I played it in 2011 for the first time and I had a feeling back then that it was the best game I had ever played. Even now I must say it's my personal top 5 ever
My first playthrough of it was on hard, then I learned u can't change the difficulty mid game I thought about eating a bullet several times but still beat it
2004 and 2005 were absolutely game-changing years for gaming industry (no pun intended). Before that, games were getting better, but they were still very poor graphically, and they were very linear because they weren't big or developed enough to allow anything else. But those two years turned out to be beginning of the modern gaming.
So Crytek made a sci-fi shooter as far cry 1 but ubisoft made it into a more grounded series so then Crytek took these elements and turned them up to 11 made the masterpiece called crysis. Funny how things work out 🙂
Far Cry1 (much better than far cry 2) Is great in 2024 just replayed it on a system that can handle it at 500fps. Back then it would bring the hardware to its knees at 30-50fps. Still holds up well, graphics good enough the AI is fine. Would not hesitate to buy it in 2024. A classic along with Half life 1 2. Fear series etc Just because a game is older does not mean its not great. Or Serious sam classics:Revolution is fantastic too.
Wow, I remeber when I played this back in 2004... It was THE game. Sure, the saturation makes some sections look more cartoony than they should, but the landscape was massive and really impressive for the time.

It's a good game on PC if you mod out the bugs,I think it's a lot of fun. However on console the "far cry classic" version is horrible. I played it recently on PS3 and it crashes constantly.
I’m not really sure if you even need mods I played the whole thing without any and it was fine. I only had one mission ending bug that I had to restart for but other than that it was good. And thank you for clarifying about the console version that’s too bad.
You can use some bushes to make yourself invisible even while shooting loud weapons, that's how you beat it on realistic, otherwise is impossible. I absolutely love this game, is in my top 10 easily.
"My first childhood game!" Ha! My first childhood game was Pong. It was released in the early 1970s when I was in high school. I still have my Atari 2600 console. Doom 3D was my introduction to PC gaming in about 1994. Been hooked on FPS ever since (Hexen, Unreal, Tribes, Quake, Prey, Halo, Half-Life 1 & 2). Favorite game of all time was Descent (I & II). I love and hate this game at the same time. It's brutally unfair compared to more moders shooters, but the environments are pretty revolutonary for the time. I hate the lack of checkpoints in some levels, you carefully fight your way through an area for a half an hour saying "Where TF is a checkpoint?", then suddenly someone appears on top of you and dead. The enemies can detect you a mile away while you're sneaking, and are dead-eye's with their shots.
I loved far cry 1 back in the day. I was hyped to see where they take this epic story. Then since far cry 2 its been sh$t bricks. I havent bought far cry 3 or beyond. Really wish they would continue the far cry 1 story instead of meme town.
Good video however a bit of misinformation regarding the history of Far Cry Instincts series, Instincts, Evolution, and Vengeance were all made by Ubisoft Montreal with Crytek overlooking development, Crytek gave the IP to Ubisoft in 2006 so they really had no association with Evolution or Vengeance.
I love all of your Far Cry videos. Would love to see you cover Far Cry Instincts, Evolution and the terrible Far Cry Vengeance. Would also love to see a Far Cry ranking video. You can never get too much Far Cry. Take care my dude!👍🏻
I remember never completing this game because it was difficult and since my dad already played it during his time he told me its extremely difficult for kids. But now i am grown up i recently downloaded this and have to say everything feels different from all modern titles. Everything has a serious tone and yes its hella difficult.
I played Farcry 1 on the console and for me it was odd because the aiming wasn’t the left trigger it was the right stick and the left trigger was the grenade button. Which made it kinda difficult to play yet I really liked the challenge and some lines from Jack were super funny. Although the last level sucked because it’s so difficult that the only way I got through it was by running by every enemy and hoping I would make it.
Great video but you got some of the origins wrong. Crytek made it to test their new CryEngine and then Ubisoft bought it from them where they remade the story a couple times shifting it to consoles. Ubisoft made the instincts series and vengeance before making far cry 2.
This game is unbearable and annoying. Yeah I also played this back in the day and while ago but yeah...sorry buddy this game doesn't hold up well. This game was hell of a fun! Same spirit as Unreal Tournament 2004 and Tomb Raider Legend, very fun. Not like modern games which try to be as realistic as possible or hog you down with depressing atmosphere. Even Half Life 2 had that issue, probably the best game of that time quality-wise but it wasn't fun enough to re-play, it felt heavyweight.
the only thing i hate about farcry, is that there's no secuel the reason theres more farcry games, it was because of the name i read some years ago that there was no way this game could get a secuel, and still to this day i havent seen one, theres no jack carver in farcry 2 through 6 thats why this game is called farcry, not farcry 1
read about when they re-released Far Cry 1 on console as "Far Cry Classic", a PC game from 2004 and it still had like double the memory requirements on LOWEST SETTINGS than 360 or PS3 leading to lots of draw distance reduction, smaller textures, they had to REMOVE ALL PHYSICS from the environment items you come across (barrels, boxes, etc)
I tried replaying this last year. I couldn't stand it. But i loved it back in 2004. Playing it now I kept getting shot at by the NPCs before I could even see them. I don't remember this being an issue before
@@IskenderCaglarM41B441 its not unfair. The games these days are too lenient. If you truly wanna challenge your reflexes and FPS skills, play Doom Eternal at Nightmare difficulty. That is the benchmark. Then you'll see that Far Cry 1 at its hardest will feel quite reasonable.

But now that I really think about it, that is how the boss fights work in games like 'Resident Evil', so I shouldn't really be that surprised by it.
So weak spots do actually make sense, but it's still confusing to wrap my head around with the whole realism aspect of it.

Oh wow did not know far cry 1 had monsters in it. I assumed the entire series was just vs humans.
the stealth is hard because Jack literally wears a bright red tropical t-shirt, even Doil mentions this in the begging of the game
"hey you! in the shirt!"
I am a subscriber since 40k and I really admire your videos on games
This was my childhood. It was beautiful
You should do the first 3 splinter cell games man. Nice work on the video.
Thanks for the review!
"Sequel-spinoffs" is NOT what those are.
They're basically remakes. Same concept/plot outline but different.
They are NOT sequels.
FİRST GAME CRYTEK MADE THE CRYENGİNE OTHERS 2 3 4.5 6 DUNİA ENGİNE FROM UBİSOFT...
I love your videos! Why not do the predecessor of AC games Prince of Persia?
indeed, 2008’s atmosphere and soundtrack were amazing!
"Jurassic park vibes" yes exactly the same vibe a b movie JP game. I would play it. Put some trespasser elements in there too.
To me Far Cry on Console was really tough especially with the controls. I am going to try it on PC since I have been gaming on pc for a few years now.
The lab sections and the horror sectoins reminds my a lot of doom 3
I love this Game it sadly never gets any love
Which is odd because Far Cry 5 and 6 are horrible and get so much love

Great review, but u coulda mentioned the amazing sandbox editor.
I loved far cry 1 back in the day. I was hyped to see where they take this epic story. Then since far cry 2 its been sh$t bricks. I havent bought far cry 3 or beyond. Really wish they would continue the far cry 1 story instead of meme town.
Yea i liked the part were it took a hole trigen infection/virus area of a story rather then what se have now
@@andreix4025 its much more engaging in my opinion.
@@geronimo5537 i agree with your opinion
Good video however a bit of misinformation regarding the history of Far Cry Instincts series, Instincts, Evolution, and Vengeance were all made by Ubisoft Montreal with Crytek overlooking development, Crytek gave the IP to Ubisoft in 2006 so they really had no association with Evolution or Vengeance.
I was thinking about whether I should play this game just yesterday and today you are here with the answer. Love your work btw!
It's your choice but I really don't recommend it. If you really wanna play do it on easy difficulty but I must warn you, it's still annoying.
yes you should. a bit hard , but a nice game.

I love all of your Far Cry videos. Would love to see you cover Far Cry Instincts, Evolution and the terrible Far Cry Vengeance. Would also love to see a Far Cry ranking video. You can never get too much Far Cry. Take care my dude!👍🏻
Sounds like a lot of work, maybe you can create some Videos Sir?
I have played all of them but this is my best one
I remember never completing this game because it was difficult and since my dad already played it during his time he told me its extremely difficult for kids. But now i am grown up i recently downloaded this and have to say everything feels different from all modern titles.
Everything has a serious tone and yes its hella difficult.
The story of far cry is like a 90's sci-fi b movie and i love it
Loving the series boiii...Keep it up UwU
The graphics even now are insane. They look better than farcry 2.
I played this game when I was 16 years old.If I get a chance to play this once again I will definitely give it a go.This game is a masterpiece.
"You don't have to aim down sights so it's like CS:GO."
......or literally any classic shooter or like any non-tactical shooter.
At this point the first 2 games aren’t even canon according to Ubisoft
They barely get a mention
Great video but you got some of the origins wrong. Crytek made it to test their new CryEngine and then Ubisoft bought it from them where they remade the story a couple times shifting it to consoles. Ubisoft made the instincts series and vengeance before making far cry 2.
Things we played in our days
Kids now want easy open world-Fps shooters nowadays
This game is unbearable and annoying. Yeah I also played this back in the day and while ago but yeah...sorry buddy this game doesn't hold up well. This game has unfair challenge and puts you in ridiculous positions and expect you to escape. It makes you pull your hair out and punch the wall. Bullet spongy enemies, wall hacking, ai that sees you really far away, trigens.

Crytek did not develop any other Far Cry besides the original. Far Cry Instincts, Evolution and Vengeance were developed by Ubisoft.
I fell in love with this game because of the water. The Palm trees and the excellent way. It ran considering it's time and I like the story.
It's an evil scientist, creating things on an island and he pretends to be your friend. But he's actually your enemy and you're a spy that gets knocked the f*** out. And wakes up on this island in the sewers.😊😊😊😅😅😮😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
I remember as a kid I stopped playing this game once the monsters showed up. Scared the s outta me.
FYI... CRYTEK and Ubisoft parted ways after the completion of Far Cry 1, the rest of the series was DEVED by Ubisoft Montreal.
I never cared for far cry 1, for me far cry 2 feels like the real first game in the series
Just a few months a go , the developer confirm that the protagonist of far cry 1 , is in far cry 2.
Hello master assassin, please make video about "Homefront the revolution".
I love the way you rate games! Can you do a Days Gone review?
Why do you sound so much like Danny Gonzalez in this video? Lmao
Hey @MasterAssassin I don’t have too good of a pc but since it’s and older game and doesn’t have too good of graphics you think most computers should be able to run it?
Have you ever done videos on the just cause games?I think you’d make good reviews for them.
Awesome review, I loved this game back in the day. It would be really interesing to see what your thoughts are on the 360 release of Far Cry: Instincts Predator. Fair play if it's hard to come by but it would be great to see what you think of it in relation to the early Far Cry games.
He says that this is the only one that you can do leaning with in Far Cry 3 you can do leaning
When I first saw Far Cry I legitimately thought graphics couldn't get any better.
Apparently this game is set in 2025 while every other far cry except for new dawn is set in the year that they released.
Primal is not set in 2016 and blood dragon is not set in 2013.
We still playing on multiplayer in fc1. Feel free to join
This game was hell of a fun! Same spirit as Unreal Tournament 2004 and Tomb Raider Legend, very fun. Not like modern games which try to be as realistic as possible or hog you down with depressing atmosphere. Even Half Life 2 had that issue, probably the best game of that time quality-wise but it wasn't fun enough to re-play, it felt heavyweight.
the only thing i hate about farcry, is that there's no secuel
the reason theres more farcry games, it was because of the name
i read some years ago that there was no way this game could get a secuel, and still to this day i havent seen one, theres no jack carver in farcry 2 through 6
thats why this game is called farcry, not farcry 1
don't want to give away spoilers but in FC2 there is some main protagonist of FC1 hidden in the Story...
@@t3hgirhavent played fc2, but i dont think i will lol dont know if it has something to do with the first game

amazing content my man keep it up
Back when games we're made for pc's
read about when they re-released Far Cry 1 on console as "Far Cry Classic", a PC game from 2004 and it still had like double the memory requirements on LOWEST SETTINGS than 360 or PS3 leading to lots of draw distance reduction, smaller textures, they had to REMOVE ALL PHYSICS from the environment items you come across (barrels, boxes, etc)
I tried replaying this last year. I couldn't stand it. But i loved it back in 2004. Playing it now I kept getting shot at by the NPCs before I could even see them. I don't remember this being an issue before
That's a notorious bug and there's a patch to fix it.
1.4.1 unofficial patch
Who remembers when hurk mentions jack carver in far cry 4.
Just beat it on Challenging difficulty. I don't think I'll ever attempt Realistic difficulty; Challenging was plenty brutal.
Unfair...
The word you looking for is unfair.

The best FC, the BEST I mean !
I enjoyed this game much more than Far Cry 2, my only complaint was the difficulty spike, i wouldn't reccommend playing it on normal on your first playththrough because after around half of the game you'll end up being in places where the only way forward is a door and you end up not having a lot of places for cover
