be chaos cheers buddy
Hello, Michael... I just watched your video description of Gangnam, and I hope to ask you if I may use your video clip for my presentation of Gangnam to my classmates. I will be a great opportunity to introduce Gangnam in a efficient way. please let me know. Thanks.
wiki is good enough for me im not a paid newa reporter this channel is fun i dont make up things atleast i do a little research of an area i have my life and my work and my responsibilities, youtube is just for fun
Can you tell me where is the best bath sauna place in gangnam? Tiltangbang or whatever they are cslled. Might spend a night in one looks cool. Also outdoor food stores where is the best place to go?
@marxian00 The sewage smell is common in most big cities, especially during the summer. I'm from NYC and the smell is everywhere here too. Its a combination of many things like the pollution, garbage, car exhausts, etc.
Gangnam Station or Samsung Station around the Gangnam style wide to be saying is correct. However, is saying exactly the Gangnam style around the streets of Gangnam, Apgujeong-dong Rodeo. Quite a lot are different.
@michaelarnold13 I think those percentages are referring to the spread among those who are religious. Looking at the database from which that information is cited, I think the percentages are switched, too--43% of those who profess a religion are Buddhist and 55% are Christian (34% Protestant and 21% Catholic). According to the same data, 46% of Koreans are atheist, and only 29% are Christian (out of the total population).
Hello Michael, First of all, I enjoyed your video and just wanted to leave a comment. Well, in Korea, Protestants and Catholics are not considered the same religion. As you already saw the statistics, as a religion, Buddihms would be the largest religion in Korea if you did not sum up. I did not reveal my nationality, Korean as you might think I am biased. However, historically as well as culturally, Korea would better be categorized into a Buddihsm country rather than a Christan country.
hello viedream! i am korean girl .i was so surprised after watching your comment. on my class 13 girls are christan. and 10 girls dont have religion. and 7 girls are catholic and 2 girls are buddahist. and i dont have religion.and i'm not buddahist. behind my house there are two churchs.
yes religion is a personal thing i made this video and all videos for fun only i read that Korea was Christian so I said it ,why are people so sensitive and get weird when its about religion ? Ths video is about Gangnam not relgion
That doesn't mean Korean is Christian. It's cultural heritage is still Buddhist. It's holidays are primarily Buddhist or of Buddhist origins. And why are you citing wikipedia?
i changed the title of this video to stop people continually posting about how im wrong and that Gangnam is many municipalities,i dont have a big following,i basically make these videos for me and some friends,im not defensive,i just dont like redundancy,i lived in Korea over 10 years,I know where Pys was talking about
I did not realise that Christianity was the biggest religion in South Korea but by all accounts over 29% of South Koreans are Christian compared to 22% that are Buddhist. I always thought the Philippians was the only country in Asia that's religion was offically Christian. Really interesting video. I am trying to catch up on your videos.
Thank you for this video David, very much appreciated your views on the Gangnam area. Which will no doubt attract more interest given's PSY's international pop success!
wow.. thank you for the vid again

@michaelarnold13 I am presenting about Korean culture in an US elementary school next week. Can I use and show some clips of your videos?
Gangnam Station or Samsung Station around the Gangnam style wide to be saying is correct.
However, is saying exactly the Gangnam style around the streets of Gangnam, Apgujeong-dong Rodeo. Quite a lot are different.

@michaelarnold13 my issue isn't with your statistics. its with you labelling korea as a christian country
man i wish i could travel and go places like korea or japan im hoping to save enough money to go to japan next summer
That doesn't mean Korean is Christian. It's cultural heritage is still Buddhist. It's holidays are primarily Buddhist or of Buddhist origins. And why are you citing wikipedia?
