Great video! I'm sold on getting these whenever we determine my motor mounts are going out. I don't do anything too crazy so I'm happy to learn they have a rubber bushing option since I also like to cruise around town and usually have to drive out on the freeway to get to trails. :)
Just a note: when I replace my motor mounts on the passenger side, I removed my oil filter and put the motor mount thru bolt in the opposite direction. So now if I need to access the motor mount, all I have to do is remove the oil filter, then the motor mount thru bolt comes right off, which is very easy, no need to bother the alternator, or belt adjustment. Another great video. Thanks
@@JeepSolid You never know??? Better to be safe than sorry. What if you out in nowhere and you break down and need to replace the drivers side motor mount or bolts, etc?
Picked up a 2006 Rubicon 2 months ago. It has much need for some overdue maintenance. Motor and transmission mounts are just the start. I went with the Brown Dog and they were pretty simple to get in thanks to your videos. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. I will use one of your affiliate links to buy things this holiday season. Thanks!
Yes you’re absolutely right when I called he answered all my questions,I m ordering my yj motor mount and bracket kit today , and my xj’s next month Thanks for sharing
Put these on my XJ last summer. If you follow the instructions to a T they are so detailed you can’t go wrong. Just go step my step and it’s cake. Made an amazing difference. Wonderful product.
I also have Tim's excellent engine brackets and motor mounts. I have a 2003 TJ and the problems are different and not insignificant. I also did the work by myself, which is crazy, It was not fun, and Tim saved me on the phone about ten times with suggestions and workarounds for a solo installation. On the late TJs the power steering pump is the worst barrier, as you have to jack the block up a few inches to get the bolt out. You cannot just remove the bracket and mount as a unit because there is a huge heat shield on the driver side bracket that, combined with the location of the PS pump makes accessing certain bolts or bosses impossible. Tim and I discussed this and what ended up working was a massive PITA, but I had done it not a year earlier so I knew exactly what to do: I ended up pulling both fenders. That was the best thing. I had rust issues all over the exterior of my block and all the new holes had to have the threads chased out with a tap. No fenders allowed me to reach straight through to each boss (and get around the head shield and PS pump on the driver side) and allowed me to complete the work to a high level. I love these things, too. I added in a new tranny mount. I used rubber for all mounts rather than poly and my butt is happy. (I have used poly in the past and my butt was definitely NOT happy.) Also, do NOT mix poly and rubber as the poly will end up tearing up the rubber, so rubber motor mounts need a rubber tranny mount block, and vice versa. The only bad part was that I tore up my flag decals in everything struggling to do this alone. Oh well, I'll get new ones.
Good job buds. Its crazy, I just did my motor mounts on the YJ today. I decided to go OEM. I was reading how the heavier mounts caused the same or even more vibration. My brakes were in terrible condition. I dont even know how the motor didnt just fall out. The DS was metal on metal. The PS wasn;t even bolted to the frame, and the trans was split completely in half!!
Hi there, I love your channel great job explaining everything without confusing the viewer. Could you please make a video on how to check the heater core and how to replace it. I thank in advance! Leo
What is your experience with bomb proof motor mounts part JM200 for cj7 with GM 4.3 v6? If you like them, could you also recommend a transmission crossmember /skidplate with this swap? Thanks for the video
A day late and a dollar short for me... I already did a 2 degree pinion angle wedge install to align the drive line.... (shrugs shoulders)... Also... I didn't see a kit for a 2.5" / 3" lift...No matter I guess... Since I'm all lined up...guess I could just get the "stock" mount set... Maybe in couple of years tho...cuz I just replaced my mounts less than 6 months ago...lol...
If you do the driver side take the whole bracket out my ac is in the way not alt put the threw bolt in from back to front why put the brackets on lol it all comes down to 2 3/8 bolts hold the engine down lol each side
I wasn't happy with my brown dog mounts. The bushings tore themselves apart within a year. I got a new bushing kit but I swapped oem in for now. Procrastinating on swapping bushings cause I don't want to have to keep replacing them
Hi i need help with my jeep jk unlimited 2015. I put a lift 2.5 fox I never change the motor mounts. But that’s not the problem. I took it to a mechanic mear by and he mees up my jeep big time. I have no more money. Over 11k in upgrading and 3k fixing things I never needed in one year I only have 33k miles. I hear a metal to metal noise when go over bumps. Mechanic change the breaks. But the noise didn’t go completely. Please help me I am about to loose my jeep
I'm getting to where I've changed the rubber bushings out yearly. Moved over to the poly bushings a week ago. If that doesn't last I'll be buying M.O.R.E.'s engine mounts. Those rubber ones just don't hold up.
Nice video guys. Quick favor to ask. Any chance you could measure the long mount through bolt and pass on the details. I’ve lost both my originals, and want to get some grade 8 replacements. I believe it’s a M12x1.75x130. Any chance you can verify? 😬
@jeepsolid all of your affiliate links are broken (as far as I can tell). I'm thinking of picking up the stock height 4.0L mounts for my YJ. Did Brown Dog provide you with a referral or discount code for your subscribers by chance, as well? (Congrats on selling OJ by the way!! Was watching the eBay auction. Someone is a lucky buyer!! :)
Thanks for the video guys in getting mine today I been looking for a good motor mount, made a mistake last time I replaced mine, got a cheap one. after one trip on wind rock was gonna lol

It sure seems like a nice upgrade.

Yeah, running the bolt the opposite way is an option. We're hoping to not have to mess with it for years to come...

I agree. They are a very high quality product. Excellent customer service if you ever have a question or problem.
Love my Brown Dog mounts and the best customer service ever!
Yeah! They're a great upgrade.

Sounds like an excellent project! And yes, it's very nice to be able to call the actual manufacturer of the part when you have an issue.
Thanks Dale for your tips and tricks and things to remember “” I’ll be sure to check my mounts out when I change my motor out . Some time in November.
Very common motor mount fail in Jeeps... Thanks for the video..
Gotta love these older Jeeps.
thank you, your videos are awesome and help us novice jeep owner a lot
Glad they help you out!

Dang. Good thing you got it fixed up.
Wow, no joke, that's good stuff to get fixed.
The gag reel is back! yes! thanks for the great video, these have been on my list for a while, nice to see them going in.
cool! Thank you. I hope it helps ya out.
Thank you for the info
I just love your videos.. Great how to and entertaining.
Haha. Thank you. Glad you're enjoying them.
The Jurassic Jeep is looking good.
Agreed! Waiting on the showcase video!
Thanks! It's coming along nicely.

Thank you! I hope to get to the heater core on the Project 92 YJ I am currently working on.
I had these on my XJ for a short time, But I didn’t like the amount of vibration the transmitted into the cab. So ultimately, I went back to stock.
I'd call them if you're having any vibration issues. They can talk you through troubleshooting the issue.
Did this help the crazy engine vibration?
I am new to jeeps. If I am installing 1 inch body lift and 1 inch motor mount lift do I have to lift the transmission 1 inch? Thank you!
Do they make CJ5 motor mounts?

Why did you do the brackets also?
Do you guys think that my metalcloak oil skid will still work with the brackets? Not sure if the brackets use all the holes.
Humm... not sure.
Where did you get the Sizzurp? Love me some codiene while wrenching under the XJ. 😜

Here's a high quality replacement set by Brown Dog amzn.to/2EIDLdI
I don't have the measurements on hand, sorry.

I use browndog too, stock mounts always break, their junk.
After working a BMW you would know how dumb them mount are on American cars. Get hydraulic into rubber mounts
New but bad design motor mounts made my Jeep the haunted Jeep for a while. It was awful. Had rubber put in.
Hey not sure if true but your Instagram account has been liking some odd pages. Just wondering if it may have been hacked
Huh.. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check it out.
I have the 1 inch motor lift mounts. A way better alternative to a transfer case drop
Yeah, it's a nice system.
Thanks for the video guys in getting mine today I been looking for a good motor mount, made a mistake last time I replaced mine, got a cheap one. after one trip on wind rock was gonna lol
Don't drop it.
Haha. Yep. I like that line for some reason.
I think I feel a catchphrase coming on...
Brown dog are not the best by far. Stinkyfab are.
That is what is called "opinion"...
no good cant see what you do how did you brace the motor up, you did not explaine anything
