As both Somalia and Ethiopia convulse, the now not so hidden hand of Eritrea's leader has become increasingly apparent as Eritrea very effectively leverages limited resources but deep experience into a disproportionate impact on the entire Horn of Africa. It is not like you say. In 2000-2002 Isaias begged the USA to set up bases in Assab. Right now Isaias government depends on UN and other donors support . Post 2000 the relocation of Eritrean, the reconstruction and the rehabilitation was done with EU and USAID funds. So please stop with this thing of Isaias standing up for Africa etc..... In 2016, a report from Fartaag Consulting, urged the Somali parliament’s security committee to investigate the activities and presence of Bryden’s organization, Sahan, a call that was only acted on after President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo came to power.
“Sahan Research is a clear example of foreign consultants’ abusive power, mismanagement and lack of transparency in Somalia,” said the report dubbed “Breaking Point in Somalia: How state failure was financed and by whom.”
People who know or worked with Bryden paint a picture of a carpetbagger who is devoid of principle and is being debauched by personal and financial interests.
“He can be used against anyone, even against the international community,” said a former staff member of Sahan Research, who described the organization’s toxic working environment in which views critical of the President “Farmajo” were encouraged, while individuals who expressed views perceived to be sympathetic to the government’s were reprimanded or fired.
"Still, Bryden’s Nairobi-based disinformation factory - in fact an army of hundreds of cyber warriors, trolls and staff members, some of them misleadingly calling themselves researchers and analysts - still continues to daily churn out fake news, derogatory caricatures, poppycock passed off as analysis and a torrent of tweets denigrating top officials and policies in Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea."
“Somali activists with genuine interest in the wellbeing of their country simply reject the disinformation machine that Bryden and his trolls want others to believe,” said Sanei, the PhD student in Ohio. “Those Somali activists who monitor the media are not all pro-government people. To say otherwise is to insult Somalis’ intelligence.”

The main evil in Eritrea has been done by Isaias ego and his failure to realise that once TPLF was in power in Ethiopia the relationship changed and TPLF was no longer the junior partner. Isaias had options on how to respond to the situation in 2000 instead he chose to arrest the very people who were offering options that were solely focused on militarisation, enslavement and impoverishment of the country. He also imprisoned, disappeared the people who could have given a report as to the conduct of the war in 2000 and highlight the fact that Isaias interference caused us many lives. Please note that the only reason Assab remained within Eritrea is because Eritrean youth disobeyed his orders to withdraw.
