The way this series, ever since its beginnings, portrayed abuse in such variety always fascinated me. It's also incredibly interesting how Toyama, after leaving and making Siren, also still used similar themes, Siren 2 literally has its main antagonist be simply called Mother and she's also somewhat of a metaphor for something that completely replaces one's individuality with her direct will, it's probably that game's greatest strength besides being so ocean-focused and having a stage where you play as an almost blind protagonist.
Also, with Angela, the "masculine" violence she suffered and is being haunted with is the most obvious and jarring, and every point about it from the video rings true, but it's the "feminine" violence, the blame and guilt she got from her mother, that's keeping her trapped in it, believing there's no way out for her, and it's her mother who she stays to keep looking for
Angela's "mother" is the Hope in her mind she wasn't bad. Her Father is the Darkness, and her Mother is the Light, the Light denied. And if the Reality that her Mother isn't the Light ever reaches, then..... Angela will give herself a new light , a Hellfire. Because, for her, it's always like this. She just... was pretending it wasn't.
It’s so refreshing to hear a discussion about gender-and especially of how violence relates to gender-that doesn’t boil down to the conclusion that one gender is good and the other is bad. There’s too much finger-pointing everywhere and not enough people realize that, as you said in the video, it’s important to have a balance of both femininity and masculinity to remain healthy and well-rounded. Great video as always!
I find it really interesting that aside from moments of violence, I think the games never truly have the characters physically interact with each other. And it is that distance between the characters that truly makes you find it hard to understand who to trust and who not to. We always try to read people’s intentions through the way they act around us, but in Silent Hill everybody is distant, even the characters who never hide anything from us.
I've been a fan of Silent Hill for literally over 20 years now, and your intellect deciphers so many things about their symbolism that have gone waaay over even my head
Muse, I appreciate your nuanced breakdown of this topic. No where in your assessment did I sense judgement, just observations. Which is really appreciated. As a viewer of your content for the last 2 years, I've come to expect a nuanced and fair analysis of whatever topic you discuss and you are consistent in putting out such discussion of delicate topics. Thank you!!
you're the only other person i've encountered with the Bell Jar interpretation of helen grady. i was really starting to feel silly with that observation...
Muse, I must ask and the question is open to any/all fans reading this: Do you think Bloober will "nerf" Angela's backstory in the remake? It was never directly mentioned but strongly alluded to that she was a victim of r**e/inc**t . Times have changed since 2001.
I actuallly think there's a chance it'll be more explicit, since in 2001 they didn't even say the words or mention the topic, it was only ever implied. The possibility to be more overt makes me somewhat hopeful for the remake.
@@thegamingmuseThat maybe true as well. I just don't want to see her turned into a boss fight like Eddie. She was confrontational because she was traumatized but not a villain. You could feel the dread and hopelessness when she walked away from him on the stairs.
I love your videos, honestly. The way you analyse and communicate has got me hooked to your content for years. You've opened my eyes to so many nuances and details in videogames that I get to appreciate more now. Cheers from Spain! 🖤
This is one of the most interesting analysis I`ve seen of SH for a while. I tend to come across many good video essays of SH, but most of them don`t bring any new info or perspectives into the table. This one focuses on themes I`ve seen before, but the take on them it`s quite different and interesting. I like that it also goes through all the franchise. Very very entertaining and well explained.
I could listen to you talk all day about Silent Hill, Muse. May I ask what that music was in the beginning of the video, during your ad? It was quite beautiful, I'd love to add it to my playlist.
I consider Alessa, and then Heather, as the avatars of Silent Hill's "God". Alessa suffered, so I believe that is why she was chosen. I consider Dahlia and Claudia as heretics by attempting to resurrect God. I believe God has ritual manipulation, which is why the rituals only result in the summoning of the monster. The cult already has the origin story of God, so why add strange rituals to the religion? I think Silent Hill's Entity, as well as "her" concept manipulation, made the added lore of the religion somewhat true just to entertain the religion. If only Heather could realize her power and learn how to harness it. In my opinion, I think Heather unknowingly created the "Memory of Alessa" via her fear of mirrors, as well as concept corporealism, yet, there was no way to know that she created the monster.
Silent Hill 3 perfectly conveyed the price of womanhood. Heather used to be Cheryl, and the cult's connection to abuse really stood out. Harry can have feminine traits to him, but he is still male and a father. In Silent Hill 2, it took time until Angela came to notice that not all men are bad, since James made her feel that way after he faced the manifestation of her father. Now back to SH3, it delved into how being a woman can be very difficult, whether it's menstruation or pregnancy or being a mother; Heather had to face that when coming to terms of growing up and noticing Vincent and Claudia's ambitions. Either men or women could be abusive or not, it's a recurring theme in Silent Hill, not to mention Silent Hills was originally gonna have this turned on it's own head(especially with the monster you faced in P.T. known as Lisa, who's most likely the revenant of the same woman murdered by her husband before she could give birth), but it sadly never came to light due to Konami's mistreatment of Kojima, and Silent Hills tragically canceled. But still, it will possibly subvert what's mentioned here in this video if the game ever released.
Excellent video as always Muse. It’s really interesting seeing how gender affects the horror experience for the protag and the player. I’ve only see a few videos on the matter aside from Silent Hill: ValkyrieAurora’s Haunting Ground vid (female horror exp) and Geek Remix’s Outlast vid (male horror exp)
Muse... I'm positive that your analysis of SH games are the best in the whole youtube, and I bet they're better in other platforms as well. I follow you since few years ago, and I never saw such detailed, deep and complete analysis (about Silent Hill and other games) like yours. Awesome!!
Harry; transformed into a woman because he cares about his daughter and fights monsters, very feminine traits apparently. Thankfully Taken, The last of us and the game Lisa has given us more media with father figures fighting monsters. I still can't get over he refused to make a silent hill 2 movie because he couldn't see a man like James dealing with the grief of his losing wife, I have a few concerns with Return to silent hill with that whole contention looming over the development.
Why does no one remember the word paternal?? It's the maternal equivalent of not the same exact thing. It's so sexist and unfair to men to think we can never be caring or victims. It's so unfair. That is why I loved the Silent Hill games. At least the first 3
Hey muse! I just recently started to watch your SH analysis videos after replaying SH2/SH3 a few years ago and they still hold up so well, it has actually given me more insight now than before because I was a very troubled teen back then hahaha. Do you think that they should add a monster that represents Eddie’s trauma like Angela in the SH2 remake?
Aawwwwww yissss! Always hungry for more lady takes on SH3. There's a shocking lack of feminine critique on a game that so uniquely explores the horror of pregnancy, menstruation, and motherhood.
@@FocusedFighter777 No it doesn't? Even if it did that doesn't mean anything, someone could call themselves Girly McGirl Girl on youtube if they wanted and still be a man if that's how they identify and who they are.
I love how the game is regaining traction with the right virws of this game. The og silent hill games are my fav series, but this one i relate to so much in the idea of horror against women
u guys are bugging out. The game had a female protagonist because it was a natural conclusion for the story as a sequel to SH1. It's not about that in the big picture. It's a survival horror game that has the player controlling a teenager.
Great content. It portrays not only the numerous layers within the series lore but also how these same layers of complexity are driven by a structurally violent society. This video dialogues perfectly with the "Exploring Womanhood through Horror" from tangomushi. Another great one as well.
Thank you for the sigh at the director of the movies sexist comments. People forget that males can be paternal, and caretaker like you said. This IS the Silent Hill video that needed to be made. Thank you!!!
Also, all the final bosses for the first three games are feminine, or at least, they have feminine traits like the Incubus that appears to be a hermaphrodite (a hermaphrodite chimera, based on the image of the Baphomet, that's it). And don't forget that Silent Hill is heavily influenced by the works of Lynch, which, present a lot of male violence towards female characters, like Blue Velvet, Lost Highway and Twin Peaks. In regards of the ending of the first game, I thought that Toyama said that the Good+ ending was the true ending and, in fact, it's the only ending on the game that overwrites the memory card to show Cybil in the place of Harry's wife in the opening movie when Harry finds Cheryl. For me, Silent Hill 3 have always been the one that made things wrong in terms of continuity (and not only for that reason).
Its why i always considered silent hill 3 to be more like a twisted fairy tale from heather's mind rather than a direct sequel of 1 with better graphics
I may have asked this before in a comment to another video, but just in case: have you by chance read the book _The Monstrous-Feminine_ by Barbara Creed? She applies the psychoanalytic insights of Sigmund Freud and Julia Kristeva to horror movies and in doing so examines deeper layers of meaning regarding anxieties about origins, sexuality, death, and familial strife. It's truly a fascinating read, even though I had to take it with a grain of salt every now and then.
She doesn't know that when they first meet. She was likely taught by Harry to be extra wary toward strangers, since she describes him as a "worrywart" who even gave her a stun gun for protection. Not to mention lore mentions Harry killed someone associated with the order in self defense to protect Heather.
@@ivratsdargy955 Fair point. Come to think of it, back in the day my brother commented Douglas was a pretty crappy detective. His approach to Heather just screams creeper.
@@DrownedInExile Yeah, I don't know why he thought waiting in front of the ladies' room door was the route to go lol. Once you learn he's a good person it makes that scene funnier to rewatch, like he's just thinking "I dunno what the f% I'm doin'" the whole time.
Reminds me of Charly Manson, who repeatedly chimed "I NEVER KILLED NOBODY" from interviews in prison. Jut like Claudia, he "merely gave the orders" Hell Hath No Fury like a feminine-violence-maker
This was an interesting dive, and a good way for me to remember those games, since my last replay was 10+ years ago. The value judgements on "this behavior is male-ish, this behavior is female-ish" seemed like an arbitrary foundation to get a bit more _analysis juice_ out of characters supposedly breaking type by being being male or female. However, since this was more like a thread to follow along the exploration of SH1, 3, and 0, and not the building up of a grand argument/prescription/scolding, I was able to just go "Huh why is _that_ male-ish or female-ish?" and keep enjoying the video edit: and 4, lol
_"Vincent deals one of the heaviest blows to Heather's psyche-"_ that lasts only a second as he immediately backpedals by underlining that it was a joke. This sequence of events is baffling because for that brief moment, he had the vulnerable teenager who could potentially destroy his comfy lifestyle in his grasp. It could have led Heather into a severe mental crisis, questioning everything she had done and complicating her next steps. Instead, all we're left with is a missed opportunity for a shocking twist that could have elevated SH3 to similar heights as its predecessor, all the while diminishing the credibility of Vincent as an intelligent antagonist -- and it makes him foolishly turning his back on an anguished Claudia all the more foreseeable.
I always took that line as a show of dominance; claiming it's "just a joke" but underneath his smirk conveying something more like "Don't forget who you're talking to/I'm still smarter than you". Leaving Heather in a mental spiral wouldn't have helped him in his goals.
@@ivratsdargy955 Why wouldn't it? It would make Heather's path for vengeance exponentially harder thus postponing the birth seeing as the incubator develops the fetus through hatred and anger. Becoming aware that instead of monsters she was murdering humans would completely disrupt both Claudia's and Heather's plans, while Vincent would enjoy his position in the church having the cake and eating it too.
@@Tretas. More importantly he wants to put an end to Claudia, even other members apparently don't like her all too much either if the audio cassette is anything to go by. Vincent believes that the Seal of Metatron will stop her and only if used by Heather because he "doesn't have powers like them". Heather's path for vengeance slowing down would only make it harder for him. He doesn't care about Heather's life, even though he later states that both of their deaths would please him, but they are begrudgingly allies against Claudia. Vincent backs away when faced with the threat of physical violence, but doubles down in a battle of wits.
@@ivratsdargy955 I'm sorry but that makes zero sense. So risking the apocalypse is favourable to stopping the incubator outright? The worst case scenario of his plan happened: he croaked. The worst case scenario to him not backpedaling would just be his previous plan continuing. There were no wits; his actions evidenced this first by the above and then by him turning his back on Claudia.
Which is by affirming the agenda and not having a discussion😂 you are well on the path that everyone wants you to be on ... Congratulations Maybe you shouldn't be playing video games
@Grier-we3cn "Broaching the subject of legs? Must be THE GAY AGENDA!" It must be exhausting living your life; constantly looking over your shoulder, wondering when the rainbow people are going to come for you. Over-examining everything that happens, trying to pick out what is and isn't part of this agenda you think permeates every facet of life. Avoiding contact with anything spherical, lest someone think you like testicles, and screaming "NO HOMO!" inside your head every ten minutes to let whoever's listening on the other end of your microchip that you're onto them. Guess what buddy? We are onto you. Video games were invented solely to entice you into the lifestyle, slowly goading you in with large pixelated man-butts and loading times just long enough to give you time to consider the implications of what might be beneath the surface of Harry Mason's 32-bit corduroy pants.
You ever been in a storm, Wally? I mean, a real storm? Not a thunderstorm, but a storm of fists raining down on your head. Blasting you in the face. Pummeling you in the stomach. Hitting you in the chest so hard you think your heart's gonna stop. You ever been in a storm like that, Wally?
I feel like this fell apart towards the end because I don't buy the idea of Walter Sullivan being feminine when it's established that he's a violent misogynist who specifically targets women because he was denied a relationship with his mother. Toxic masculinity doesn't express itself solely through violence and aggression, especially if the person they are interacting with is someone they feel that they can relate to, so I feel like it's a bit tenuous to say that his lack of open aggression towards Henry (who is basically the person that Walter could have been if raised in another environment, them both being orphans who have difficulty feeling comfortable around people) does much to support that reading. As I interpret things, Walter is more explicitly an example of someone who feels entitled to control women and use their bodies without asking for consent. The guy is abusing and torturing women so that he can force his way back into a symbolic representation of his mother's womb. The whole thing is deeply rooted in an Oedipus complex informed by a lifetime of physical, sexual* and emotional abuse at the hands of the people who took him in as a child. As it stands though, this is rooted in a difference of opinion in how we interpret these characters, so I can admit that it may be my personal interpretation not lining up with yours that made me feel like it was a bit off-base. *there's no explicit indication of this, but given the fact that so much of the events from the series tie back to the forcible impregnation of a minor, the Angela subplot from SH2 and the implication that Walter's parents may have been cult members themselves who fled the town in order to birth him in secret (possibly because of what happens to other children) gives me the impression that Alyssa wasn't the only person receiving that kind of attention. This is probably the most speculative aspect of how I read the series but it seems logical to me and it also reflects the types of activities that tend to occur in real life cults. You are free to enjoy the series without speculating on this. I think that it makes for a much more reprehensible version of the cult but they're bad enough without this being part of the story.
This makes me think of the game Haunting Ground by Capcom. The protagonist, Fiona, is pretty much just a child, being only 18. And the antagonists are all representative of a woman's genuine IRL fears. I refuse to play the game since one of the antagonists brutally *r word*s her if she gets caught by him and you see the horrific aftermath as a bad ending you can unlock. I nearly puked seeing this and genuinely surprised Capcom went THERE
I like that god is a woman in silent hill 3 I think god can be whatever u want. N yah I think it’s crazy when it hits u valtyl is basically the Obstetrician for the birth of god. I think silent hill 3 has a lotta symbolism of struggles woman still face today Claudia & Vincent represent a brainwashed Christian who would Apose abortion and Vincent would represent a agnostic or progressive Christian. I think it is beautiful even thoe silent hill is the master of drip feeding u subtle message this one was spoon fed but for good reason it was two people can believe the same religion but believe completely different things
Story for another day but yah that is so immersion breaking that the incubus, pyramid head & valtyl where supposed to be what you perceive these demons as then in every Konami games just threw pyramid head in like he is the jigsaw of the franchise… it made no sense he was supposed to represent that James killed his wife the exocutioner valtyl representing the doctor n is actually there to bring Heather back to life to have her birth god is just one of the most twisted symbols in horror like 100% it was one thing they made Heather a female protagonist then made her pregnant with the anti christ essentially that classic horror story, but then they went and made all the monsters of her world about pregnancy abuse n body dysmorphia 3 is the best in the series to me cuz it didn’t shy away from those horrible ideas n u truly see the series shine at its best with the concept of everyone perceives monsters as different past traumas it’s ur own personal hell yah 3 honestly is the best horror game ever made I hope going forward we see more themes like this but idk if we ever will I really appreciate these deep dives into the lore the game is so special to me n even thoe we have had the longest dry spell for a new game. U still continue to find new themes n concepts to explore ur series has helped me gain so much inspiration for my 3D animation about the 7 deadly sins I have been working n writing for it for a long time I really want to create a horror series that looks like the games in a lotta ways with the textures but goin for something a bit more like Tim Burton in style of character design but yes thank u for keeping RUclips stocked with content of this kind I really appreciate it! It is so rare u find people irl who know about silent hill let alone the symbolism or the lore which u can talk for days about!
I think In 3 the confession booth is also someone who is in the cult or church and was basically forced to kill her child because she couldn’t take care of it n that really ties into the abortion thing as well. How people could view it as murder a innocent n that would send u to hell. I think it’s a really cool choice I would always answer yes your absolved of your sin however the line blurs because she could have been a awful parent u never know n that really got u to think for a second but I really do just hit yes everytime however it’s weird how it takes away points for showing forgiveness. I believe it had something to do with claiming to know gods will and Heather becoming god so she kinda falls into role of what god would do thus making Claudia’s plan come to fruition because I think god is forgiving to those who repent simple as that she was sobbing so she showed remorse for her actions however u never know n that moral ambiguity is great but the subjectivity is still really shrouded around the belief that if u abort a soul u doom a child to live in purgatory that is why the mother begs to go to purgatory instead of hell to see her child again I believe n yeah I think silent hill is supposed to be purgatory a place that isn’t heaven or hell but could lead you to either of those if u aren’t carbon
@@A_RUclips_Commenter I mean here’s the thing about god I believe spirits cannot do anything in the mortal world. I believe god is a spirit with holy powers I believe that’s where they would be able to give u another life, meditate, ask questions n become enlightened beyond belief but when it comes to u getting prayers answered it is almost 90% of the time merely coincidence. N I think god can be anything you imagine I like what they did in South Park no show has ever depicted god in a good way to me so when they made him a hippo orangutang XD made me laugh I’m almost with Muslim ethics about portraying god themselves on tv but draw what u want imagine god how u will I just think the Christian interoperation of god being a dude with a beard n robe is one of the stupidest things ever conceived n makes us all look like idiots. As fun as it is to turn ur brain off n think god made it all etc they have all this divine control idk whatever u did 612 of gods laws but u didn’t get curciumsized so we are cutting u out of heaven it was the most vital of all the commandments xD that typa stuff is funny I think god would literally just be able to see how evolution apocalypse goes yet could watch by do nothing but because they have the awareness that a soul can be reset they would be fine with seeing things suffer and die somehow. Cuz those animals could live on in a safer place where Buddhist actually believe there is a entire realm or heaven for animals whose to say that they didn’t like them enough to just wanna keep ‘em all in heaven for animals but yah agnostic beliefs in all this shit we were put on this earth to feel joy heaven is just the earth
I disliked the silent hill films, because of the b.s. reason why Harry didn't go after his daughter, because a man would be less likely to do so??? Harry was a good person and went through living hell just to find his daughter and bring her home, there are fathers out there that would do the same. Women are painted as evil in Silent Hill many times over.
No, it's more about how they developed certain behaviors because of the environment they grew up in - in this case, you could say Claudia and Vincent became manipulative and emotionally unstable because the cult/Claudia's father physically abused them.
@@thegamingmuseHave you ever covered the disassociate disorder of James ending Mary? There are crimes where people block out horrible deeds done. He mentioned struggling with drinking at one point. Just an idea.
@@thegamingmuse So, you believe that an emotionally unstable character leads to introverted behaviors like mind games and manipulations?! But, thats the exactly characteristics of a female. Only guys which been raised by women or weak men are able to adopt these behaviors, because all strong men are upfront and saying always out loud what's on their mind. That's why I think the creators of the game, made all characters female and male the villains, by giving them only female characteristics.
Exactly, that BS should not exist. I was just writing about this, the best humans I find in life are the ones that share many "men" and "womenly" traits: because this is what makes a human, human. Not stereotypes. Sadly many make tons of cash off this.
How in the world did they view Harry as even remotely feminine!? Even back in 1999 Despite him not being a fighter, he quickly adapts, perseveres, and stops at nothing to save his daughter. How is that feminine!? That is true man though-andt-through!! To go through literal hell-world to save Cheryl... I was actually Disappointed when I saw a mother took the lead instead of Harry (Sean Bean) when I saw it in theaters. Well, now I know why. S€xisism mostly toward men who have genuine emotions for their child (cuz only women have those 🙄). Yikes. 😅. As I stated, I had no idea that was the reason. Pretty disappointing amongst other things.
Imma keep it real with you chief-- a substantial amount of the points in this video would fall apart under scrutiny. You tend to gloss over contradicting evidence or omit it entirely.
Well said. Men (or women) are not the problem. It's the culture that poisons the masculine and the feminine. The problem is gender. That's why we must persevere until gender is abolished. I played Silent Hill before I began University, where I studied Psychology and Psychoanalysis. I played Silent Hill 2 and 3 during and after my studies, and my understanding of the later games was deeper and richer than my understanding of the first game. Since I lost my copy of Silent Hill, I never had a chance to replay the game. I might emulate it sometime in the future but my PC doesn't run PS1 games well. Anyway, Dahlia abusing her daughter is a by-the-book example (obviously exaggerated, as fiction, and horror in particular, requires; we might say, converting a real world situation into a symbol) of the Oedipus Complex as experienced by women (both mother and daughter), in which both the mother and the daughter experiment and express increasing hostility towards each other, until the father/husband intervenes (law of the father).
Exactly. Yet there is so little people that seem to ever get this: everyone else is just spreading this neverneding BS that is constantly damaging EVERYONE. So sick of this.

The female villains of SH use their words instead of action? Claudia killed Harry, Vincent and attempted to kill Douglas. And the whole inciting incident of the saga was Dahlia burning her daughter alive. I appreciate anyone’s interest in these games but people need to get a grip. This is over-intellectualizing themes and ideas that are not there. For some reason, SH has a strange allure that attracts all kinds of “interesting” or “unique” characters who try to identify with the games by seeing what they want to see in them. The teams who made SH watched a lot of movies and came up with a story about cults, death, consciousness, etc. The games have themes I guess but they’re all fairly simplistic and speak for themselves. I swear SH fans think they’re in an Olympics that they win by reading deeper into the games than anyone else. These games are brilliant because they’re immersive and atmospheric, and the savants who made them did a lot of research into various occult subjects, took inspiration from other fiction and incorporated real life experiences or anecdotes that lent authenticity to the experience. They’re fun GAMES, not some kind of thesis or dissertation about psychology and human nature. It started with a car crash and a man’s daughter going missing - and the rest is history. At this point, if you’re making videos about SH instead of playing it - you’re missing something. And no matter how badly you want SH to reflect your gender theory -- it never will. The Japanese who made it were cool, apolitical and intense artists and technical people whose aim was to unsettle the player as they explored the world of the game.

A fantastic analysis, Muse. Rarely anyone addresses the differences in learned patterns of violence between men and women and how they affect people.

" A Detective.. Really?"
"Well.. Nice talking to you "
I really love how you delve into all the aspects of each silent hill game. Your voice is so soothing as i drift off to sleep xo
These are themes that I hadn't noticed. But they add so much depth to the narrative. Thanks for the video.

When I hear forced impregnation there are two medias that come to mind: "Alien" and "Silent Hill".
It's Puddle of Infinity's "had she stayed" and patches, To have to in Least Water. Those were the two songs used in the video.
Thank you! you are really keeping me going, while I'm going slowly insane from waiting for SH2 to drop on PS5 😢❤🖤
What? Friday, a bottle of wine and a new video? Awesome 🖤
I like the way you connect the games, i feel like trying them myself now, so thank you for that.
Literally my two favorite topics, gender and Silent Hill. This video was tailor made for me 🥹

Yeah, that director is... sigh. At the very least the movie will probably be pretty to look at.
Atleast Return to Silent Hill seems to be the catalyst for silent hills return

I wouldn't be surprised if they did! More detail to Eddie (and Laura)'s backgrounds might be a nice addition to the story.
I love this video! Had me hooked from start to finish.
Makes me think of Ellen Ripley and other great characters.
Aawwwwww yissss! Always hungry for more lady takes on SH3. There's a shocking lack of feminine critique on a game that so uniquely explores the horror of pregnancy, menstruation, and motherhood.
And let me be clear; ladies who can't become pregnant or menstruate will still have a valid and interesting female take on SH3, IMO
The gamingmuse is not female 😅

Brilliant analysis. On point.
The twist is Vincent is talking about the Missionary enemies. They were members of the cult.
Great content. It portrays not only the numerous layers within the series lore but also how these same layers of complexity are driven by a structurally violent society. This video dialogues perfectly with the "Exploring Womanhood through Horror" from tangomushi. Another great one as well.
What is that song used in your opening and your sponsorship

Had She Stayed by Puddle of Infinity
@@Kitefel omg thank you :3
How you manage to still make content about these games is crazy to me.
Ohhhh what’s the music at the start of the video? It’s gorgeous
I believe it's Puddle of Infinity's "had she stayed". Or it's patches, To have to in Least Water. Those were the two songs used in the video.
12:35 Hold on. Heather doesn't trust Douglas because he was hired by Claudia. Not because he was a man.
That said, interesting analysis.

Excellent analysis. Very well done 👏
However, since this was more like a thread to follow along the exploration of SH1, 3, and 0, and not the building up of a grand argument/prescription/scolding, I was able to just go "Huh why is _that_ male-ish or female-ish?" and keep enjoying the video
edit: and 4, lol
Getting older slashers are now scariest to me since it’s so real

Honestly, I think 4 is the only game in the series that 'strictly' adheres to stereotypical gender roles and actions.

I nearly puked seeing this and genuinely surprised Capcom went THERE
Just stop been a pussy and play it, it's just a game. How many humans in games have you seen turned into red mush, no one had a problem then.
God might be a woman because s man would never let the dinosaurs go extinct.
I literally can’t even listen to the first 2 minutes.

Does it means that all male characters are actually females!?
Because this would make sense now!
Oh I think he's definitely got some dissociation of some kind going on for most of the story.

Pretty disappointing amongst other things.

Imma keep it real with you chief-- a substantial amount of the points in this video would fall apart under scrutiny. You tend to gloss over contradicting evidence or omit it entirely.
Ah, couldn't put "violence" in the title I see
Exactly.

It just shows your community has a lack of depth and understanding for art and that you never really understood what the story was about.....
@@Tretas. I never want to be accepted by your type of people. And I would never support anything that I know is made by your type
@@Grier-we3cn Lmao zero arguments. Go on then, go develop your game instead of wasting time getting triggered by others living their lives.

Although i'm not a feminist, this is a really interesting take on silent hill antagonists! And really interesting chanel i must say.
I'm more interested what made you cut it off and started taking female hormones.
please stop
muse is a trans man
you can't even be weird and accurate, ffs
Gah damn this comment is creepy
The LGBT community is destroying gaming sadly we won't have another great silent Hill without it being woke which is truly heartbreaking
bro calm down you can still play your games just cause other people also wanna enjoy them doesnt mean we're taking them from you
@@thegamingmuse actually it does ruin them... Look at how the LGBT community is trying to ruin one piece on Netflix.. if we put a couple openly anti-trans jokes in they would throw such a fit they would insist on changing the game or movie just to fit their one narrative
@@Grier-we3cn You were just talking about games a second ago. That One Piece live action nonsense is Hollywood greed. And as trans person myself, it's not like we're the ones producing this shii lmao, I wouldn't give af if there were anti-trans jokes in media because I'm living my life. It's not like the LGBTBBQ sandwich is creeping under your bed at night, you don't have to be so soft about the media you consume
Christophe Gans change Harry to a Woman because it makes more sense thematically. A mother's love.. for her child resonates moreso with American Audiences.. Let's just be real there's alot single parents in America.. and thier predominantly women.. the father is absent.. Statically speaking..
Islam is still going on, and you keep on bashing american and japanese men? Shame on you.
What an incredibly unhinged comment.
@@thegamingmuse do you know the women's role/rights in islam?
Do you know that every single culture and religion the world over has been used/misused against its own people by those in power, and that is not in fact unique to Islam? And that you can critique Christianity while realizing other cultures may currently be dealing with larger problems? Signed, a Religions & Ethics scholar
@@thegamingmuse please answer my question miss. Do you know whats happening since 1400 years? The age of a'isha? Hijab and nikab? Terrosism all around the world? Shari'a? The Qur'an verse that says "K.I.L.L. all the non believers?
If you even stand 1 millimetre for feminism, please answer. And if you don't know, research and answer then.

@@gilah718 I know all about the roles of women in Islam and about all that stuff they did. Here's my answer: NOT OUR PROBLEM.
The fact that there are American men that are currently pushing for Islamic principles and ideals to be part of American culture automatically invalidates your critique. Should we not bash these men by your own logic?
Also, a hit dog's a howler. If something about this video triggered you, it must have hit a nerve somewhere lol
Given Gans’s comments on fatherly love, I guess we should take solace in the fact that he doesn’t seem to have any kids of his own. 🫠🫠🫠
Genders are not relative; the masculine and the feminine do NOT have the same meaning, in the male and in the female; Vincent is a spineless narcissist, because his masculine is weak, and that's where he should improve; the emotions in the male must not be expressed as in the female, otherwise he is not a male, but an inferior male; emotions are not everything; the truth of things is not reached only with emotions, but also by doing the right thing, which does not concern people's feelings, but instead the truth.
