      @landenferringer977 You would have to read the manual with the amplifier you want to use, see what it's rated for. If it's a car amp I doubt it's a good idea. Cars don't really produce voltages much above 14 volts.

      @@NickPangburn quick question do you think you could plug in a 2000watt amp into a house outlet im thinking about doing that with an 18 inch skar I need to know if its possible to get 2k watts out of an outlet

    • @NickPangburn
      @NickPangburn  4 года назад +1

      @@infodisco4097 It depends. Most U.S. outlets are 120v ac @ 60hz, but I would buy a multimeter to test it to make sure. It could otherwise be 110v ac @ 50hz or 220/240v ac which is uncommon except for specifically the outlet for washers and dryer's. The next step would be to check which breaker in your breaker box the outlet is on. You also need to know what other devices are running on the same breaker. As far as I know breakers are usually between 15a, 20a, or 40a ("a" meaning Amperage, or amps). So wattage is (volts(v) x amps(a) = wattage(w)). So a normal outlet is 120v x 20a = 2400w. BUT WAIT! One big issue here is amps run on DC, or direct current vs what your outlet supplies, AC or Alternating current, which is why I listed the frequencies 50hz/60hz. You have to convert between the 2 to make everything work. To go from AC to DC you need a full bridge rectifier. I would not recommend building one at home. Instead to get around doing that I think most people buy computer power supplies, which will provide about 600 watts of output with a good power supply unit. The subwoofers I have in my car are 800 watts continuous DC, and they're very much enough for the car, they can shake my house from the basement on a low setting. Honestly I would either buy a computer power supply and watch a tutorial on which wires to use, or buy a wall outlet powered amp. If you want to use the full 2000 watts, you will need 1 or 2 12v DEEP CYCLE flooded lead acid batteries. Then for those you need to buy a wall outlet powered battery tender/charger. It will allow you to run the subwoofers for at least a couple hours before having to charge them again. There is so much I could talk about but I recommend just looking for videos more specific to your needs. The cable I have in the video I stole from one of those calculators that print receipts. If I remember right it only provides 5 watts of power.

    Hey here's a better test for you: wire the two prongs of an extension cord to the two terminals on your speaker. The wall outlet will give you a solid 60 hz. signal to your speaker. Just plug the speaker into the wall with the extension cord and enjoy.

    Nice . I need a little help plz. I've got a car amplifier and want to install it in the house with a inverter with about 50 a . but not sure whether it has to be the same wattage as the amplifier. Or can be any wattage 500-1000 maybe .my amp is a 4500.1 1000 RMS . what must be the wattage of the inverter

    • @NickPangburn
      @NickPangburn  5 лет назад +3

      Well there is one major issue with what you want to do. An inverter converts Direct Current (DC) into Alternating Current (AC). Your house provides AC through every outlet, and a car battery where the car amp is intended to be used provides DC. To go from AC to DC you need a full-bridge rectifier. And a car amp needs between 12 and 17 volts, Volts multiplied by amperage gives you wattage. I think your best bet would be to buy a computer power supply that will convert AC to DC, you use specific wires which you will have to look up a video for, and maybe buy a car amp capacitor to throw between the 2 so it doesnt struggle for power. Your other option is to buy an amplifier that is intended to be used inside a house, they make some pretty powerful home amplifiers. The last option is to buy some deep cycle lead acid batteries, and when they're not in use put them on a trickle charger. Just be careful with that because they will give off hydrogen gas which is combustible if there is enough present. And by the way as long as you're within the wattage range you do not have to provide the full amount of power to reach maximum wattage with that amp. 1000w+ RMS is way more than what's needed in a household. My car is running 800 watts rms and it is damaging certain parts in my car which is certainly not something you want to do to your house. If you have anymore questions lmk I can provide links or give advice on whatever

    • @NickPangburn
      @NickPangburn  6 лет назад +3

      The remote wire to turn on the amp can be very very short and a low gauge, all you have to do is run a small wire from the positive input on the amp to the remote wire connection. To turn it off all you have to do is take the wire out.

    • @thicc_daddy_chris8768
      @thicc_daddy_chris8768 6 лет назад +1

      alright, I tried that but i think i might actually need a 12v because my amp wont turn on with only a 9v

    • @NickPangburn
      @NickPangburn  6 лет назад +1

      @@thicc_daddy_chris8768 Are you using batteries or a plug? Also, what amperage is it capable of outputting? If it's a 9v battery you will need more than one. Also, if you are using batteries DO NOT hook them up in series, that increases voltage. Hooking them up in parallel will increase amperage which will allow your amp to output more power to your sub/speaker.

    • @thicc_daddy_chris8768

    • @NickPangburn
      @NickPangburn  6 лет назад

      Probably, 500mAh is virtually nothing. I recommend buying a deep cycle 12v battery for a car/boat/etc. All deep cycle means is that it can be fully discharged and recharged many times. A regular car battery is not meant to be discharged significantly and can destroy the battery in just a couple of cycles
