He has over 2,000 rbis and runs. The only other players to do that in history are Hank and Babe. Oh yeah and his defense was elite and had an absolute cannon. Miss this guy and he definitely did make mistakes which he has owned up to. Really is a genuine guy

    If the mlb didn’t intentionally try to end arods career, he could have beaten bonds record. They took two years from Arod through suspension and if Arod would have played just one more before retiring he could have broke the record. He was 66 home runs away from tying bonds. Divide that by 3 years and that’s 22 bombs a year. And easy feat for Arod

I remember talking to some other Yankee fans when they signed him and they were so defensive of Jeter's legacy that they were saying ridiculous crap like, "A-Rod is SOOO overrated. He's no Jeter." @@juanyanira Yeah, he's probably Top 10 or 15, but A-Rod was always better at all aspects of the game. The only reason A-Rod moved to 3rd when he came to NY was because Jeter was there first and the fans would have howled that it was some sort of sacrilege to move Jeter from SS
      A-Rod was far superior in the field than Jeter and it would have made more baseball sense for A-Rod to be at SS. But Jeter had already been granted Babe Ruth status by the media and fans so A-Rod was never going to get that spot.

    People just forget how bizarre that last game was. Yankees forcing him to retire and then giving him (mid season) a farewell game. It was just very weird. In the end, the Yankees did the right thing Bc they wanted to give playing time to young players and they still gave A-Rod a special night. Mixed emotions for him I’m sure.

      it wasn't the right thing, they shouldda just let him play out the rest of the year. wasn't even smart as an organization bc they missed out on all the money from his chase for 700 home runs. it was wack

      @2taggs2 2 года назад

      @@gcosme4 The Home run number was tarnished because of his PED usage. If not for that, trust me, the Yankees would have gone for that extra money grab and let him finish the season. Never understood the hate for this guy. Played hard, loved the game, never said a bad word about the fans or the organization despite booing and clearly being singled out (many players failed during the Yankees postseason losses besides A-Rod) and put up MVP caliber seasons year in and year out. His mistake was a bad one, but it's one that 102 other players on that list made, and some of them made the Hall of Fame and got a pass while A-Rod got villainized. I will forever hate Girardi for not playing Alex at 3rd Base in his final game. Even if you hate the man with an enormous passion, you still have to agree it was wrong for making him DH instead of play 3rd.

    They screwed Alex. He only needed what 4 homeruns to 700. Had he got that 700 the Yankees would of owed him that hug bonus that’s why they didn’t let him.

    It was always fun watching AROD crush home runs in opposing teams fields and listen to the boo’s while we were standing up clapping! I was at his first game he returned to Texas and he hit a home run on his first at bat. People boo’d him so hard that year because he was traded lol made no sense cuz he hadn’t been accused of steroids at that point yet lol

    Los Yankees no le dieron la oportunidad de llegar a los 700 HR, y para cerrar con broche de oro, Joe Giraldi no le permitió jugar en tercera desde comienzos del juego, a pesar de que los Yankees no tenían oportunidad de llegar a los Playoffs. ARod, uno de los mejores de la historia.

    Lifelong Yankee fan here. But the cold truth is that the Yankees signed A Rod at the perfect time. And I'll tell you why. If they had signed A Rod years earlier it would have made Derek Jeters slightly above average career look that much smaller. The organization would never have allowed A Rod to Dwarf a guy like Jeter on the field. Cause that's what would have happened. Much more talented ball player than Jeter.

  • @ronboss7
    @ronboss7 5 лет назад

    Did you know that A-rods number 13 is (-2) Opposite of Jeter number 2.... 1-3= -2 Is a nice link since they were both shortstops and A-rod moved to 3rd when he came to NY. hmm

    From a statistical standpoint (2007 notwithstanding), A-Rod was an exceptionally good player for the Yankees over those 12 seasons. And as we all know, we don't win the '09 World Series without him.
    In the bigger picture, he was very good. The only thing that kept him from becoming great was himself.
