Lyrics:
The bells of St Mary's
Ah, hear they are calling
The young loves, the true loves
That come from the sea
And so my beloved
When red leaves are falling
The love bells shall ring out
The love bells shall ring out
For you and me

Rest in soul, Bobby Sheen. And Phil... YOU are not forgotten either.
Phil is still alive, hopefully rotting in his cell
@@wavecast64 no longer, died in prison.
One of the very best Spector outings. Bobby Sheen is amazing!
STILL a 'personal favourite' for me !!.
The lead vocal was by the late Bobby Sheen. He later toured with doo wop groups on package shows and in Las Vegas.
The energy Spector put into his productions was legendary, this is probably his most exemplary work!
Each year I choose Xmas mp3 song to play all through the year on my mp3 shuffle mix. The last year it was Toyland,
in 2024 it will be this wonderful music, The Bells of St. Mary.
Maybe it’s my age, but I never get tired of listening to this incredible Christmas album. It’s release date fell on Nov. 22, 1963, the day JFK was assassinated, and it was a little overlooked until the following year.
no, it aint your age. as someone born over 30 years after this album released, its very good.
Me neither. I hate the Holiday favorites of today.
I'm 44, and the wall of sound hits me as hard as anyone!
we bought it in Miami on Nov. 16th, 1963, my brothers birthday, at Burdines Dept. Store at 163rd St. Shopping Center.
I have The Phil Spector Back To Mono and I almost forgot about the Xmas Album. The Man is so amazing with his productions.
The rarest track on the entire album, it's one you don't hear anywhere, either on the radio or on the Music Choice digital TV channels.
Really? I listen to Sunny 99.1 during November-December and I know I've heard this one. Phil Spector's Christmas album is one of my favorites of all time, so I get especially thrilled when his songs come on.
Originally 1 of my least favorites.
NOW I play it on REPEAT.
Please, people....play this for your kids and grand children. It's a wonderful rendition of a classic!
It literally... Made me Cry.
Nothing short of genius. The refrain is euphoric, so much energy, warmth and emotion. A powerhouse of excellence.
Like Jingle Bells, which is a Valentin'e Day song, this tune has nothing to do with Christmas. It's a love song. But it does have some of the best drumwork you'll ever hear.
Absolutely agreed
The bells of St. Mary's
Ah, hear they are calling
The young loves, the true loves
Who come from the sea
And so my beloved
When red leaves are falling
The love bells shall ring out, ring out
For you and me
The bells of St. Mary's
Ah, hear they are calling
The young loves, the true loves
Who come from the sea
And so my beloved
When red leaves are falling
The love bells shall ring out, ring out
For you and me
Probably the best drum outro ever recorded. What a great effort by all involved, including Spector as producer.
Its glorious
I could listen to that fadeout on an endless loop...Endlessly! My favorite cut on the album.
Agreed, my eyes leak every-time I hear it. Hal Blaine on drums seem to have just been let loose
BEAUTIFUL MUSIC
‘Love bells shall ring out’ the first time I heard that, I felt my life was complete. Phil Spector was a true genius like no other, with the greatest voices and musicians.
Found in a place like 'time in a bottle ' for those persons exposed to the pressure and fickleness of fame. Back to Mono was a good collection with a lot of songs.
How is this not a Christmas Classic???
One reason, it's not actually a Christmas song.
My two favorite Christmas songs of all time came from this album, which was released in late 1963, this particular song and the Ronettes' SLEIGH RIDE. Good Post!
Larry N. Boyington, aka Larry Neal, former curator of the Wax Museum on the big 1520 KOMA
I have this CD and play it every Christmas.
I cry every time I hear this song so brilliant
Me too because my old neighbor Jim Clayton did great bluegrass version on mandolin at my local library to a standing room only crowd with me recording him in the front row.
After I showed it to him he asked me; "How did you get the film in your computer"😀 ruclips.net/video/gNe2BtAQt4o/видео.html
Best Xmas album ever ❤
My favorite of the bunch
Awesome timeless Christmas track along with an awesome drummer..
Yessssssssssss. This is excellent.
Euphoric.
I got this amazing album cause l love the Phil Spector sound and Bob B. Soxx's vocals!
It really has that Phil Spector touch.
My Favorite Christmas album as a Child....
I had no idea people played drums so well that long ago. No technology, no advanced computers or apps, no RUclips, no advanced music schools or techniques...I’m in awe, the drums are simply amazing.
The drummer on this is most likely Hal Blaine or Earl Palmer. Both are considered two of the greatest session drummers of all-time.
Bradley Scarton,
Yes, from what I was able to find, it was Hal Blaine.
the drummer is Hal Blaine, the greatest sessions drummer ever. His hits are endless.
Hal Blaine and Frank Capp. This is one of the greatest Christmas albums ever recorded!
That was Mr Hal Blaine. He was simply the best in the business
Oh, yes...that Hal Blaine fade.
the best of a great players
@@johnstiern5040 Indubitably!
Fantastic track from a wonderful album...I first heard this song in this version and I've just come to check it out, having heard a very different, but also excellent version by the banjo player Margo MacSweeney.
Beautiful!
🤔 nothing like the goodfellas version
That was The Drifters version. Also excellent!
the one thing one can say about Phil Spector is an Artist, wonderful voice...
What movie was this song from?
1945 Film with the same title - Bing Crosby and Ingrid Bergman. This version, of course, was not recorded until the early 60s.
@@johnconway9882 I ended up buying this record this year. It’s one of the best Christmas albums I’ve ever heard. All the songs but one are played in movies and on the radio. It’s all so great!
The one song that isn’t played is Phil Spector singing, here comes Santa clause. It’s still a good version of the song tho.
