I'd go cream. Watching on my beige fold 4 (same colour). On both, I feel it's the most subtle yet elegant colour. Needs to be seen in person to truly appreciate how good it looks!
Coming from Note 9 to the S23 Ultra definitely feels like a major upgrade, especially with the photo and video quality. Can't wait to see what they will come after 4-5 years lol Aww, the baby is sooo cute 💕

Thank you for doing this review and walkthrough. Most of the big names are making the reviews feel like a hassle. I'm switching over from iPhone 13 Pro Max to the S23 Ultra and this video made me feel better for switching.
Well that’s not a bad decision as really the only thing you’ll slightly lose is social media experience and video recording, asides those, good decision
i made the switch from the 13 pro and i honestly cannot complain, on the s23s they made it super easy to transfer data from apple over to your new Samsung. Its been about 4 days and this honestly just feels like a glorified iphone at times. i did have to say goodbye to my apple watch. The price point and some of these newer features made me switch.

I purchased it for the snapdragon upgrade, I think this is a huge turning point for Samsung and yes next year's redesign will be epic. They have aligned the s line to be consistent this year. Really looking forward next year's model as this phone is already 👌

Another fantastic review. I am surprised that in my opinion (based on your pictures) this Samsung phone takes much better pictures than the Pixel7 Pro does which is usually being recognized as the top dog for this. I have a hard time accepting the premium pricing for flagship phones in Canada but when you travel the Ultra is so good at taking pictures that I feel you can leave behind the digital camera and not regret it doing so. Samsung UI and stylus are just bonus coming along to enjoy.
Great review as usual. I would like to add that Spen is still underrated by many. It’s very useful while photo editing for masking feature when using snapseed. I jst love it.
Didn't plan to upgrade at first but my old N20U is slowly dying on me. Traded it in for a great deal after the pre-order. Limited color choices for me, so I go with the cream color. To my surprise, it looks great to me. S23U is the first phone that I ever had to have at least 1 day battery. Years back, my N20U will heat up badly when I am using my camera. Last night, I tried to shoot some photos with night mode and moon shot. The phone didn't heat up at all. Just nice and cold.
I still have my N20U and it's still working well. I was planning on holding onto it for a long time since Samsung was "getting rid of" the Note series. I'm not a foldable phone fan. They are just too thick. I'm happy to hear your reviews on the S23U. I feel better about what my options are since it does have the Spen. I use it a lot in my Note. For now, I'll keep hanging onto the Note for a good while. Let's hope they don't get rid of the Spen. Lastly, I think the S23U is just a Note phone with a better camera IMO. Thoughts?
Going to the S23 Ultra from my N20 Ultra is a crazy upgrade. The Snapdragon alone is worth it. You literally get the best of the Note 20 with an amazing Camera upgrade. This thing is fast and smooth like...its ridiculous. This is worth the upgrade.
Having both the S22 ultra S23 ultra , I feel that the S23 is samsung refining and improving what was an already great phone. Instead of creating features just for the sake of it, they have made what was great even better, and improved on what was not so great. I think more companies should do this, instead of creating features to justify spending outlandish amounts of money yearly, especially when the features feel rushed and feel like ideas which were not implemented fully.
@@jonpeach5851 has what, the improvements? Yes. It feels more refined for me. There isn't anything too spectacular and new, but you can feel the improvements from last year. Even the screen feels stronger and overall better.
I loved learning about the Standby battery 🔋 drain didn’t drain that much. I’m bored with the iPhone and want more feature. Can you please 🙏 do a what to expect when switching and common issues and how to move past them.

The smartphones are on their ass. They can't bring major updates anymore because everything they can do with a smartphone, it's all already there. The only thing they can do is to fine-tune the camera a bit every year and make the smartphone a bit faster and bring Samsung 8K 30fps that works better than the 8K 24fps ;). The battery life is also much better with the S23 Ultra, my S22 Ultra was not that good at all. They're not big upgrades anymore, but I feel those little upgrades pretty well. Everything works so smooth now. You have to turn off the animations in the settings, then the phone will go faster, you will also notice if you do or have done this with your S22 Ultra.
Well you know if you look at the stats for samsung majority of the people upgrade to a new samsung 2-3 years and most of the time they buy the last year's model for half off pretty much people that traded in there last year's model for the new one
If money isn't a big deal for you then go for it. -Better chip -Better RAM -Better read and write speed -Smoother -More on screen time -Slightly quicker to charge -Less lag on the pen -Better speakers -Better heat management -Better finger print scanner -Better cameras for pics or videos (less noise, less saturation, better dynamic range, more stability) -Can play games at the highest settings and also give better fps -Slightly better screen although max nits are the same For me, as a gamer & someone into phone photography, the battery life & camera is great.
Great review Thao. Unfortunately the issue of high percentage of blurry photos of moving subjects (kids, pets etc) still persists, even with the S23 Ultra. Seems like the various "capture speed" settings in Camera Assistant don't help the situation much either. A shame really!
Indeed the shutter lag I saw on my friend's S23+ is the reason I stay with my S21U. I rather get a small digital camera like the Canon R50 for essentially the same price, with a changeable telephoto lens added.
You are right 😃 I upgraded my note10+ to the s23 Ultra and it has been a wonderful experience, the only thing is missing for me, is the expandable memory 🤔
So happy they added that call feature, that is the only reason i got a pixel. That is a big feature if u receive alot of spam calls. I think that should be a feature on all phones.
Hey Thao,im am abit conflicted. Can't decide between S23U and 14 Pro Max. I was gonna initially gonna go with the 14 Pro Max before the S23U came out due to the phone being so refined and having great software,but it really seems as if the S23U is a big step up from the S22U in terms of efficiency and battery life. Been using my current phone(Galaxy Note 9) since the end of 2020 and it's been great. So which should I go for?
If you’re used to the android platform please don’t switch to apple lol… I made the switch last year after my note 8 broke and I’m so underwhelmed with iphone. The accessories are nice, but I really miss all the features I had on a phone that was 5 years older than my iphone 14 pro max. I’m actually going to be selling it and switching to the 23U

It depends what you will use the phone for and whether you would be comfortable switching to the Apple ecosystem. Apple has that complete package which means its all connected plus its got the best processornof any phone and has some great cameras. However if you think you would miss android too much then it may be best to stay with Samsung and upgrade to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Plus you can get a trade in discount if you trade in your Note 9.
I want them to get rid of the curved screens already. It makes getting a proper fitting tempered glass screen protector impossible unless you wanna pay $40-50 for a UV glue one. A flat screen is also better for drop durability
@guddu magicboy if coming from Exynos, YES. I love the portrait photos and overall look of landscape 📸. No overheating! I started at about 7am and I still have 17% left as I type this at 10pm. My SoT is 7h40m with WQHD and 120hz refresh rate. In the battery performance profile, I am using "light" mode. This phone is sooooo miles ahead from my old N20U Exynos.
@guddu magicboy to add on photos, you can never go wrong in using wide, main cam, 3x and 10x! Pictures are crisp and beautiful! I turned off Sammys auto smoothness tho. I like the natural look
I was big fan of foldable when I got my fold 3.. but ever since my screen cracked after11 months and got replaced by warranty, I'm trading it in for a sky blue s23 ultra! Way more reliable
@Btrain78 the folding one. Never dropped phone, the protector started to peel initially then within 2 weeks, screen cracked and one side became unresponsive. It was lucky that it happened within the warranty period but I won't trust foldable again until they markedly improve the durability. I was dumb enough to think 3rd generation would've been good enough. With the trade in bonus, I'm able to get $840 trade in credit (same as what a refurbished fold 3 is selling for retail) so I jumped on the deal for the s23 ultra. Getting the 512gb skyblue for $780 cad after trade in with free galaxy bud 2 pro. This way i know the phone will be reliable for years to come

As much as id love to get the Ultra 23 I am going to upgrade to the 23+. It's gotta be better then what I have (Flip 3) Very impressed with the S23 Ultra but price wise it's something I can't do. As always you do an amazing job at reviewing the latest in tech!

Do we want 4k on our phones? Heck yes! The better question is do we need it also yes. Doesn't feel necessary to shoot in 4k or 8k if you can't actually view it in it's original resolution.
Ok I just subscribed. Your vids are amazing, comfortable, and very professional. I tend to learn more about the latest devices here. I'll keep my Fold 4 for now because I really like the tablet experience but the S23 seems really solid.
I use the hover to translate funtion of the pen a lot actually. I read Swiss news in German, and often encounter words and phrases that I don't fully understand. The fastest way to translate is using the pen. Plenty of us dealing with foreign languages who enjoy this funtion I imagine!
That baby is so cute. Also I’ve been rocking my note 10 plus, it’s been one of my favorite galaxy phones ever. They say “if it’s not broken don’t fix it”. This year I decided to upgrade and get the 23 ultra in lavender. However I can’t seem to let go of my note 10, I’m keeping it for business use.

I do have the Galaxy S22 Ultra and just got One UI 5.1. I would love to have the Galaxy S23 Ultra but I think the Galaxy S22 Ultra is just as good for me right now and I can't afford the new phone. However if your using one If the much older devices this might be a great choice for you. I love how Samsung aren't just putting features to boast but they are refining what was great last year and just improving those features.
Thanks for the review! You didn't comment on the shutter lag. Did you experience any blurry photos when you took pictures of your 6 month old? That's what's worrying me with a Samsung phone
As a youtuber and reviewer, you are a direct line to big manufacturer feedback. You should be highlighting features that consumers still want, like expandable storage, dual sims, larger batteries and headphone jacks. These are major feature requirements that people still want in a phone that seems to be getting pushed aside, or removed and we need you to fight for them. Stop blowing smoke up iphone and samsungs butts about splitting hairs of screen resolution and camera quality and get us the major features back that we actually care about.
I have a note 10 plus, my phone is coming in a few days I was reluctant to upgrade because this phone is paid off and nothing is wrong with it but with T-Mobile getting rid of most of the 4G towers my cell service is not good they had a special so I upgraded I'm looking forward to using it and see what changes or improvements are there... mine is in Cream as well!
@paulettemccain8639 Hi I got mine a few days early from the back order. It's a very nice phone, the buttons and pen are on the opposite side of the Note 10 plus and previous phones. It's like the Maker of the phone was left-handed or something its very weird. I nearly sent it back to get a different phone because of that. But other than that the phone is great more storage, the pen does more, new settings and better camera....
@@jayseaa4524 Happy Friday. I think you will enjoy it. The battery is the same as the iPhone. So it will last you all day. You may need to charge it for a little bit in the evening but it charges fast (I use my phone a lot though). The native camera is amazing. Snap chat camera is OK but if you post from your gallery they look amazing. Finger print reader sucks with certain screen protectors. I am going to try a thinner film screen protector or just not use one. On my iPhone I never used screen protectors and now I remember why. I suggest you watch tips on how to set up your phone but you can customize it so cool. So if you are creative it's worth it. I am loving it more and more every day. I imported my icloud photos and videos to google drive. I also moved my contacts and apps. You will love it! Never hurts to try something new. This phone is powerful asf and so fast. Still like the iphone emoji's and keyboard better but with time you get used to it!
I have an S21 Ultra. Would you recommend upgrading? It would be nice to have the pen built in, instead of needing this bulky phone case just to have the pen handy. But is that enough of a reason to upgrade to the 23 Ultra in your opinion?

The problem with the google operation. System still sucks they haven’t been able to fix some of their app like for example maps and that why I change to an apple phone since I am a delivery driver I need the map, more consistently and accuracy

I currently have iPhone 11 Pro and thought about switching to Samsung (S23 or S23 ULTRA) know it’s a huge step because I’ve had iPhone for at least 5 years now. Although that, I’ve heard so many positive reviews about Samsung lately and I really want to try out. As a person who really enjoys photographing I think this phone can be the best option. OMG! Your little one just stole the show for me. I'm using a ZFold 3 right now and I'm trying to decide if I want to upgrade to the 23 Ultra. As much as I love the fold, the screen protector coming off and/or apart(in the middle) is just starting to really bug me. But my small hands enjoy the thinness of the folded phone. Thanks for the cute baby footage!
You may want to test the phone out in store first because its quite large however with the upgrades and features the phone is getting it may be best to look into prices and stuff. The refined features look awesome so maybe t will be a great match for you.

Until you use a foldable, you don't realize just how convenient they are in day-to-day use. I've a flip 4. If the Fold 5 were to come with all the hardware of the 23 Ultra, they'd likely sell kazillions.
You are right, it charges a little bit faster with my Samsung 25W charger. I'm trying to love this phone but it sometimes ruins everything when I'm shooting in strong lighting conditions, it makes the pictures look orange 🍊.

Watching this on the S23 Ultra, everything Thao mentioned in the videos are spot on, [upgraded from the s20u]. I prefer her videos over the other tech RUclipsrs because her videos are pretty much spot on.

Feels a bit funny, complaining about the writing on tight space in on 6.8" screen. I remember 2.8 - 3.5" PDA screens, which also did a lot of note taking. Sure, writing on my 12.4" Tab S8+ is way better...

I'm coming from a Note 10 plus and feels great. This is like a S Klass going through face lifts and evolution... just phenomenal.
Oh yeah man the upgrade from a note 10 is a worth it upgrade.
For me here in Germany, the biggest improve is, that we finally have the Snapdragon Version.

Indeed the shutter lag I saw on my friend's S23+ is the reason I stay with my S21U. I rather get a small digital camera like the Canon R50 for essentially the same price, with a changeable telephoto lens added.
You are right 😃 I upgraded my note10+ to the s23 Ultra and it has been a wonderful experience, the only thing is missing for me, is the expandable memory 🤔
So happy they added that call feature, that is the only reason i got a pixel. That is a big feature if u receive alot of spam calls. I think that should be a feature on all phones.
Hey Thao,im am abit conflicted. Can't decide between S23U and 14 Pro Max. I was gonna initially gonna go with the 14 Pro Max before the S23U came out due to the phone being so refined and having great software,but it really seems as if the S23U is a big step up from the S22U in terms of efficiency and battery life. Been using my current phone(Galaxy Note 9) since the end of 2020 and it's been great. So which should I go for?
If you’re used to the android platform please don’t switch to apple lol… I made the switch last year after my note 8 broke and I’m so underwhelmed with iphone. The accessories are nice, but I really miss all the features I had on a phone that was 5 years older than my iphone 14 pro max. I’m actually going to be selling it and switching to the 23U

Go for 23ultra...I m currently using s22ultra and my next phone wiil be either Iphone 15 pro max/Ultra or Samsung galaxy s24ultra.
It depends what you will use the phone for and whether you would be comfortable switching to the Apple ecosystem. Apple has that complete package which means its all connected plus its got the best processornof any phone and has some great cameras. However if you think you would miss android too much then it may be best to stay with Samsung and upgrade to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Plus you can get a trade in discount if you trade in your Note 9.

I want them to get rid of the curved screens already. It makes getting a proper fitting tempered glass screen protector impossible unless you wanna pay $40-50 for a UV glue one. A flat screen is also better for drop durability

@guddu magicboy if coming from Exynos, YES. I love the portrait photos and overall look of landscape 📸. No overheating! I started at about 7am and I still have 17% left as I type this at 10pm. My SoT is 7h40m with WQHD and 120hz refresh rate. In the battery performance profile, I am using "light" mode. This phone is sooooo miles ahead from my old N20U Exynos.
@guddu magicboy to add on photos, you can never go wrong in using wide, main cam, 3x and 10x! Pictures are crisp and beautiful! I turned off Sammys auto smoothness tho. I like the natural look
I was big fan of foldable when I got my fold 3.. but ever since my screen cracked after11 months and got replaced by warranty, I'm trading it in for a sky blue s23 ultra! Way more reliable

@Btrain78 the folding one. Never dropped phone, the protector started to peel initially then within 2 weeks, screen cracked and one side became unresponsive. It was lucky that it happened within the warranty period but I won't trust foldable again until they markedly improve the durability. I was dumb enough to think 3rd generation would've been good enough. With the trade in bonus, I'm able to get $840 trade in credit (same as what a refurbished fold 3 is selling for retail) so I jumped on the deal for the s23 ultra. Getting the 512gb skyblue for $780 cad after trade in with free galaxy bud 2 pro. This way i know the phone will be reliable for years to come

Ok I just subscribed. Your vids are amazing, comfortable, and very professional. I tend to learn more about the latest devices here. I'll keep my Fold 4 for now because I really like the tablet experience but the S23 seems really solid.
I use the hover to translate funtion of the pen a lot actually. I read Swiss news in German, and often encounter words and phrases that I don't fully understand. The fastest way to translate is using the pen. Plenty of us dealing with foreign languages who enjoy this funtion I imagine!

I do have the Galaxy S22 Ultra and just got One UI 5.1. I would love to have the Galaxy S23 Ultra but I think the Galaxy S22 Ultra is just as good for me right now and I can't afford the new phone. However if your using one If the much older devices this might be a great choice for you. I love how Samsung aren't just putting features to boast but they are refining what was great last year and just improving those features.

Still some occasional blur here and there when she's moving a lot.
As a youtuber and reviewer, you are a direct line to big manufacturer feedback.
You should be highlighting features that consumers still want, like expandable storage, dual sims, larger batteries and headphone jacks.
These are major feature requirements that people still want in a phone that seems to be getting pushed aside, or removed and we need you to fight for them.
Stop blowing smoke up iphone and samsungs butts about splitting hairs of screen resolution and camera quality and get us the major features back that we actually care about.
I have a note 10 plus, my phone is coming in a few days I was reluctant to upgrade because this phone is paid off and nothing is wrong with it but with T-Mobile getting rid of most of the 4G towers my cell service is not good they had a special so I upgraded I'm looking forward to using it and see what changes or improvements are there... mine is in Cream as well!

@paulettemccain8639 Hi I got mine a few days early from the back order. It's a very nice phone, the buttons and pen are on the opposite side of the Note 10 plus and previous phones.
It's like the Maker of the phone was left-handed or something its very weird.
I nearly sent it back to get a different phone because of that.
But other than that the phone is great more storage, the pen does more, new settings and better camera....

@@jayseaa4524 Happy Friday. I think you will enjoy it. The battery is the same as the iPhone. So it will last you all day. You may need to charge it for a little bit in the evening but it charges fast (I use my phone a lot though). The native camera is amazing. Snap chat camera is OK but if you post from your gallery they look amazing. Finger print reader sucks with certain screen protectors. I am going to try a thinner film screen protector or just not use one. On my iPhone I never used screen protectors and now I remember why. I suggest you watch tips on how to set up your phone but you can customize it so cool. So if you are creative it's worth it. I am loving it more and more every day. I imported my icloud photos and videos to google drive. I also moved my contacts and apps. You will love it! Never hurts to try something new. This phone is powerful asf and so fast. Still like the iphone emoji's and keyboard better but with time you get used to it!

I currently have iPhone 11 Pro and thought about switching to Samsung (S23 or S23 ULTRA) know it’s a huge step because I’ve had iPhone for at least 5 years now. Although that, I’ve heard so many positive reviews about Samsung lately and I really want to try out. As a person who really enjoys photographing I think this phone can be the best option. OMG! Your little one just stole the show for me. I'm using a ZFold 3 right now and I'm trying to decide if I want to upgrade to the 23 Ultra. As much as I love the fold, the screen protector coming off and/or apart(in the middle) is just starting to really bug me. But my small hands enjoy the thinness of the folded phone.

You may want to test the phone out in store first because its quite large however with the upgrades and features the phone is getting it may be best to look into prices and stuff. The refined features look awesome so maybe t will be a great match for you.

Until you use a foldable, you don't realize just how convenient they are in day-to-day use. I've a flip 4. If the Fold 5 were to come with all the hardware of the 23 Ultra, they'd likely sell kazillions.

You are right, it charges a little bit faster with my Samsung 25W charger. I'm trying to love this phone but it sometimes ruins everything when I'm shooting in strong lighting conditions, it makes the pictures look orange 🍊.

Feels a bit funny, complaining about the writing on tight space in on 6.8" screen. I remember 2.8 - 3.5" PDA screens, which also did a lot of note taking. Sure, writing on my 12.4" Tab S8+ is way better...
I bought Note 20 too other than S.23 Ultra. I can't believe they culled Note series.
