I happened to discover Rodriguez during the most extraordinary month of my life, at the age of 69. I discovered a new me, a new love and Rodriguez all at the same time. He has become the soundtrack of my second life.
Without Searching For Sugar Man, I would have never heard of him. My CD collection is so much better because of that movie and Sixto Rodriguez himself.
Oh-My-Gosh!!... you never know who the man is sitting on the street corner or having a hamburger and a beverage at the local bar and grill.... America did not pay much attention to this man so he quietly sold more albums than Elvis in the other countries . But back at Detroit he continued to work a local job living in his Original House... I have only met a few people like that-- they are called real human
Was ! I think he must retire now. Well into his 80's and blind. But certain people exploit him. We were promised a new album 24 years ago; then 14 years ago and then 5 years ago , and nothing has been done. It is good to go back to Rodriguez's two studio album output and 3 Live albums. But now not methink?
I just found out about Rodriguez last night, and I've never really been into folk, but man. Something about Rodriguez is legitimately perfect. I've had his music on all day, went to work listening to him, cooked dinner jamming out to him, and even fell asleep to his tunes. It's actually perfect!
Suffer! Have you got both? Cold Fact AND Coming From Realty? I am not sure one can call his music folk music... I can't find a description that satisfies my mind.
