- For this video I am going to be unboxing and reviewing the 4K picture for my latest 4K Blu-ray Steelbook pickup for The Fugitive. Of course I will be showing 4K comparisons aswell.

So glad to hear you confirm the quality, i've also preordered this at least a month ago and can't wait get it in upcoming weeks. Love Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Johnes in almost everything and haven't seen The Fugitive in while so it should be a very good rewatch from what i hear from you.
I can only imagine what this is going to be like for you when you get it through the door especially it been a while since you've seen The Fugitive. I stand by what I said in the video it actually looks like it was shot today that's how impressive the 4K transfer is on this one. Definitely in contention for one of the best 4K transfers this year. Great video Keith. I got the slip cover edition because I preferred the artwork on that version. I watched it Monday night and I am not kidding, I was sat there saying "WOW" several times. I agree that this is a superb film and this 4k blu ray is an absolute stunner. This is my 4k of the year. Take care both of you. Gary.
I was meant to put it in the video where I held up my 4K Sleepy Hollow edition and say you are no longer the best 4K transfer this year. I never knew The Fugitive could look as good as it does on this release. It is going to take something very special to outdo this one. Having said that Oppenheimer is coming up

Do not think about it my friend pull the trigger on this release and thank me later. You will not believe how good it looks on 4K until you see it on your own setup. Hands down one of the best 4K transfers I've seen this year

Great review Keith. A great 90s thriller and was pleasantly surprised that it was released on 4k. Very happy to hear that the transfer is a good'n. Might opt for the steelbook as I'm not to crazy on the regular artwork.
I have to admit David the Steelbook is starting to grow on me. Somebody mentioned it in the comment section tonight but it reminds you of a cover of a Hitchcock movie. It is such a wonderful movie. Definitely up there as one of my favorite Harrison Ford movies.
I can tell that you're right about this because you can actually see a massive difference between the stills, and usually they just look darker!
The reason why I put up the comparisons is to show a difference in color but when you start seeing a sizable difference with them it will give you an indication of how great this transfer looks on this release. 4ks are always naturally darker over blu rays. That's what HDR does unfortunately. Definitely one of the best 4K transfers I've seen this year.
@@millerman9991 yeah, they look very organic live, but the darkness is the fundamental thing I notice on the online stills.
I would love to do those stills professionally someday in the future. Capture them directly off the disc. Hopefully someday

No I completely understand what you are saying. But I would love to do it professionally sometime in the future. I say it's a lot of fun putting it together and probably a hell of a lot easier than the way I do it

Wow Darren this is something you need to check out. The movie is absolutely phenomenal and like I said in the video one of my favourite Harrison Ford films. The 4K transfer is definitely one of the best I've seen this year. I really do hope you give it a go
@@millerman9991 I love it when the 4K transfer looks natural.... breathes new life into the movie. Even on the screenshot you posted the difference looked huge. This will definitely be our chased at some point in the near future... I've just been going a bit mad buying 4k's recently 😊
Trust me Darren when you start seeing differences on my comparisons even though they are captured directly from my TV you know you're in for something quite special. The difference over the Blu-ray is frightening. Give it a go and see for yourself my friend

Hey Keith, I picked up the fugitive yesterday and watched it last night. I thought it looked incredible. Definitely up there in transfers. if someone were to say it was the best transfer of the year I really couldn’t argue with him. I don’t know if I’d say that but maybe.
As far as the steel book here in the states, it was a Best Buy exclusive, and they have been sold out for the past couple weeks on release day it came available and I was able to get one and I’m so glad I did because I didn’t care for the standard version Much and I really like this steel book. The main reason is the image Harkins back to the original TV show. Which makes it that much cooler I’m actually watching the original series I am about halfway through season three of a four season run. Of course I was not around when it originally aired and I’ve never watched it in reruns. I caught an episode here or there over the years, but I’ve always wanted to watch it And let me tell you I think it’s a fantastic show. I know it’s very highly rated in general but I’ve look forward to it every week, they air an episode every Sunday night and at 30 episodes a season it takes about three years almost to watch it.
Fun fact in the TV show Tommy Lee Jones’s character is not a US Marshal he’s a highly regarded police Lieutenant and his wife is played Barbara rush, the beautiful brunette in, it came from Outer space and the lieutenants son is played by a very young Kirk Russell😅 lots of very famous guest stars appear in the show over the years, too many to list, but part of the fun of watching the show is seeing who shows up in it. have a great one! and always looking forward to the next video john.
Hey John. Great to hear that you manage to pick up one for yourself and in terms of its 4K transfer I think it's definitely in contention to be one of the best 4K transfers this year. I never thought the movie could look as good as it does on this release and the Dolby Atmos also Kicks new life into this release. Now in terms of the artwork on the Steelbook I have to admit it is slowly starting to grow on me and I never realized it was a nod to the original TV series. Somebody in the comment section also mentioned how the artwork looked very similar to Alfred Hitchcocks movies. After I started thinking about it I started seeing the Steelbook in a all new light. I never seen a single episode for the TV series. I really need to look into it because I've heard great things about it. Great to hear that HMV are still opening stores around London and they actually opened over here in Ireland a couple of months ago but unfortunately they don't sell any physical Media. Hey Joe. Somebody said this in the comments section tonight but doesn't the Steelbook remind you of an Alfred Hitchcock cover. As soon as I read that I started feeling better towards the Steelbook. But it is by no means the best looking Steelbook I have seen this year. To be honest I don't think it would even break my top 20. But thank you so much for the incredible feedback when it comes to my comparisons. Sometimes I question whether they do anything but in this case you can clearly see a difference in quality. @@millerman9991 Yeah I can definitely see a Hitchcock influence in the design. Has a bit of a Vertigo and Frenzy style to it. Pretty cool.

I just picked up my steelbook tonight and I like understated artwork. I went for an import exorcist to get classic cover art. Each to their own🍻
I have to admit Mark the Steelbook is really growing on Me. I never realized it was a nod to the original TV series. By no means the worst Steelbook I have ever seen. I've just seen better. Great to hear that you picked it up

Hey Danny. I'm a huge fan of US Marshals myself. I would love to see it get a 4K transfer. I remember years ago when I got a pirate of Double Jeopardy they actually advertised it as The Fugitive 3 😆🤣. Does feel very similar aswell

The Blu-ray look absolutely terrible. You will not believe how Good the 4K transfer looks on this. Definitely contender for one of the best 4K transfers of the year
The precinct into getts me everytime. I got this steel and the 15 label is removable for 25 quid it's a great deal.
I'm always saying it but it's one of my favorite John Carpenter themes. Still gets me to this day

I ended up buying three items for you. Today I've received the first package. However, this was in fact the second item I've bought for you. This item was in customs for just two days. However, the first item that was sent to me has been in customs for ten days now.
So, there we go again. Always the same drama with your packages, the postal service and customs. The problems already start before I've even sent the package your way.
Well, at least I've already received one of three items. Let's hope the other items are going to show up as well.

It’s one of these films that I really enjoyed on release and has kind of been forgotten about, in my opinion, over the years, despite it being a great film.
The genre is definitely forgotten. You never see movies like this being made nowadays which is an absolute shame. Great to see Warner Brothers kick new life into this movie with this astonishing 4K transfer. Thank you so much for checking it out
Great review as always Keith! Fantastic film does not lose its appeal and suspense. Loved the transfer a little disappointed on the fantastic Atmos with the train wreak, which was a great demo scene for my laser disc 🤭 I stayed away from the steel book, this film has great replay value it is that good. BTW Oppenheimer has sold out at Best Buy and Amazon today. Thanks my friend 🇺🇸✌️🇮🇪
Hey Michael. Honestly I think it's one of the best 4K transfers I've seen this year and that's saying a lot when you consider some of the amazing 4K releases that have come out during the year. The Dolby Atmos is by no means a game changer but it's very welcome. Unfortunately 4 myself I will not have the Oppenheimer Steelbook until sometime next week. I'm always last to these releases. Yeah the Steelbook was very underwhelming no question about it but I have seen a hell of a lot worse. I don't regret getting it especially when you see that 4K transfer. This is an excellent movie Keith, with a great cast. Outside of Indiana and Star Wars it’s definitely one of Harrison’s best movies. I quite like the look of the steel book, it’s simple. I haven’t seen this one for a few years, I’m going to have to revisit it again over Christmas. Thanks Keith.

Great review, thanks👍. I will get this movie on 4K, but not as a steelbook. You’re right, director Andrew Davis made some entertaining and technically solid action thrillers back in the 1980ies and 90ies. He was responsible for the best Chuck Norris movie (Code of Silence), the best Steven Seagal movie (Under Siege) and the underrated The Package (Gene Hackman, Tommy Lee Jones). The Fugitive is his best IMHO.
I was only just talking to another person about some of the movies that Andrew Davis has directed. Court of Silence is my favorite Chuck Norris movie and under Siege is definitely my favorite Seagal movie. I still haven't seen the package which is very strange considering the cast. Definitely one of my favourite films Keith but having waited so long for a Steelbook release can’t help feel disappointed in the artwork like you say, and if you look at Harrison’s shadow on the cover with his arms it doesn’t even match up or is it just me! So lazy and in fate I may get my first custom Steelbook made for the title alone, great update Keith thanks for the closer look
As you can tell by the video I was somewhat disappointed with the steelbook myself. Having said that it was brought to my attention that apparently the Steelbook is a nod to the original TV series and as soon as I heard that I started feeling better about the Steelbook. Just start looking at it that way and see how you feel about it

Normally I would say if you're happy with the Blu-ray Stuart stick with it but if you like this movie in any sort of way trust me when I say this you need to buy this on 4k. It is hands down one of the best 4K transfers I've seen this year.

The image quality looks magnificent. It's been a long time since I last saw it, but I would always watch it anytime it was shown on TV. I agree the case artwork does look lazy, but if I were to appreciate the minimalistic art, it does have a cool Film Noir look similar to the Dick Tracy Blu-ray.

I love the fugitive keith...Andrew Davis is a good director...above the law and under siege are my favourites as well...2 films you need to check out keith...code of silence starring Chuck norris and the package starring gene hackman both directed by Andrew davis!
I have seen code of silence and I really enjoyed that. Probably one of my favorite Chuck Norris movies as a matter of fact. Now I haven't seen the package. I will definitely check that one out. Anything to do with Gene Hackman and I'm there. A huge thank you Steven for the recommendations
Fantastic film and i had heard how great the 4K is on this one, I know the UK Blu-ray had a lot of complaints about it with people saying its just like a dvd upscale at the time, I imported the U.S Blu which was i think a 4K remaster, i could be wrong but its boxed up so can't check, I will be getting rid of that one though lol.
It looks absolutely spectacular. Yeah the Blu-ray looked incredibly poor. I was never a fan of it and it's great to see The Fugitive finely get the transfer it desperately deserves. Thank you as always Mark for taking the time to stop by

I'd rate it about a 6/10 just above average, I've seen worse. Its good to know that the transfer is excellent from those stills and it has atmos. Looking forward to rewatching it after a long time.

Amazon have screwed me over. Pre ordered this weeks ago, but the order is somehow delayed until next month now. Wouldn’t surprise me if they just cancel it like what happened to you recently. The steel book looks like a Hitchcock film! I only got it because I thought you can’t go wrong for an extra £5, maybe I was wrong 😂
I don't know what is going on with Amazon at the moment but they are pissing a lot of people off. I have gone through quite a bit in the last few weeks. It's funny you said Hitchcock because I started seeing it that way after I Shot the video and it made me feel somewhat happy that I picked it up in the end. See for yourself when you do get it.

I have to admit Martin I thought the artwork on the standard release was quite poor and that's why I opted for the Steelbook. But in the end it's all about the transfer and it looks absolutely spectacular
