MYSTERIOUS VOLCANIC CRATER LAKE IN THE PHILIPPINES - BecomingFilipino Leyte Guide

  • I was reminded once again... the Philippines is mysterious and mesmerising!
Welcome to the crater lake of Mt. Cabalian in San Juan, Southern Leyte. This active volcano last erupted in 1820 and stands 3100 feet tall overlooking the Cabalian Bay.
Kumar and I knew nothing about this place and just saw it randomly on google maps. Because it looked so interesting... We talked to locals in San Juan, found a guide, and spent two hours trekking through dense jungle. Upon reaching the crater lake we said...
    “Tabi-Tabi po”.
The green water and surrounding area was both mysterious and mesmerising! I did go for a swim, and shockingly, even though the lake is high up... it wasn’t that cold! Maybe the volcanic environment has something to do with that?!
Yup, Southern Leyte is home to this natural wonder! A mysterious volcanic crater lake in the Philippines!
    AYUS!

ALWAYS REMEMBER IF YOU GO ON THESE KIND OF LOCAL TREKS IN THE PHILIPPINES TO PACK OUT EVERYTHING THAT YOU PACK IN :)
The lake area was very clean, but those two bags of garbage that have been collected over the past months should not be there in the first place. These kind of places are INCREDIBLE. And we can all do our part in helping keep them clean. Taking a few pieces of garbage out with you is even better... SUPER APIR!
    HAVE YOU BEEN HERE!?

I am really crying with this comment. All over the world love Filipinos, Filipinos are really known to be hospitable and very kind but its really alarming that we dont do that to our fellow Filipinos. Not all but certainly a lot of us are, its good to show to all human kind who we are but we always tend to see other nationalities superior to us its God's gift but on the other hand, we dont apply it to our own race.

I love seeing Sea Eagles flying in Opol beach when I was still living in CDO City. Hope you also get to feature a one of a kind Water fall terraces (Kaparkan Waterfalls) in Abra which looks like those fantasy places on Elf kingdom. Just knew about the place when I watched Jessica Soho on GMA TV and would love to see more vlogs featuring that place. The layers of the waterfalls are made of Coral reefs because the mountain used to be underwater hundreds of years ago. It was just recently discovered waterfall and not much tourist yet in the area.

Small advice from me as i grew up in a country side.. don't wear slippers/ flip flops especially if you're trekking at a high volume of vegetation. Centipedes are everywhere now that its rainy season..even the small snakes or baby snakes.. you wouldn't know if one of these will sting/bite you. 😉 happy trekkihg in this season..

Wow❗️breathtaking, the sweeping valleys of the mountains soo beautifully naturally shaped. The shining
bright sky hovering its reflection to the densely greenest forest you can even imagine & then going down
down eh voila it’s Mr J in the middle of the jungle everyone. Abaca fiber that is what we use for making stuff in grade sch. Good joke. Wow wow wow that is like a hidden paradise that a visitors like Kulas & co. can be proud of finding/being in there. Kulas smiles says it all. It’s all worth it. It looks like a giant green eye nature. It’s natures fullest beauty at it’s best. Where they’re come from they’re not there b4? I thought all the way it’s just the 3 of you + the dog ohh that’s a bit scary they just come up. It’s all cool. So brave of you to swim just like that alone in the middle of nowhere. Your moving & kicking like a frog w the drone shot. 🤣 Exactly the right place for a boyzzz day out eating pancit/adobo. That’s a really wild berry ✔️location 🧐 i think Mystic Meg doesn’t want you to live , it keep stopping you , branches keep holding on to you or maybe they probably like your red Canadian top. You’re being stop by the trees twice just like your twice 💩 steps. At the end still Pinoys hospitality at its finest.

Nope. The ring of fire lies east and to the north of Australia. Starting from New Zealand curves towards the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Indonesia, up the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, across to the Aleutians, Alaska, down the west coast of the US, Mexico, central and south America, terminating in Chile.
