Crystal clear waters by the beach. Wonderful plants. Colourful displays. Sunny day. Ice Creams. What more can you ask for? Thank you for showing us around Trebah. x J x
Seeing this stunning video makes me wish I could time travel back to the 70s & 80s when we used to visit most of the beautiful gardens in Cornwall, and it didn’t cost an arm and a leg to get in, parking was never a problem there was always a lovely friendly gentleman in a little wooden hut at the entrance waiting with a smile to take your very reasonable entrance fee, how sensible was that to have no hassle with technical money machines waiting to devour our hard earned money, ideal holidays are a thing of the past mores the pity, but mine are just a distant dream now:) thank you Sarah & Andrew for a few lovely memories, bless you both 🥰🥀🤗
Good morning, wow absolutely fabulous 😊so beautiful worth visiting Cornwall just to visit the gardens! What a contrast from The Eden project.Thank you both
Fantastic place to visit. We went there while on holiday in June. After watching loads of your videos, we planned our holiday round them and had an amazing week visiting places you'd covered. Thank you for the time & effort that you put into these videos. Best holiday ever. ❤
Beautiful gardens when you visit there you have this overwhelming gratitude to all those men who left that beach to keep us safe thankyou will never be enough bless them all ❤
Love this garden. So glad that you enjoyed it as much as I do. As long as one is reasonably fit - it is great for young and old alike. ( there are plenty of seats to rest on when one is walking back up). The one magical thing that you didn't mention is that when you are there you cannot hear a single machine/car. Lovely@
We visited Trebah on our first ever walking holiday, along the SWCP,some years ago. We were utterly amazed, esspesialy by the Gunnera walk! What a wonderful Garden🌸
We are so lucky to have this garden almost next door! We go a couple of times a week. So beautiful, very busy now though, lots of coach tours in the summer.
I was there just a week ago as I took a friend to see the gardens who had not been before. We had a beautiful sunny day, the gardens were superb and well worth a visit ❤
Lovely video. This garden looks so beautiful. Wr sadly missed it when we were in the area, because of thunder and lightening. And when that was over we had to fet on our feet and walk further on to reach Falmouth in time for check in at the hotel. Trebah garden is still on ny bucket list 🥰 Thank you. Torunn 🥰
I love it at Trebah , it has everything , lovely walks , gardens and a sweet little beach. Went a few years ago in the spring, would throughly recommend it.
Thank you, this is my favourite garden in Cornwall & haven't been for a while. The new walled garden looked beautiful. I remember going there on a guided tour back in the 80's & the lady of the house deheaded, by hand, all the hydrangeas for lent. What a task !!!
Thanks for another great video…I visit Trebah every year, and I agree it’s the best garden in England, especially when the hydrangeas are in full bloom. The beach is stunning, and I always manage to collect sea glass there too. Personally I don’t think the price is too steep, as you get a lot of garden and beach for your money, and we always spend most of the day there.
Many thanks for posting this video, in fact many thanks for all your videos, absolutely amazing. We are now going to pay Trebah a visit when we come down to Cornwall in September. All the best and thank you both again 👍
I have been there, it's wonderful. It's a delight to see how your wonderment takes 10 years off you both, especially in among the Gunnera. Your faces change!
Thank you for your video which, as always, is light hearted and informative. Some people have remarked on the cost of entrance to Trebah. This garden is self funding so relies on takings for the upkeep. Perhaps also worth a mention that as it is an RHS Partner Garden, so RHS members get free entrance between November and March. It’s a beautiful garden and well worth a visit any time of the year.
A great video, and a superb garden. These are the sort of videos you're really good at, promoting the beauty of Cornwall and inspiring people to visit, many thanks.
That is amazing so many plants all put together. The price seems alot more manageable as well. I've been craving a proper flavour ice cream and you two are so lucky the rum and raisin one on the board was making me wish I was at the seaside😊
Hello Thank you as always or your presentation. The most sophisticated & technological tele, could never do justice to your experience of the garden that you were enjoying. It's your value added that with your broadcasting skill, make up for that. I just sit back & enjoy, nearly as it I was with you. Thank you so much.
I love Trebah - It was just so relaxing to watch you walk through history - the ‘Fox’ family were one of the great plant hunters of there time and we benefit now looking at these wonderful specimen of trees and plants. Thank you Sarah and Andrew for this gentle reminder that I need to re visit sometime soon.
What a beautiful garden. We also have a beautiful botanical garden: Chicago Botanic Garden about a half hour from us. There’s also a conservatory right in Chicago proper. Been to our Chicago Botanic Garden many times. It has 385 acres with 27 gardens, one is a Japanese garden with a pond: my favorite. I think I’d like your garden better as it seems to have more unique plants. So glad you shared it with us. Congrats on the sea glass. 😊
What a stunning garden and setting, the whole layout & planting a real piece of paradise! Also, incredibly well maintained & litter-free (Eden Project take note). For what you get (the amazing beach & facilities and that well curated history exhibtion) I think the entrance fee is worth every penny. And it's good to see you enjoying yourselves in such a beautiful place. It's definitely on my wish list :)
@@CornishWalkingTrails You've just prompted a thought...I'd love to hear you both chatting, over a lunch or afternoon tea (maybe in a setting like Trebah,) about what inspired you to start up a RUclips channel in the first place, and exploring ideas/projects for the future etc x
Oooo, can you? I always thought the coast path went over the bridge! You might be thinking of Glendurgan, in the next valley over with the cute little village! Sarah :)
It's all got very posh and touristy since I last went. I used to live up the road and often walked along the cliff path. It was just a small, quiet tropical garden back then. I think there was somewhere you could get a cup of tea, but there was no restaurant or bridge and nothing down at the beach. Bamboo thrives quite profusely in that area. The big gardens at Carwinion House, Mawnan Smith has some very rare bamboo and people used to come from all over the world to see it (it's now a wedding venue). The Healeys have their fingers in a lot of pies in Cornwall. Good to see Trebah is still quite natural and far, far nicer than Eden. Thanks for the update.
The Trebah Valley Garden, which has all the looks of a piece of the Himalayas are a jewel in the Crown of Cornwalls Gardens. The Chusan Palms (Trachycarpus Fortunii) in the valley, the tallest at almost 50 feet give weight to the Himalayan feel. My old photo of these palms show 3 palms, the latest photo's I see only show 2, has one blown down? These Palms are interesting as they are thought to be some of the first introductions in this Country from plants and seed that the Scottish Botanist abnd plant collector Robert Fortune collected in China in 1844 and sent to Kew. One of the Plants was planted on Request by Queen Victoria at Osborne House, so it is most probably seedlings of this seed we see at Trebah. My tallest, from seed collected at the church of St.Just-in-Roseland are a mere 12 foot 6" after 38 Years. A long way to go....
Beautiful gardens. Wonderful vlog. . Guys when were you there.. at start or Middle August???... I just want to know because I want to take my dad there next summer when the gunnera "jungle" is there. It's his favourite plant.
Next door is Glendurgan gardens more formal than Trebah. But it has a maze..Trebah is lovely because of the beach access. It used to be 5.00 to get in in the eighties. They did nice cream teas. The village of Durgan is pretty owned by the National Trust. All along Helford Passage is pretty though.I used to take my children there for their birthday parties. The private house there is very pretty.
I love Trebah. The cafe serves excellent food. You don't have to pay to enter the cafe. You can sit outside and enjoy the company of the birds, or stay inside.
Visited here today. Excellent day out if you love nature and the beauty of tress and plant. £16 admittance but this is refunded if you decide to pay for an annual visit which includes discount to lots of places. Beach is just lovely and highly recommended. Only negative - no toilets near the beach and no running water to refill water bottles and the cafe won’t do it either! Never mind, still a great day out and I would return, it’s beautiful.
Trebah is gorgeous - we took my Mum there in 2021, and thanks to a combination of factors (two big dogs, a wheelchair and an embedded rock inthe path) I ended up taking a nasty spill on the gravel path close to the beach and badly cutting my knee open. The staff at the cafe there were lovely - as was the ice cream my hubby bought to ward off the shock.... 😁
How does it compare with Heligan? May have to add it to my list to visit! Also when is the series coming on the best ice cream in Cornwall? This would be useful 😂
Hi Jane, we have visited Heligan a few times, but only filmed it once. We filmed the ‘Night garden’ which is held towards November/December. It is quite magical with the gardens lit up. Sarah 😊
There are two types of bamboo, clump-forming which are fine and the damaging ones are those that run by rhizomes. A good garden centre or nursery should be able to advise appropriately. We have a beautiful clump-forming variety with golden stems, makes a fantastic sound in the wind, which has the added bonus of deadening traffic noise. You just need to be informed and buy the right sort. Sarah :)

There's nothing as lovely as a garden with bird song, amazing colours and babbling streams.
You guys present a magic video, thank you (south african)
Just shows what the Eden project could do if it tried a bit harder. Thanks for the tour.
Such a contrast between the two gardens! Trebah is exquisite! Sarah :)

The bridge & pool look to have been inspired by Claude monets famous garden painting.
Yet another lovely video , those bamboo frighten me , they spread terribly but they do look great 👍
Lovely! Our favourite garden. Will visit in next week. X
