Enjoy the new tutorial! Tag photos of your custom tessellation with #ezorigami to be featured in my next video! Can't wait to see what you come up with! :)
Super awesome Evan! Thanks for sharing this delightful treat. Yes, would be fantastic to see how you incorporate more intricate patterns/imagery into the grid. Thanks again for sharing the fun with us!
I'm hooked on tessellations and this one allows some much room for creativity. I would like to get familiar with it. So please makes more videos with complex designs.
An extremely clever system. Well done, Evan. Thank you for the video, as always clear and precise, and for the templates, a real bonus! I will be trying my initials very soon.
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. Definitely give this one a try, it is a simple but rewarding model, and you can customize it to create any design you'd like!
I have been doing origami for many years. I have not ventured into tesselations yet. I see how this would be a great intro into that. Not being an actual tesselation but indeed steps that are used in many. I must have glaced over it to quick. If you do a 32 grid would you not have a 16 x 16 pixel grid to work with? What would be my grid size if i want a 32 x 32 workable pixel grid?
Absolutely amazing model Evan! I never used to fold tesselations but this one's ingenuity has really made me want to fold it. Can't wait. And could i request u make a tutorial for some of your stars you showcased on Instagram. Thanks and stay awesome 😀
Thanks a lot! This design is unlike most origami tessellations, so I definitely recommend giving it a try! You can even try it out on a smaller scale if you don't feel like folding the full 32x32 grid. Are there any particular star designs that you had in mind?
If you fold this model from a 64x64 grid, the pixel art template will have the dimensions of 31x21. Instead of folding 2 excess grid divisions behind (as you do in this video with a 32x32 grid), you will only have to fold a single excess grid division behind. Hope this helps!
I create my templates in Adobe Illustrator, but there are free vector graphic tools (such as Inkscape) with similar capabilities. After a quick search, I found a free online tool called "Pixilart" which allows you to specify a grid size and upload/manipulate images to create pixel art. That might do the trick: www.pixilart.com/draw
Awesome design! Congrats!! But when I tried to access your site to get the templates, I got an error message telling that the site was blocked based on geoip. I'm accessing from Brazil, is this a bug or is your site blocking accesses from Brazil? Thanks!
Thank you! Not sure why you couldn't access my website, that sounds like a bug. In the meantime, I've uploaded the templates to Dropbox as well: www.dropbox.com/s/3o9e7pegfhqwpom/EZ%20Tessellation%20-%20Evan%20Zodl%20%28Templates%29.pdf?dl=0

if you was to use a 64x64 grid what dimensions would the pixel art blocks be instead of 15x10?
