SAF-HOLLAND is pleased to announce the continuing development of its TRAKr trailer e-axles already in field tests in Europe. SAF-HOLLAND is now exploring opportunities, partners and key application strategies for its TRAKr trailer design here in North America. The TRAKr e-axle regeneration process harnesses the kinetic energy generated by the rotation of the tires and transforms it into electrical energy. The energy is stored in a lithium-ion battery system on the trailer which then provides power for auxiliary devices such as a trailer refrigeration unit. Traditionally, relying on diesel fuel and are anything but quiet or clean, the TRAKr trailer e-axle can provide an alternate source of power generation that is greener quieter and more efficient.
