I cannot agree with you more, Lori, regarding the fast fashion craze. I cannot stand SHEIN & TEMU! If I see one more influencer sharing their TEMU haul, I’m going to scream! I understand that not everyone can afford to shop at Anthropology or Nordstrom, but with so many thrift stores across the country, it would be so much more sustainable if people would buy secondhand quality items, vs fast fashion items. I’ve honestly quit watching influencers who have sold out to TEMU & SHEIN. I am that passionate about the issue. Thank you for saying something about this!

The thing is that most-all of these influencer TEMU hauls are sponsored/paid content. I think the market for those are the young 'uns who want to be on trend. I'm with you. Their stuff is garbage! We're starting to see more, and more of it at the thrift stores, and bins.

I've never sourced by trend but I have a narrow focus on what I buy. Sometimes I test a new category (currently men's silk ties) if the buy-in is low. In 2024, I'm looking for international brands mostly French, Italian and Scandinavian as well as items I can sell for $50 or more.
I work at a thrift shop and yes those shoes you showed we can’t even move those styles for $2 or the distressed jeans.

I love heels and wedges for myself. I am realizing at 47 I lost touch with what’s in style and tend to wear what I like and feel good about it. I never thought I’d be that girl lol!
I love waterfall cardigans! I think they are so pretty!!
I definitely agree with waterfall cardigans! For some reason the Sam Edelman “hazel” pumps still do well for me even though they are high heels, and I don’t do that well with Sam Edelman. I have a hard time selling all skirts! Great video!
Round of applause Lori, thanks for articulating a lot of the sentiments I have. What's funny is that you made me realize, I skip over orange and red items as well in the thrift stores that color code their racks. I also hate to admit it, but I've been so frustrated by black items lately, just getting them lint free to ship out, I love black but boy is it a painpoint to make look nice!

As primarily a buyer for myself in the thrift market, I would never purchase a long or waterfall cardigan, distressed jeans, skinny jeans, cutout shoulder anything, round toed shoes/boots, booties, mini skirts, non-leather bags, tunic blouses/tops, stilettos, strictly polyester, nylon or other non-organic materials, or anything obviously designer labeled (I’m not giving them free advertising any longer). If I do find a high end item that is too big, too long, etc., and the price is right, my tailor is my best friend. As a consumer of pre-owned goods, I hope you find my opinion useful.
We don’t find it useful and in fact , you’re a negative Nancy on all your comments on Lori’s RUclips page .

In the past skirts had been a hard sell for me but in the past six months skirts have been selling well for me.
Skirts are in. I watch haul videos that aren't just reseller, because it shows what people are looking for. They're looking for skirts.

I just bought a pair of Madewell jeans with distressing on the knees & 3 pairs of Andriano Goldschmeid jeans off of Thred Up. The AG jeans were not distressed or skinny, but they were a straighter leg style. I just love how AG jeans fit me, but I have a difficult time spending $225 on a pair of them at Nordstrom or Anthropology! I looked in your closet prior to going to Thred Up, but I didn’t see any AG denim. I have quite a few friends who like AG denim, too, for what it’s worth! 😊

I’m also leaving behind waterfall cardigans . I can’t even move Barefoot Dreams cardigans. It’s interesting to see that things I have stopped picking up are also on your list. Heels are not something I pick up anymore but the exception would be designer 😊

I had mentioned passing on any more high heels to her, but somehow those heels keep appearing at my home where I photograph & store them...ha ha! Hopefully she listens to you. :) Thanks again!
I haven’t sold heels since Covid began, since so many people are no longer in the office and/or many companies have eased up on their dress codes. I also cannot move most skirts so I pass altogether on picking them up.
Agree. I don't source party dresses, formal attire, office and dinner suits.. They sit too long and also have a higher return rate. Office wear is selling slowly these days. I will pick up casual unconstructed blazers and Betabrand pants when I see them as they do sell steadily.

I’ve not liked waterfall cardigans in my own wardrobe let alone to sell for a few years now. They look very dated and I’d add to that cold shoulder tops
