    This advice is really helpful because it's literally everything I wish I had done my junior and sophmore year. I'm going into my senior year. I realized by the end of junior year, I had met many friends during the last month of school who I never talked to, and I had so much fun. It just killed me to realize they were all seniors. They motivated me to keep going and got me a 4 on the AP Chem exam. I also went through a 2 year relationsghip break up during this year, and it for a moment almost stopped me from doing well in my classes, but I stayed strong and found things I liked to do such as playing basketball afterschool with my friends and going to the gym. I just think that you need these kinds of things to prevent you from breaking down, especially if you're going down a route that is difficult, whether it's because of family or extracirriculars, whatnot.
    Another thing is to make sure you have fun in your summer. Don't sit around like me playing video games. I spent most of my summers between each year playing games, but it wasnt till junior year that I started to be more productive like playing guitar, working out at LA fitness, or even pre-studying for an AP Class!!!! Do something! Be with friends! Talk to people. People in high school don't care even if you think they do. You will also have so much fun once you realize you have things to do to keep your self busy. Keep yourself busy with things you might like to do while you're also busy with the hard things.

    Pratik, I had a question about your video where you reacted to Amy’s application where she could not get into Harvard. So I know that there is a space to put awards on your application. However, I want to do biomedical engineering but we do not even have a Science Olympiad team or opportunity for the science fair. It makes me really upset. Do you have any other ideas for what I could do to support my passion for medicine?

    Hey P, rising freshman here, I just wanted to ask you about some opinions you may have for ecs at my school. I am looking to apply to a t20 that looks for leadership in particular as an extensive moral in students, so In a perfect world would mean me doing clubs and sports that involve team effort. I would be open to doing this, however my schedule is conflicting due to the heavy schedule my school recently initiated in making sports a longer activity, taking almost all free time after school that wouldn’t be doing homework or studying. This means that sadly, my schedule won’t allow me to do any clubs. Do you suggest I ask to skip a day or two to attend these clubs, or possibly take an off season from one of my sports to allow me to do these clubs? Thanks.

    • @advikthepianokid4583
      @advikthepianokid4583 Год назад

      I’m not P but I’m a rising freshman too. Do u enjoy playing your sport a lot as in you’d plan on committing to it past high school or is it more like a hobby? If u take it seriously then you might be better off spending a lot of your time on that and possibly apply as a college athlete and if not then do what u said by taking time off from your sport to spend on other etc’s. Hope this helps!

    Hey P,
    I know that this doesn’t have anything to do with the topic of this video, but I was wondering how important AP/IB results are when it comes to Ivy League college applications. For example, is there a major difference between a 4 and 5?

    • @Gordon...Ramsay
      @Gordon...Ramsay Год назад

      Short answer is no.
      Longer answer is that a good score (4 or 5) can be used to show that you excelled in a college level class, but a poor score (1, 2, 3) can be explained by the teacher not teaching the class well and ultimately your grade in that class matters more. You also don't have to send the lower scores and can just withhold them.

    Prateek this channel is helped me understand school and college on a whole new level, but I'm scared that it's too late. I don't want to make any excuses, but really bad and personal stuff happened to me through 7-9th grade, and it had a direct impact on my GPA tanking it down to a 3.7 end of freshman year and I feel like my chances at my dream school of U of M are just gone. I have got some what I think is insane extracurriculars down, and a godly letter of recommendation secured. Can you make a video in general how to rebound?

      dawg 3.7 is not bad by any stretch, like at ALL, especially if you show growth in later years. in fact it might even be beneficial to showing how youve been able to rebound from such traumatic events (which you can outline in the extra space in the common app) if you manage to improve your gpa in the next couple years.

I’m going to do APs but idk if i should be doing IBs too. I’m a sophomore btw. You’re a great inspiration

    • @splavst
      @splavst 7 месяцев назад

      my honest tip as a fellow sophomore taking 3 APs and 1 IB: immerse yourself in the classes. if you view your classes as fun and engaging they become soo much more interesting and this becomes easier with active participation. with this in mind i have a few more suggestions
      - in history and generally literature-based classes, participation is a MUST. for example, i’m taking AP U.S. History with a 95 at the moment, this class in particular though involves a lot of essay writing which is based on analyzing specific topics revolving around historical “big ideas”. ap histories are a lot of memorization, but you can lessen this heavily by understanding specific groups of people and their different motivations.
      - with math classes, participation is not nearly enough. this especially applies in honors/ap/ib math classes, it CAN help a lot, but generally the students with the highest math grades in their classes dont have such high grades because of their active participation-in honors classes, you review the work in class severely less than you need to ace your tests-they have the highest grades because of studying and doing practice problems. this could only apply to me and students from my school, but my math teachers integrate questions that combine separate concepts a lot, so id recommend just reviewing old math concepts you may or may not have forgotten. Khan academy is great for review in my opinion!
      - for science classes, participation matters to an extent. this ALSO could just be me, but it’s rare that you can even confidently participate in advanced science classes solely because of how confusing they are when you first learn a concept. i navigate through these subjects by reviewing with the teacher outside of class for a better grasp of the subject, as well as with khan academy’s AP course subjects.
      honestly if you find yourself having difficulty in any subject, i can’t tell you how much id recommend khan academy to help you, genuinely such a life saver lmfao its saving me through AP bio because i don’t have the best teacher rn 💀💀
