- In this video, I share all my shenanigans from my 11th sketchbook, including a trip to Washington, DC, a Beatles/beetles spread, a Buster Keaton-inspired house fall stunt, lots of sketches done with art groups, and falling in love with Neocolor IIs as well as some kitties I was cat-sitting. Thanks for watching, and I would love to hear what you think!
I'm Marcy, and I'm filling up sketchbooks with practice, play, and experiments. Please give a like and subscribe to my channel!

Please share any thoughts or questions in the comments. I would love to hear which spread was your favorite or even your least favorite or anything, really. P.S. In my defense on the shuffling, the deck was brand new, he he.
This was such a fun and interactive sketchbook tour! I love all the animations you’ve done - so inspiring and has my brain whirling with ideas 🧐 I’m so happy to hear you’re loving ART HANG PARTY! Drawing sessions are my favourite 🤗💖✨
Thanks so much for watching and commenting, Melissa! You've given me so much inspiration over these last several months. Ooooh, I'm intrigued about those ideas whirling in your brain. Whatever they are, I'm sure they'll be interesting 😍
Another highly entertaining sketchbook tour! You definitely took it to ELEVEN🤘🎸⚡️Your art is always so fun and I adore the way your make every page a playful practice. Love all the cut outs and collages and the interactive bits. I feel like I’m inside a pop up book when I watch your videos. You should be teaching a course on how to make a sketchbook so fun!
Of course I’m partial to the Draw Weird Things sessions😉yours are so good! But if I HAD to pick, and this is hard…being think the I have teeth guy wins my vote for favorite sketch. He was so unexpectedly toothy😂 Also, I never knew the Library of Congress was such a beautiful building. What a cool place to visit!
Thank you so much, Debbie! I have loved getting to know you during the meetups and through each other's videos. You have built such a fun and supportive community. Thanks, too, for the feedback on my sketchbook tour. They are my absolute favorite thing to make (and to watch), and I love putting in all the little bells and whistles. I love toothy guy too. I love anything silly, truth be told. (btw, if you ever might go to the Library of Congress, that beautiful building is the Thomas Jefferson building. The Library of Congress is HUGE with other buildings too.) 😃
@@sketchbookscheming It's easy to see your creative practice is a labor of love and fun! Sounds like the LOC is a trip on it's own! You'd need days to see it all! And I'm so glad to have found you here and that you've been able to join the live draws! It wouldn't be the same without you! ;)
Hello, Marcy! Such an inspiring sketchbook tour! I especially loved your experiments with Neocolor II and collages, and your impressive sketches from Washington. You're so talented in different styles and themes! Keep delighting us with your creativity and interesting stories from your sketchbooks.
Thank you so much, Oksana, for your feedback and kind words! I love bopping around with different media and styles. Sketchbook tours are really fun for me as they are kind of like a journal of my activities and inspirations over the previous three months. You've been a big inspiration during that time! 😃Thanks again.
Spinal Tap!! Haha! I love that sketch of the man at 1:45 - he's got a bit of Serge Gainsbourg to him! The pear and star anise are loooovely! I need to do one of those art hang things - the times have been hard for me though, so far. But I'd love to try that. The Jazza portrait is great - I love that you aren't afraid to use unusual colors. I love the mushrooms! the watercolor birds and fish! So nice! I've seen a lot of these from your previous videos, but it's great to see them again. I really love your ability to try new things and use mixed media and textures and even movement ("He's got teeth!") - It's very inspiring to me. I'm always looking forward to your next video, but I'll ruminate on this one a good while.
Thanks so much for the feedback and support, Brian! I love hearing details about what stuck out to people. Definitely try an Art Hang Party! Such a great group of people -- it's really fun. I sometimes attend live and other times watch the recording. Thanks for your kind comments about trying new things. I really admire that about you! Fire! Crank calls! What??? So much inspiration from you 😃
Wow, this really does go to 11! Love it, love the Bella part 😆
Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I had a blast with this one 😃
Really loved the abstract panels. What a great sketchbook …. I love how you rendered some of the same challenges I attended (Art Hang, Sophie Mc Pike, Odd Orange, Sketchbook Skool etc.) and then the cherry in the top - the animations. Love it
Thank you so much! Attending the various art gatherings gave me so much joy throughout this sketchbook. I'm really glad I jumped into doing that more regularly than I have in the past. I'd love to see yours if you've posted them somewhere! Thanks so much for your kind words.
Hi Marcy, another fantastic sketchbook tour, and I just love how you make your characters come to life with the animation, I wish I knew how to do this 😊..really do love how you fill your speeds and your unique style, well done look forward to the next one :) Johnny b 😊
Thanks so much, Johnny! I have a lot of fun making the silly little animations -- really appreciate your encouragement! I think I'd like to learn the "real" way to do animation as a future endeavor, but for now I just kind of wing it with Photoshop and iMovie. The simple mouth movements are just two slightly different images (adjusted in Photoshop), and then toggled back and forth at about 0.5 seconds each in iMovie. The moving beetle also used two slightly different images, but I relocated them across the background image over and over in Photoshop. And the static images that move across the page are done in iMovie using keyframes and picture in a picture. Hope that makes sense. I'm no expert (!!!), but if you give it a try, let me know if you have any questions. I really appreciate your support, Johnny! Your videos are so inspiring to me as far as how you mix your beautiful art and location footage with your fun personality. 😃
Like 25… Wonderful artwork 😊👍🏻
Thank you!
Such a wonderful sketchbook tour! So much creativity and cool art! Hard to pick a favorite spread… I do love Buster Keaton and the mushrooms spread. 🤩
