Faster method...
Use the form
x²-(s1+s2)x+(s1s2)=0
Where s1+s2= sum of roots and s1s2= product of roots (area of rectangle)
Since the Perimeter is twice the sum of roots (i.e. 44), then s1+s2= 22
By substitution from the equation above, we get
x²-22x+72=0
Finally, by factoring, we get
(x-18)(x-4)
The dimensions are
L= 18 in²
W= 4 in²

Let's use the root form of a quadratic equation
x²-(s1+s2)x+(s1s2)=0
Where s1+s2 is the sum of roots and s1s2 is the product.
The sum of roots is half the perimeter of 80 cm.
So, s1+s2= 40 cm.
s1s2 is the area which turns out to be 384 cm².
Substituting these to the quadratic root form, we get
x²-40x+384=0
Then by factoring
(x-16)(x-24)
Length = 24 cm.
Breadth = 16 cm.
