what you need is multi fuel campng stove and jet boil pot as your water boiling set up, you can use propane from your propane tank as well as gas from car to run it, jet boil jug has fins on the base which absorbs heat from the flame and boils water really fast, as you are already using a tent to as kitchnette, you dont have to worry about carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide build up in your sleeping area. that will help you save batteries.

For heat you can not beat a diesel heater. Also safer than a buddy heater. I camp in my Caravan a lot. Diesel heater will heat it overnight and use about 1/2 gallon of diesel. Propane causes condensation. I do like your setup. Very simple and not permanent
You can use your buddy heater to cook while it's warming you up. Get the most out of. All you need is a 5 gallon paint grate and hang it on the buddy's handle. Your water will boil AND you'll warm up at the same time. No need to waste your battery.
I'm off grid I tried a electric blanket for about 6 months threw winter with about 18 degrees it worked ok. But 2 sleeping bags and a few blankets on top in 18 degrees worked better, no heat or no power! I was totally warm in 2 sleeping bags, few blankets on top, 4 layer hat, shirt, socks and underwear. Very warm after about 40 minutes!
Yeah sleeping bag is more practical for sure, just wanted to try out the electric blanket thing to see what it’s like and if it’s worth it. I’d want to get one that pull less watts, and just have extra blanket. Also decent solar setup before I’d want to use it for multiple days in a row.
@@TolbersCamping I burned up a cheap Chinese inverter generator only running it at times and lasted through the winter after running the electric blanket. Electric blanket instructions said don't use with a generator. The generator would spike up and down all night on the lowest setting on the electric blanket.
If all you are doing is boiling water, I understand electric kettles (like they use in Britain for making tea all the time) are far more efficient and faster at boiling water. For more info you can watch the video "Why don't Americans use electric kettles?" By the channel Technology Connections.
Your only talking about the output side of that equation. While 1KW of electricity can be converted to 1kw of heat energy, you have to consider the power density. He's got a 80lb battery pack that holds around 2kw, which is 2kw of heat energy. a single 4 oz isobutane canister which weighs a few oz has more energy than that. The video you reference, while a good video, is also under the assumption that accessibility to either energy source is not limited. Just because you can use your cell phone energy to boil a cup of water doesn't mean you should, especially if then you will have no energy for your cell phone.
I’ve never used one but from what I have heard that will be a better option so can’t wait to try and see the difference 😁 I’ll make sure to get the proper cookware also. Thanks for watching bro
Once again great vid. I. Like the room a lot and for me I liked the wide angle shots. Really liked your bed set up. Dont give up the electric blanket😉. Thanks again. May Peace Health and Happiness follow you and yours

I love my electric blanket, I live where it can get down to -50C in winter so it comes in handy! I could never live without one!
Great set-up....well thought out, and looks nice and cozy....HAPPY CAMPING.... you did a very good job on the visual and sound of the video.....I really enjoyed watching and just subbed....cant wait to watch your next adventure
Enjoyed the video and the lens did a good job on the wide angle with some distortion. Thank you for showing more cooking and heating options, but I think I will stick to gas for cooking. My small power bank definitely would not stand up to the load. Safe travels and happy camping!
Thanks David and I agree the wide lens definitely looked useable just not as clear in lower light situations. Gas cooking is still definitely more doable for majority of people, technology is definitely coming along way though and shouldn’t be to long before it’s a great option at a reasonable price.
Heated blankets are so nice of you can facilitate it, my husband and I uses one in an RV, we didn't want to use up all our propane on heat, the heated blanket saved our butts
Hey there... If I remember correctly from the past,,, Electric blankets aren't supposed to have a lot of weight on them when powered. They are supposed to go over people, not the other way around. One of the waste products of burning propane is water. Humidity will increase the longer you have the heater on... Or when using a propane stove. Sometimes it condenses on the metal above the headliner especially when really cold. Black mold can make a home. Stay safe and warm
Yeah I’ve never slept on top of a heater blanket but worked great. I agree though it’s probably not meant for it, just a trial thing for me. Yes propane does create quiet a bit of moisture, but just like after you take a shower you turn on the fan to pull all the moisture out you can start your vehicle and run the heat with ac on for a few minutes to do the same thing as you see I did in this video. Thanks for watching!
@@TolbersCamping Electric blankest also not supposed to be folded over on to themselves. This can create hot spots where one wire crosses another. Another thing is the extension cord for the hot plate. Something this high of wattage should not be attached to an extension cord. Especially one that is under a floor mat with no protection. There are reasons people burn down their houses in the winter. Most of which are related to stressing electrical systems beyond their design intent.
@@macdaddykwm1 Thanks for letting me know about the heated blanket thing. As far as the extensions cord thing I always make sure to use one that's rated higher then what the draw is. Thanks for watching bro

You might consider a smaller 12 volt blanket for your water supply. It would use less power than yours and warm water is nice to wake up to on your face.

Love the cup. Faith over fear is the way. So thankful for your vid. I have been considering getting out this month in my Grand Caravan as well. Now I know what buddy heater to buy.
Great to see you back brother. Hope you and the fam had a wonderful holiday. I wish i could do some over nighters but because of health its only day trips for now. Love the rig set up. BTW, the cup your wife made is sick. God bless and be safe.
Thanks bro! Yeah I’ve had a lot because companies want to send them to me and I really like learning which are the best. Now I only accept ones that are larger and better than my previous one because my goal is to go all electric eventually. They definitely are expensive, which is why it’s best to just get a smaller more affordable one at first and as you save up money sell that one and upgrade to something larger. The first one I bought was the Bluetti EB55 which isn’t very large but I was able to runs all my lights, charge my phone, drones and all that no issue. The really large ones aren’t really needed, they are more of a luxury for like making coffee, toaster, heated blankets, portable ac and so on. Propane can take care of a lot of things.
Wow. Nice Video As Usual. I Would Get The Closed In Camper That Connect To The Van With Windows And With The Floor And The Part That Close In At The Bottom Of The Van. No Bugs, Snakes Nor Animals. The Blanket Is A Great Idea. It May Deplete The Battery And Just Make Coffee, But You Can Recharge During The Day. You May Have Already Said How Long It Take To Charge, But I Didn't See It. It's Pretty Big. Enjoy Your Videos. They Are Not Long And Boring. Beautiful Scripture. Thank You
Have you tried a jet boil? They're good for the dehydrated food and for boiling water in general, my husband and I uses one for a weekend camping trip when we didn't want to buy a bunch of food and worry about cooking, and having ice and stuff, it was pretty convenient
Ive got a 2019 Dodge Caravan & working on my build now. I removed all back seats thus exposing the floor tubs. The rear tub is where I'm putting my Honda EU2200 generator, Buchu diesel heater & window air conditioner. Figured I'd get the high dollar & hard stuff done first because anything else is cosmetic.
@@TolbersCamping it does and will probably capture the cosiness inside the van even better. Could you tell me what magnets you bought, the strengths.. looking for an awning myself, and how too attach it.
Get yourself a woodstove fan make a notch in the back of the base hook it to the body heater. you'll be able to put it on low and move a lot more heat around..
Thanks and yeah it’s my favorite at that price range and size currently. Also it has the highest rated capacity test I’ve ever seen on a power station. So you are truly getting as much power as you pay for
Matt, I use a Mr Cofee Keurig to heat water for my dehydrated food pouches. I use a Generarc 1000 Watt power bank almost identical to your Jackery, it heats the water in about 2 minutes and didn't draw much at all on it.
Electric blankets is definitely the way to go. The heat is exactly where you need it. Another option is hot water bottles, a couple of them could keep you warm for a while.
The video was great including the wide angle clip. Your portable cabin is getting cooler every time. That burner isn’t really worth it if you think about it. The Coleman butane one seems more efficient to me. Of course maybe it was too cold for the butane to work. The heated blanket is nice I’m sure. I have one but it drains my Jackery pretty fast so I have never used it. 0 degree sleeping bag works fine for me. But I haven’t gone out in temps lower than 35 degrees think. Getting a lot of ideas from your videos. Light strings are great and don’t use much power.
Thanks Ruth! Yeah propane cooking is still the best option for most. It’s just fun seeing what’s possible with electricity while off grid and trying to figure out the best efficient setup. As technology continues to improve I’m sure it will become more affordable and possible to go full electric.
I am a new subscriber I watch videos they are really good bro look like you enjoy all that I am starting to get my suv like that want to camp in my what power station you recommend in a budget thank you
That’s awesome bro! I’m not sure what your budget is, but if your main goal is to just run some led lights and maybe charge your phone and what not I’d start with a cheaper Bluetti. I started with the Bluetti EB55 and loved it. This would be a great small one to start with and then sell it and upgrade as you get more money. a.co/d/5G1HgaH

I thought about your electric blanket trick for a couple of days and then I decided to try it, but it didn't work out so well. My blanket was painfully hot when I laid on it and it was on the lowest setting. Oh well. It was worth a try.
Yeah I was worried that would be the case as I’ve used some really hot ones before but this one’s seems to have a temperature sensor and shut off periodically to keep it from getting to hot.
In the past I had a water bed they are nice cause you can control the temp based on the current season like summer OR Winter. I remember being put on muscle relaxers when I had a water bed tell you what. Being on muscle relaxers and sleeping on a water bed it's pure heaven it's like your floating on clouds. Using a heating pad for your bed OR even a heating blanket as one is nice as well during winter. Turn it on like 10 mins before getting in bed you will never climb in a cold bed ever again.
The wide angle looked great. No issues with the sound either. Do you have a JetBoil. I think they’ll boil water in 1-2 minutes and use very little fuel
Thanks bro and I have never actually used there stove thing just the fuel canisters. I’m sure that would be way more efficient I’m just playing with this electric thing to see what is possible at this time.

Which one would you get if you only picked one? (Larger versions)
Two thumbs up buddy!! I don't even do camping, but this was a Rad video!! Brrrrr!
I love this lifestyle, thank you for sharing
Thank You
You can also buy a 500w hot plate instead of that 1500w. They're perfect and small.
Just a quick note, some e blankets suggest not bunching or doubling up the fabric as it can cause a fire hazard.
Yeah I didn’t realize you’re not supposed to do that until after 😅
audio and wide angle shot sounds and looks great
Ok thanks!
Figured I'd get the high dollar & hard stuff done first because anything else is cosmetic.
that was fun, and your wife gets you nice stuff ! i liked the wide angle shot.
Thanks bro, it can be hard to get everything I want on video sometimes so that wide shot should help.
@@TolbersCamping it does and will probably capture the cosiness inside the van even better. Could you tell me what magnets you bought, the strengths.. looking for an awning myself, and how too attach it.
Hi there, great Vlog, very nice set up.Thanks for sharing!
Greetings from Germany, Silke👋☘
Thanks Lu!
Really enjoy your videos, thank you.
Get yourself a woodstove fan make a notch in the back of the base hook it to the body heater. you'll be able to put it on low and move a lot more heat around..
The wide angle looks great. The price on that 2000 watt battery bank is really good. Ive been pricing them for awhile.
Wide angle is brilliant ! Love it
Thanks Robin!
Electric blankets is definitely the way to go. The heat is exactly where you need it. Another option is hot water bottles, a couple of them could keep you warm for a while.
I just had your videos show up in my feed. I subscribed and appreciate the adventures and the bible verses. God bless.
Awesome video!
Oh wow, it is beautiful where you are camping.
Great upload as always !
❤👍🏼👍🏼👋🏼
Thanks ♥️
I really enjoyed your video !! Stay warm and safe !!
Thanks Toni!
The electric mattress pad is great. It keeps the body warm even if you use only one blanket on top.
Living in Minnesota, any chance you can tell us what parks you winter camp at? Looking for places to stay. Love the channel.
I love your videos! Im hooked now! 😉👍🏻 Greetings from California 🌴
Thanks Jose! Hope to visit cali at some point
Looking forward for the 2023 videos and new set ups
Thanks bro! New ones coming soon 😀
I think you want an LP gas detector too! If anything in your propane system links, it likely won't end well...
I have one bellow the propane tank, should have shown that too lol. I also check for leaks after I hook it up.
I just want to for like a single electric burner stove phones led light and probably a mini fridge thank you
Amen. God bless you and keep you and your family. 🕊
Excellent set up
Thanks!
Hey Bro! Nice vlog! I like the set up! Everything is coming along great, definitely looks comfortable! The highlight of the videos is seeing what candle your burning for the vlog! 😆 I yell at my finance about my “ good “
Candles LOLOL
I thought about your electric blanket trick for a couple of days and then I decided to try it, but it didn't work out so well. My blanket was painfully hot when I laid on it and it was on the lowest setting. Oh well. It was worth a try.
You can use it as a blanket instead. Most good ones are temperature control with a thermostat. Mine was anyhow.
@@l.b.3148 I do use it as a blanket because it IS a blanket. I just tried his under trick, but my wires got too hot when I laid on top of it.
Yeah I was worried that would be the case as I’ve used some really hot ones before but this one’s seems to have a temperature sensor and shut off periodically to keep it from getting to hot.
Wide angle is good. Nice sound.
Thanks!
Your camera is so clear!
Loved the video!!! 🥰
Thanks 😁
Moonshine was just too experienced my budget. My vans a high top so a tarp and a few magnets with poles will do for now
Yeah it’s nice quality and convenient, but definitely expensive lol
Nice video brother sweet set up
Thanks bro!
I firmly believe in electric blankets while van camping. Moon shade is cool but too pricey🤷🏻♀️ I love the video, thanks for sharing🏕
Thanks and I agree it is pricey but I really like it
If the top of that outdoor tent had a clear roof, it could let in sunshine and get free heat on a sunny day. Just an idea🤔
@@l.b.3148 it’s more made to be shade in the summer, but black can also attract and hold in heat when the walls are on.
I love your videos, you inspire me!
Looks good - thanks, big Matt.
Thanks Chuck, God bless you!
🦁 Lion of Judah! Wide angle looks good but color seemed different for some reason. Love the light sock hat!
Thanks and God bless!
i have a 12volt electric blanket and use 2 marine batteries, lasts all night
Makes sleep really nice 😁
Seems so comfy, peaceful
