15:15 - Fun fact, Michelle Pfeiffer extensively trained and learned how to use a whip. This scene where she beheads three mannequins was not only done in one take, but was done on the fist take. In the BTS footage on YT, you can hear director Tim Burton yell "cut" after she does it, to which the entire crew appears in the frame to cheer and applaud her skill.
I think she was taught how to use a whip by Antony de Longis, same man who taught the whip to Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones and to Anthony Hopkins and Antonio Banderas for the zorro movies.
I also think Michelle Pfeiffer had the same whip coach as Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones, if I remember, the whip master who trained them said Pfeiffer was better. Also, she had to be sewed into that Catwoman suit each day.

I just watched this last night myself! It's one of my all time favorite Christmas movies and movies in general. What's so different about it is unlike other traditional Christmas films, this one does not have a happy ending. The hero despite making through doesn't really feel like a victory. The Penguin's story is one of the saddest and tragic stories I've ever seen for a villain. Catwoman's story despite showing she's somewhat open to change and real happiness rejects it outright and chooses to be a loner. Max Schreck is really the only villain losing that feels justified. The scene that always gets me is the Penguin's funeral where the only ones who never abandoned him and who truly loved him place him to rest in the water. Tim Burton and Danny Elfman of course are geniuses and masters of their crafts and bring together an experience that directors and composers are STILL trying to replicate.

Thanks, Jen! Sometime soon you should look up the three actresses who played Catwoman opposite Adam West in the '60s. Julie Newmar and Eartha Kitt were in TV, and Lee Merriweather was in the '60s movie.
Seeing Michelle Pfeiffer again reminded me of Stardust (2007). You absolutely need to see it. Got a whole Princess Bride vibe of not taking itself too serious. People loved the adventure, but unfortunately it was a complete standalone. They could have build a whole universe of it.
Paul Reubens (pee wee Herman) played the penguins father. Michelle Pfeiffer performed the whip scene in the store in one take. Danny devito has the penguin costume displayed in a glass case in his house. There was supposed be a cat woman movie with Michelle but the timing was always off and she said she got to the point where she felt she was too old to do it. I think she could still do it today, she still looks amazing.

Lol🤓 loved your duckcapitated pun!! 😂😂😂 I would watch any or all the following batmans you choose to watch. It's always a fun time watching your reactions! Also Luv your musical appreciation for the soundtracks! Luv ya Jen ❤️💛
Batman Returns is my favorite Batman movie, but I have such great nostalgia and memories with Batman Forever that I love it even though people don't always have nice things to say about it.
I think it's fair to say Catwoman is more of an anti-hero. Especially in this version. Originally she is a cat burglar, a thief, but she's not a killer. She can sometimes do the right thing, but mostly she's motivated If there's a profit in it. There is a comicbook adaptation of the cancelled 3rd Tim Burton Batman movie, which was apparently gonna be called Batman Continues (I don't know If the comic has that title also). The villain in that one is Billy Dee Williams's Harvey Dent as Two-Face, Robin is introduced & he's black (Marlon Wayans was considered for the role) & Catwoman would have returned also. Speaking of Catwoman, the infamous Halle Berry movie was originally gonna be a spinoff movie with Michelle Pfeiffer returning, but that project took years before it could be made & Pfeiffer lost interest (plus I think she was relieved to not having to put on the suit again since it wasn't a pleasure to put that suit on & off according to her)
The fun and the music are two things that just aren't there in newer Batman movies. Tim Burton really has a gift for creating a dark setting, but pulling back just enough with a bit of levity to keep from feeling too heavy. Danny Elfman's score takes it to a whole new level.
Yes, do a Tim Burton deep dive. You won't be sorry, and neither will I. His artistic vision is quirky and unique. As always, thanks so much for sharing.
Burton did indeed do Edward Scissorhands. It's brilliant and heartbreaking, and has what is probably Danny Elfman's best score (he thinks so IIRC, and I agree). You should definitely watch it. And Corpse Bride. That is another Burton/Elfman collab that doesn't get enough attention.
I would certainly be interested in seeing your reactions to the two Batman movies after this. Might as well watch all of them! Well, all of them except for the 1966 Adam West Batman show. I loved how you talked about Bruce's fireplace. "You could fit 20 people in there! Not that I ... you'd wanna do that ..."
This movie is by far my favorite Christmas/super hero/Batman movie and movie in general of all time! I love it! It's always a fun time watching it! I love Michael Keaton, Batman is my favorite super hero and Catwoman is my favorite female character of all time! I also love me some Tim Burton movies! I could go on and on but I just love this movie so much and I'm so glad that you did too! Sorry if my comment is all over the place but I just love any excuse to talk about this movie!
This movie is so quirky. I think it’s probably the most unique Batman movie, even standing out from the first Burton film, with its twisted-yet-cartoonish villains.
Michelle Pfeiffer did an amazing job with the Catwoman character... the way she says "Meow...", and then the entire building explodes, is priceless! 😳 She looks damn good in leather too... 😎
Tim Burton's Batman movies are the best Batman movies ever. First time I saw Michelle Pfeiffer was in Grease 2. Had a major crush on her. Then I saw her as Catwoman, and just WOW! She portrays Catwoman purrfect! Just the perfect mix of sexy, sleek and crazy. The next two Batman movies ( Batman Forever and Batman & Robin ) are not the same style as these two first ones. I liked Batman Forever, as I'm a huge fan of Tommy Lee Jones, and seeing Jim Carrey in it, just brought it all together. Batman & Robin was an OK popcorn film. Far from good, but still entertaining if you're not expecting much from it. I allways recommend watching them, just to be able to utter your own opinions :)
The three main characters are SO compelling in this one. I love the Penguin, his only desires are to be loved and to know who he is. Danny DeVito plays him perfectly. And Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman is just beyond amazing. Oh yeah plus Batman blows a guy up with TNT, it's impossible to hate this movie!
My 6th favorite movie of all time, 2nd favorite superhero movie (after the original 2002 Spider-Man), and favorite film score of all time containing my favorite piece of music ever written (Selina Transforms, the main Catwoman theme)
I still see Julie Newmar when I think Catwoman. Penguin feels like a swing and a miss both here and in Burgess Meredith's (Rocky's Mick) version. We never get a sense of the character's abilities beyond tricky umbrellas. And here, his ability to hijack control of a car he knows nothing about is ludicrous.
One of my friends and i used to write dirty limericks in high school during class. This is one my more mild ones but still decent. There once was a man in zoo, Who was a little less normal than you, He jumped on a filly, And f*cked the thing silly, And said there was nothing better to do.
My second Favorite Walken performance, only just behind Dead Zone. And the fact that his character in this is named after the actor who played Nosferatu is a nice gothic touch.
One of my favorites movies and definitely one I rewatch with pleasure every December as one of my Xmas mood flicks! Michelle Pfeiffer took the crazy cat lady expression to a whole new level. She's amazing in this and her chemistry with Batman is awesome!
Great comments throughout, as always. 🤣 I think the mask removal process was just too long or tedious for that moment. He didn't want to say, "Hold that thought." and have her wait 5 minutes, so he just ripped it instead.
Alfred's dirty limerick: Sudden exits really are the worst. I'm afraid this one was not well-rehearsed. Ms. Kyle cannot chat. She has a date with a bat. And she wants to be the one to come first.
The Tim Burton Batman films really got me into collecting die-cast models of the Batmobile and Batman action figures as a child. That's carried into adulthood where I still look for the latest Batman figure designs. I also play Video Games and Batman Returns on the SNES is by far one of the best on that console!
I was 6 when I saw the original in the theater in 89 and about 9 years old when I saw this in the theater. I remember being so excited sitting in my theater seat waiting for the movie to begin. Definitely check out the next two films. Though they have their flaws, there is still plenty of entertainment value in them, for different reasons. As a fan of the classic 1960's Batman tv show, I get many of the inside nods to that show, which is why I do enjoy the next film and the 4th one to a lesser extent. Great reaction.
I still watch this anytime it's on. Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeiffer were such a great pairing. I think you'd love Michael Keaton in Multiplicity. A great fun comedy! Edit: Duck-apitation made me crack up 😂
Legit one of my favourite movies growing up and probably one of my favourites of the whole dang franchise. When my buddy Jake asked me to play Mr Freeze in his holiday-themed epsiode of his Batman fanfilm series (see it over at Claws and Webs Productions), I convinced him to include a reference to those final lines. "Well, come what may. Merry Christmas, Mister Wayne." "Merry Christmas, Alfred. Good will toward men... and women."
I think the Danny Elfman's "Batman Returns" and "Edward Scissorhands" scores are my two favorites of his. The "Selina Transforms" and "Death of a Penguin" pieces are gorgeous, gothic and haunting.
Really cool movie, Tim Burton's films are always so artful and dreamlike. Jen, you'd make an awesome "cat broad," "Mee-Ouch!" It took all my discipline to wait a half hour for the best pun ever. I forgot the brilliant Jan Hooks had a small part, I miss her.

31:21: “Duck-capitated!” 😄🦆
Funny that most people don't notice this; Penguin's dad was played by Paul Ruben, aka Peewee Herman. Star of Pee Wee's Big Adventure, also scored by Danny Elfman and directed by Tim Burton.
**slaps fireplace mantle** you can fit 20 people in this bad boy
This is my favorite Catwoman origin story. She's brought back to make the wrong things right, like the Crow with paws and pink noses! 🤠🐈
"She looks like a 🧟♂️... She kinda is!"
Astute as always Jen 🧐
Thankfully, Selena lacks the hunger for tasty 🧠
An undead entity driven by revenge is commonly known as a Revenant.
Revenant Catwoman and sewer monster Penguin are two of my favorite interpretations of the characters, making Returns one of my Batman faves.
Before going on to the Schumacher Batmen (Forever and B&R), I highly recommend checking out the Adam West Batman movie from 1966, as it will help prepare you for Schumacher's brand of Batman humor 😅
Revenant Catwoman equals Crow (but with a Cat, obviously).
I've seen enough reactions now to know the way to Jens heart is through her ears 🎵

20:39 Alfred's limerick
There was an old man from Madras
Who's balls were made of fine brass
So that in stormy weather
They both clanged together
And sparks flew out of his ass
Or
There was a sex worker from Crewe
Who filled up her privates with glue
She then said with a grin
If they pay to get in
Then they'll pay to get out again too
A couple of months ago my Wife and I were at a Danny Elfman/ Tim Burton concert at the Royal Albert Hall London. It was unbelievable. Danny came out and sang songs from Nightmare before Christmas.. Tim Made a special appearance at the end.
This was a great follow up to batman. So glad to seeing you reacting to it. Thanks for doing so.
One of the rare times that I liked the movie better than the book. Definitely worth a watch!
Al's Dirty Limerick: Roses in Bed, Violets in Bloom, Bruce is a Gardener, Who Digs Flowers in his Super Sexy Halloween Cosplay. 🦇😎
"Look at that fire place, you could fit like twenty people in there!" 😂
Paul Reubens aka. Pee-Wee Herman and Diane Salinger play Penguins parents. Both were in Tim Burton’s directorial debut ‘Pee Wees Big Adventure’ Diane played Simone.
"There was a young woman, blonde and pretty
Who tended to act like a Kitty
When Bruce saw her in Latex
He craved morally grey sex
But things got too weird (such a pity!)"
(Alfred's Dirty Limerick)
I've always liked Michael Keaton as Batman and Michelle Phieffer was the best catwoman... Sexy and evil... with or without glasses! Lol🤓 loved your duckcapitated pun!! 😂😂😂 I would watch any or all the following batmans you choose to watch. It's always a fun time watching your reactions! Also Luv your musical appreciation for the soundtracks! Luv ya Jen ❤️💛
This is my favorite Batman movie, frankly.
I’ve been waiting for this one for a while hands down one of the best atmospheric movies of all time
You need to watch Batman (1966). It is the funniest Batman movie of all time and I think you would love the camp.
Speaking of Catwoman, the infamous Halle Berry movie was originally gonna be a spinoff movie with Michelle Pfeiffer returning, but that project took years before it could be made & Pfeiffer lost interest (plus I think she was relieved to not having to put on the suit again since it wasn't a pleasure to put that suit on & off according to her)
the MARLON WAYANS
rumor
is FAKE
he started that as a joke
that snowballed from there
The fun and the music are two things that just aren't there in newer Batman movies.
"Duck-capitated"...only you , hahahahaha
great reaction Jen. Totally on point with the Danny Elfman music. Some of his best IMO.
This & Gremlins are my favorite Christmas films
Thank you!
The one thing I always thought, even as a kid.
He had the wings the entire time, why didn’t he rescue the ice princess 😂
I would certainly be interested in seeing your reactions to the two Batman movies after this. Might as well watch all of them! Well, all of them except for the 1966 Adam West Batman show.
I loved how you talked about Bruce's fireplace. "You could fit 20 people in there! Not that I ... you'd wanna do that ..."
You're breaking my heart. Adam West 60s Batman was hilarious! And with all respect to Michelle Pfeiffer, I still love Julie Newmar as Catwoman.
Unlimited Poontang. That was better than what that Star Wars villain said 😅 I’ll say it- this is better than the whole prequel trilogy
Thanks jen . I never liked these movies but liked reactions on both. Much appreciated.
I watch this every Christmas 🎄
This movie is so quirky. I think it’s probably the most unique Batman movie, even standing out from the first Burton film, with its twisted-yet-cartoonish villains.
Michelle Pfeiffer did an amazing job with the Catwoman character... the way she says "Meow...", and then the entire building explodes, is priceless! 😳
She looks damn good in leather too...
No one can beat Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, no one. She is the best. One of my favorite Batman movies right after The Dark Knight
I still get chills at the start with this title reveal. Nothing beats Elfman's soundtrack for the Burton Batman films.
One of my friends and i used to write dirty limericks in high school during class. This is one my more mild ones but still decent.
There once was a man in zoo,
Who was a little less normal than you,
He jumped on a filly,
And f*cked the thing silly,
And said there was nothing better to do.
Edward Scissorhands is a Tim Burton joint & Johnny Depp is a revelation! 🖤🌹🖤🧛
On the subject of the inner life of cats: I treasure the memory of an Onion headline that said "Area Kitten Thinks Only of Murder".
Great comments throughout, as always. 🤣
I think the mask removal process was just too long or tedious for that moment. He didn't want to say, "Hold that thought." and have her wait 5 minutes, so he just ripped it instead.
Awesome reaction and awesome pun. You continue to be the best, most watchable reactor out there.
Thank you! :)
31:20
That was indeed great, Jen. 🤣🤣🤣
Alfred's dirty limerick:
Sudden exits really are the worst.
I'm afraid this one was not well-rehearsed.
Ms. Kyle cannot chat.
She has a date with a bat.
And she wants to be the one to come first.
Even though I love ‘89 better, I believe that Burton was able to be more himself with this story
The Tim Burton Batman films really got me into collecting die-cast models of the Batmobile and Batman action figures as a child. That's carried into adulthood where I still look for the latest Batman figure designs.
I also play Video Games and Batman Returns on the SNES is by far one of the best on that console!
Batman Forever is definitely worth a watch as a Batman fan. It's super cheesy but still fun.
Fun fact: Cat woman was the first villain ever shown in the Batman comics.
I recommend seeing both "Batman Forever" (1995) and "Batman and Robin" (1997)!
26:44 At the party. "everyone is got a mask except him" Bruce Wayne is the disguise. He is Batman
I still watch this anytime it's on. Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeiffer were such a great pairing.
I think you'd love Michael Keaton in Multiplicity. A great fun comedy!
Edit: Duck-apitation made me crack up 😂
She really would. It's long but a pretty funny movie, Steve.
Merry Christmas, Mister Wayne."
"Merry Christmas, Alfred. Good will toward men... and women."
I think the Danny Elfman's "Batman Returns" and "Edward Scissorhands" scores are my two favorites of his. The "Selina Transforms" and "Death of a Penguin" pieces are gorgeous, gothic and haunting.
Scrooged is also an incredible Elfman score
Really cool movie, Tim Burton's films are always so artful and dreamlike. Jen, you'd make an awesome "cat broad," "Mee-Ouch!" It took all my discipline to wait a half hour for the best pun ever. I forgot the brilliant Jan Hooks had a small part, I miss her.
