I don't think that I will be able to catch a Glimpse of this aircraft conducting Trials as after Take-off it will probably fly directly towards Arabian sea and make a turn and Come back, those who live near the beaches on in the Beaches near to the air-base will be able to catch a glimpse of it. Many advantages would be there
1. Commonality across fleet Ease of communication between existing and upcoming air assets like P8I, MH60R or MQ9s
2. US gets on same page with India regarding diplomatic relations with massive defence purchase and future possibilities of getting STOVL jets for planned 4 LHDs
3. IAF gets boost over dwindling squadron numbers with similar platforms
4. STOBAR capabilities of navy jets can come handy with high altitude operations
5. HAL gets breather to prioritise on Tejas MK2 and AMCA projects to deliver them on time
Where are those 4 LHDs? Will they be in service till 2040? There is big question mark on that.
RAFALE M Should be opted as it will be more technology advanced and the future upgrades will be smoother considering the past records of French govt ...also RAFALE M will be nuclear capable so definitely a huge edge ...only con is the non foldable wing 👀....
But there are already many countries lined up for that order. The manufacturing factories are very busy and any new Rafale deal will be completed in 7-8 years

Subs are more important, we are not going offensive on a country which is hundreds of kilometres from here....We need a huge Sub and surface ship fleet. We need to secure the whole Indian Ocean, and make sure, no one can ever dare to come in. 3 ACs are enough. And against the event where China goes for an offensive in INdian Ocean, we have the Nicobar islands.
ACs cost $10-$11B...at that cost we can have 10 subs and 10 frigates!

I agree. We should buy atleast 36 F15ex and fill the rest with Rafale F4. I think there is problem in signing the deal. Since both Boeing and Dassault want all 114 aircrafts to be bought not less.

It would be the best choice for both IN and IAF. Low cost per flying hour, interoperability with other Quad nations. Similar engine as Tejas 2 (GE F414) and short time to deliver the initial batch. Pretty sure the Rafale line is constrained with prior orders. The threat of US sanctions is over exaggerated as long as the Quad is relevant. Finally for nuclear delivery, there are better options with missiles and existing aircraft.
I have a question : how are they simulating head wind on land based facilities ? I mean an aircraft carrier moving in head winds is certainly going to help in take off weight.
They can't .. No one can. That's why carrier based trials are needed. But before that, testing on SBTF has to be cleared. Naval Tejas had conducted dozens of testing on SBTF before her carrier trials on INS Vikramaditya.

We don't have a choice, the maintenance Lift on IAC1 is not broad enough for Rafael. Only LCA or FA18 can fit in it.

if it was true then Navy would never considered Rafale in the first place.
If the French took the trouble of coming all the way to India and doing the flight tests, surely they'd have information whether their aircraft will fit the lifts on the new carrier.

I don't think so America would sanction India *ever*, it would be a blunder. India is currently the largest importer of defence equipment in the world. Also remember that most corporations would face heavy lobbying for Indian side because most of tech workforce in US depends on India.
No guarantee wat america can do....it is democracy...which president takes what stand for/against india is unpredictable
Do not count on that, USA had already sanctioned India twice, any relation with USA follows the USA dictum of " Thou shall obey USA " then only everything else counts.

MiG 29Ks are our best option, and next option is RAFALEs, logistically cheaper, and the cheaper it is, the more we get. Numbers have a quality of their own.

your missing one crucial element here . . . unlike CATOBAR aircraft carriers & CSTOL/VSTOL aircraft carriers, all Russian STOBAR aircraft carriers are based on a 20,000 ton (large displacement) plus guided missile heavy cruiser hull design . . . observe the design lines of the Kiev class aircraft cruisers prior to conversion to STOBAR aircraft carrier or the Chinese Liaoning STOBAR aircraft carrier for that matter . . .

Depends how much trustworthy will U.S be in its support of technology and future not just based on their national interest.
We should focus on TEDBF only.....with 45 Mig 29K and availability rate of even 66% we can have 30 Mig 29K available at any point of time which can be split as 15-15 between Vikramaditya and Vikrant till 2030 by when we can expect TEDBF to enter production

India should try for Rafael M or making a navalised variant of su 30 for the carrier . I don't think trusting the Filthy States would be a good idea.

The Indian navy has made a mess of its carrier program. It Doesn't makes any sense. You cannot replace mig29k with any other operational fighter for INS vikramaditya. Its lift is way too small. Mig 29k has already seen 2 crashes and i don't think navy will buy more plus it has low operational availablity . Vikrant is delayed and ordering any new fighter will takes at least 5 years to deliver all aircrafts, IF they are able to place an order on time. TEDBF is easily a decade away, don't know if 4.5 Gen will make much sense in 2035 . Ins vikrant lift is small for Rafale/F35, yet big enough for F18 and Mig. Plus both are stobar so cannot launch heavier aircraft or even fighters with full payload. No clue about the status of Ins vishal and whats going on with Naval amca.
if this fits our need we shuld go for it . too much relaince on russia is not good. we need to diversify our wepons system. + fighters from the west are generally more capable.

In subject of Uncle Sam sections , it won’t affect because India will discuss how Indian made part and brahmose installation.
People need to understand, Uncle Sam sanctions is not matter for India , it’s weapon package which India wants to integrate with aircraft’s.
Boeing refuses multiple times for Indian weapon integration , if they agree , then we never look at Rafale.
So Rafale is best choice , better is to modify our Vikrant 2 lift to avoid some stupidity from Uncle Sam.
