should clarify the woman in that video isn't that cheap. the directors told her to do some things for views. she made a video about how it affected her, and the hate and criticism she got about not just her lifestyle, but her appearance. she seems like a very nice lady in reality.

She has a short interview that she did about the TLC episode saying people called her ugly and nasty. But TLC basically told her to do certain things for entertainment. What she said in that interview almost made me tear up
An apartment like that in New York is probably around $2000 a month, maybe more depending on the area. She’d have to be making at least $6k a month to even qualify for it so there is absolutely no reason for her to need to nickel and dime over a few dollars. She’s doing pretty well

Her name is Kate Hashimoto, Majority of it was heavily exaggerated for views. She is a certified public accountant working in New York and paid for her apartment in 9 months. So it’s safe to say that she is doing better than most people who gave her hate in the comment section.
There is a real interview video, where she talks about how bad her up bringing was and how she never felt wanted/loved by her mum. Whilst it’s true she lives frugally, this fkin show exaggerated it by 50%.
She doesn’t eat dumpster food and definitely does not feed it to her friends, those people were actors. She salvages items that can be used like that chair and does that goods exchange thing.
Really feel like the producers capitalised on her innocence by giving her some sorta false hope, she is the golden goose for them. Absolutely fkin disgusting, they got the whole pie whilst she got the crumbs. She also received hate because of this exaggerated shitshow.
