    The bezel on the gauge is rolled over where it slips over the back housing. To open it you need to use a pick tool or similar to fold the rolled edge up all the way around, so it can come off. You need to do this carefully to avoid damaging the bezel. On reassembly you need to fold the back edge of the bezel back down to hold it all together. This does leave the back edge of the bezel a bit rough, but that is covered by the rubber sleeve which holds the gauge into the dash.
    There is plenty of info online on how to repair the odometer. This requires a broken plastic gear to be replaced.

      @@blandsbarn there are some videos that explain that and you will also be needind to substitute a gear on the inside (or two), thy are available and not very expensive.
      To substitute the gearing you don't need to disassemble all the odometer, just the top part, you carefully remove the needle, remove the two small bolts which hold the face plate and the bolts beneath (I believe there's 3 of them) and you will have acess to the carrier of the odometer which holds the gears, one of them is made in a different yellow or brown plastic which usually deintegrates. Minitools an Italian company sells them and also Partsworks from Germany, I don't remember if Design911 have them, I bougth it from Minitools.

    Classic issue with the steering wheel, you just need a new bushing to slot in there.
    Floor needs adhesive dampening material.
    Good choice to send the dial out to a specialist. All these issues a readily available to read about online 😀
    Good luck!

    As mentioned I an earlier comment good decision to send the dash dial out, it would’ve been the sort of issue that would have bogged you down if you’d have persisted. Great work on the seat Shane, all in all another big leap forward………….better weather coming. Steve from Norfolk👍

    Do you ever use a head-torch Shane? No good for recording a blog because you'll blind the viewers, but otherwise they're a game changer.

    Why would you spray paint thr things to do with the gear stick but not the floor as you have the carpets up?

    • @blandsbarn
      @blandsbarn  8 месяцев назад

      Because I might leave the gear mechanism on show but will definitely be putting carper down on the floor. Thanks for watching

      @@blandsbarn obviously you're putting the carpet back in but do a properjob on the paint work. It will be better for you in the long run rather than a half arsed job.
