Hugh Beaumont. Great T.V. Dad on L.I.T.B. Watching the show just takes me away from the kind of world we live in today, if only for awhile. If we had more Dads like him in this day and age there wouldn't be so many unruly kids.
    Rest in Peace, Hugh.🙏🙏

All I knew about Hugh was that he was a preacher. Retiring to a tropical island is cool and not something Ward would do.

I think people really want wholesome TV--even those who say they don't. After a while of watching slimy (I don't mean to be too harsh here; slimy is a metaphor) shows, one begins to feel slimy too. I think this is human nature. Then, people make a choice: continue to spiral down into sliminess or choose wholesomeness. I think the success of ME TV and Great American TV/Pure Flix is evidence of this desire. And, by the way, I'm praying for you too.

But don't you have to live the wholesomeness first to know if you are spiraling down into the sliminess? Too many people nowadays are born into the sliminess and have never felt the wholesomeness.

@@Edmond951 There is certainly some truth in what you say. But I think (obviously, I'm just giving an opinion and have no research here) that for many people who may not have grown up in a wholesome atmosphere, at some level there is an unhappiness that reveals a deep-seated desire for that which is noble. At some point, though, you are right, and people become psychopaths or sociopaths. I do appreciate your comment.

He was very good on the show. If not for the stroke, would he have retired to preaching more? Jerry Mathers wrote in his autobiography that Hugh Beaumont struggled with Tourette's. One symptom is involuntarily using profanity. That must have been hard for a former minister. The reunion would have been very different with him. It's too bad he wasn't around at the time. What if one had happened when he was still alive? His health may have still prevented him from participating.
