This is the best video I've seen after searching for this for 48 minutes. Thank you! Now on to see if I can figure out how to livestream to facebook live!!!
Thanks for the great video. I have connected my iPhone 5S to the camera via WiFi and I can use the remote trigger. If I'm up a mountain and I can't get a WiFi signal, how can you get the iPhone to communicate to the camera? You mention in your video that you use this feature when out on the trail.
Hello I have now sorted this out on my G7X Mk II. I did the following by not having a WiFi connection to the internet such that I can use it out in the field so to speak (this bit confused me but I got there in the end). On your camera after you select you are connecting to a phone and it's searching for a network, select "Switch Network" and then select "Camera Access Point Mode". Make a note of the SSID and the password if you have set one. On the phone, turn on the WiFi and select the SSID associated with the camera and enter the password if it's the first time you connected. On the phone select "Canon Camera Connect" and the camera will connect to the phone. So when you are out in the field you don't need a WiFi connection to the internet, you use the WiFi settings on your phone to connect to the camera (this was the bit that confused me). So on the camera press the WiFi button and select the phone previously set-up. On your phone, turn on your WiFi and select the SSID associated with the camera and then launch Camera Connect - sorted. P.S. On my camera I set my images to RAW, and they are transferred to my iPhone 5c as JPGs
@@markorafferty876 This is very helpful. Two years later, so I am not sure you are still checking. But I only want to use the remote. @@taketothehighwaydotcom3152 What you do is use the Wi-Fi carrier but without an internet connection. Basically think of it as a Bluetooth connection using the Wi-Fi carrier. On your phone, go to the Wi-Fi settings screen and select the SSID for your camera. Note: As you have previously connected to the camera and entered the password, you won’t be asked to enter it again 6. Open the Canon Camera Connect and connect remotely - and that’s it. I hope that helps you as it’s just taken me 2 hours to write that all up, plus go back and check it reads Ok and works OK. It doesn’t explain in the user’s manual from Canon how to connect direct to the camera. On page 146 it explains about “Using Another Access Point” and makes no mention on how to use “Camera Access Point Mode” when there is no Wi-Fi signal nearby.
