It’s a very peaceful way for any child of Gods to have before the final breAth.
I get so scared of depart from me and I hold on too a very undeniable moment of a spirit coming to be with a elderly lady and her children as she was coming to the end.
I think the whole too felt it
The air was thibk and felt like all our organs were exposed.
I hope and pray that it was true and I really trust that it was.
The scary strong orb or something like that gave a elderly lady in a wheelchair with her children holding her hands.
The things that happened to say
I got you child and you are with the Lord Jesus as her 99yrs was ending.
A full room of drs and yet we were just ants to the air that used us to care for the woman and her children.
Her kids were aged 50yrs 40yrs and around that age.
      Sorry to over share
It’s just a moment of peace feeling and seeing a almighty thing make a safe way out with her children knowing it was a good place.
      Sorry again

The Canticle of Zachariah (his prayer shown juxtaposed with John’s execution in this episode) is a powerful prayer, and part of daily Morning Prayer in religious communities and among the lay faithful. It places us squarely in this pivotal moment of salvation history: our savior promised to the Patriarchs and anticipated by prophets, culminating with John.
You mentioned the lamb, which was beautiful, but the sunrise was just as important:
“In the tender compassion of our God, the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

Eli, I’m one of those rural Chosen fans who’s finally getting to watch Season 4, AND it’s so great to see you pop back up into my YT feed. 💕 I loved S4E1, particularly how they wove JTB’s birth/dedication into the story around the end of his life & mission. The one thing I found puzzling was how they portrayed Salome’s request for the head of JTB as an inaudible whisper rather than a spoken request as scripture records. Herod reluctantly honored her request “because of his dinner guests” & the vocal promise he’d made to her. I thought sticking to the scriptural account would have added more drama to that scene. Thoughts? Hugs from your adopted So Dakota granny.

Hi Eli. Thanks for your great summary! In terms of Zebedee's olive oil business, (Spoiler Alert!) there was that exquisite scene at the end of Episode 4 Season 4 with Jesus reacting to Zebedee crushing the olives, knowing he would soon be crushed on the cross and his blood poured out for us. A glimpse of what was to come and a precursor to the Garden of Gethsemane - also an olive press- where he experienced the crushing weight of the sin about to come onto him- he sweat drops of blood. That scene in the Chosen for me was one of the most moving and powerful so far. Absolutely amazing job done by Jonathan Roumie!

From my perspective, Joanna wasn't at the party because she was already on the way to tell the disciples; She didn't need to stick around to know what happened - she knew John's death was Herodius's intention / inevitable outcome. Even today, the distance between Machaerus and Capernaum is just over 3 hours - which means even with a fast chariot, it would take twice as long or more (and you can't run horses that long - a change or rest would have made the journey far longer)...

When John the Baptizer says he is about to go to a wedding banquet the sentiment behind that line is straight out of John chapter 3 vs 25 to 30. John disciples mention that Jesus and his followers are preaching and baptizing as well... John reminds them that he told them he was sent before Jesus preparing the way... Vs 29, "he that hath the bride is the bridegroom, but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. He must increase, but I must decrease." John is saying he is that rejoicing Friend of the Bridegroom, Jesus, and yes, he too will have his place at the marriage of the Lamb! His mission is fulfilled and he is content, and no one can take that from him... death is not the end for him! I love that detail in The Chosen alluding to Scripture and incorporating it in such creative ways... it shows the writers have a deep understanding of the Gospel story.

I’m a bit confused as the episode begins with the date 4 b.c. when Elizabeth and Mary met, therefore hinting that John is 4 years older than Jesus. But they both were pregnant when they met, 6 months into Elizabeths pregnancy. Why this date? Anyone with a good insight? Luke 1: 26-56 is portrayed almost to the letter..

Scholars don’t believe Jesus was born in Year zero, but around 3bc. You can find videos or articles about it. So, have it be sometime in 4bc, roughly nine months before Jesus was born, they are also saying when they believe Jesus was born and what time of year as it is well known that He was not born on Dec 25.

I thought she left right away when she found out that Herodias was behind JTB's move because she knew what was about to happen and JTB thought the same.
What I didn't get was how Abner got to Jesus (walking) before Joanna got to Andrew. But maybe Abner just had JTB's concerns about what might happen, and then Jesus just knew right away the whole story...being divine and all...

Also the fact that John will technically be at the party (his head) as on the silver platter.. The only draw back in my opinion is the actual dance of Salome... This dance was to entice... to seduce... enough to cause her to get her choice of 'what ever she wants up to 1/2 the kingdom'. The dance that was protrayed was interesting at best... but not merited to accomplish the objective.. In the mini series, Jesus of Nazareth, this certainly was accomplished through their depiction of Salome's dance and the exchange of lust to warrant such a response of "the desired gift'...Still keeping with the modestly for family viewing when you know in reality, it was much more revealing... That is my only complaint on this episode.

A couple of OOPS I have seen so far. The actor playing Jesus is probably in his 40’s not early 30’s. John the Baptist has gray hair, when he is was only about 6-7 months older than Jesus.

    • @AnChloe
      @AnChloe 4 месяца назад +3

Gray hair does not necessarily tell anything about age though.. a good friend of mine went totally grey before becoming 40.. and I think age of the actors is not necessarily an issue, it is their input and personality that counts doesn’t it? I still get confused with the date 4 B.C. though at the first shot of the episode, when John and Jesus were 6/7 months apart in age..

I love the Chosen, but this wasn't one of my favorites. I guess I'm comparing the dance to the one from Jesus Of Nazareth Mini Series. In that one you could see the desire that Herod had for Salome. It was more seductive but not too much for TV. She also loudly calls for John's head so others can hear. Herod can't go back on his word then. The Chosen's version is all about an acrobatic dance..and Herod being forced to drink and then her whispering the request for John's head. It just didn't click for me. I also hated the steak punk mask in the Executioner.

Where in the bible did Jesus put ash on his forehead? Seems like a catholic thing. “And when you fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face that your fasting may not be seen by men but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you” (Matt. 6:16-18).

I loved the scene of john being beheaded where he looked out the window and saw the lamb.. But i think Jesus Reaction to Johns death was wrong.. why.. well Some times the chosen kinda forgets things .. like his first sermon on the mount.. Jesus only spoke what the father told him... well in the chosen he seemed more like a pastor configuring his sermon himself with Matthew.. Jesus didnt Mourn lazareths death ofcourse he knew he was about to be alive again.. but he cried.. i think it was because of the lack of faith in mary and martha let alone his compassion for them and there sadness In the case of John.. i kinda think the chosen brought out his relationship with John as his cousin.. But John in the gospels didnt really seem to know Jesus on sight.. nor did he seem to know Jesus was the messiah before the baptizm.. nor did it seem Jesus spent any time with John after.. Jesus saw things on an eternal bases.. He looked forward to his death because he knew hed be alive again.. most of us would cry our eyes out over dying... But see Jesus knew hed see John again.. That John did what he was supposed to do.. Jesus lived on a plain that was much higher then ours.. and yet ofcourse as The chosen has shown well he was human did human things and even got tired.. but to some extent they missed some things that us todays do not experience.. i think also whenever Jesus Spoke of the father you could see the joy in his eyes as if he was seeing the faither ..not like some of the movies did.. just a big smile and happy eyes.. my opinion

      @@drkarenhanson Nazarene [N] [S]
This epithet (Gr. Nazaraios) is applied to Christ only once ( Matthew 2:23 ). In all other cases the word is rendered "of Nazareth" ( Mark 1:24 ; 10:47 ; 14:67 , etc.). When this Greek designation was at first applied to our Lord, it was meant simply to denote the place of his residence. In course of time the word became a term of reproach. Thus the word "Nazarene" carries with it an allusion to those prophecies which speak of Christ as "despised of men" ( Isaiah 53:3 ). Some, however, think that in this name there is an allusion to the Hebrew netser , which signifies a branch or sprout. It is so applied to the Messiah ( Isaiah 11:1 ), i.e., he whom the prophets called the Netse , the "Branch."
The followers of Christ were called "the sect of Nazarenes" ( Acts 24:5 ). All over Palestine and Syria this name is still given to Christians.
