I flipped out when he started talking about his hot water setup, and then his solar setup. The fact that he has CORRECTLY implemented a dump load for hot water heating in a mobile system, is amazing. Attention RV manufacturers: This guy did it right, please start doing this so I can buy a rig and actually use it for my permanent living situation. Is there a place which you have detailed your setup? I'd be interested to know the equipment choices you made, and details about how you set it all up. Love the van in general, amazing work. Did you do it all yourself or were some things installed by RV service centers?

Yeah it works well I need to make a few minor adjustments but the fact that the AUX kicks in when driving makes it sustainable to warm the water using the Solar
That wiring is awesome - many home installers could learn from that. We tend to end up with a hideous array of cables - power and data - hopelessly intertwined behind the rack. Kudos, Scott.
I think that's the best van setup I've seen todate. Love the magnetic locks on the doors and drawers and the kitchen and bathroom setups are inspired. Go Scott! Thanks for making this vid and showing us around his van.
Okay WOW, I'm super impressed! This is not only useful for vans, but for tiny houses in general, too. I've been thinking about going tiny for a while now and I've been worrying about the solar input and how many things I could power with electricity only and seeing how this dude has a two-burner induction stove AND heats his water with solar in CANADA just about blew my mind. Plus, his van is beautiful, so much storage while it still feels open and super comfortable - love it. The tiny dish rack stuck to the sink lid is genius, too.

I honestly wasn't too impressed with the van first sight just because of all of the storage and counter space taking up so much room but man, this really is a gem! I love the movement of the table and the lights the most. Really though the shower and toilet are a great use of space, especially with the option to shower outside. Love it!
I love seeing what people do with van conversions to fit their own needs. This is definitely my favorite out of all I've seen. A lot of sweet details, and I'm a huge fan of the bench seat & table setup. I don't understand why more people don't do this (I know, personal tastes). My parents had a truck and camper when my sister and I were young, and it had the bench seat & table that converted to a bed. We used the table a lot in the rainy pacific northwest, and I always thought that would be a great setup in a van, and even better with a big window(s) on the sides. Very nice work Scott!
I have made over the years a few camper vans. In the beginning I did not mind that it looked like camper van on the outside, but as more and more cities get up sign abolishing camper parking, I have stopped doing that. Now I have som graphic illustrations of a paint roller, some brushes and ssome stripes of paint. It now looks like a contracter van and I can park everywere. Parking lots outside small/local supermarked are good, and when I shop there and ask the owner, they appreciate having me there as a means against burglars. So sometimes I stay there for a week. Using the rear for toilet I do too. I do not use a toilet concept like yours. Being mostly in cities I need a portable tank where I can ask some friendlies about any chance for emptying it. My toilet door is just 6mm plywood, but it's folded 3 times, so opened totally it closes of as a room. I used also to install showers, but I got to an issue to get enough water and get rid of it again. Staying away from camping sites I normally use a truck stop for clean/grey water and they also have showers. Weight is normally an issue for all conversions.

I've been watching a LOT of van living & RV videos lately, and Scott's is one of the most impressive I've seen to date. Not only is the engineering of the interior ingenious (love that table!), the attention to detail on the electricals just blew me away. The only negative I can come up with is having external water tanks... and he's working on fixing that, too! Scott's Sprinter sets the bar waaaay the heck up there...!

Good use of roof with solar, surf boards and lockable bulky storage. Inside layed out well with table/bed in back, toilet/shower near sink and plenty of storage inside as well. Overhead storage cabinets, good access to electrical panel...I could live in here just fine. What was the antenna he pointed out on top rear of van? Thanks
Thanks for watching Alan. We could also easily live in this space... one of our favourites (besides our own ;P). Scott was pointing at his router antenna for internet. He works for a software company and needs good access to wifi wherever he goes!

Scott has managed to implement many different aspects that I've been contemplating for when I decide to convert my own van. I'll definitely be using this video as an inspiration reference. Plenty of companies out there who offer complete customization, problem is they overprice ridiculously. You'd be much better off privately contracting people to do what you want; like a carpenter to make some cabinets, HVAC guy to do the hot water, etc.
His conversion van was terrific; it had ALL the bells and whistles! The shower was a pleasant surprise and I like that he afforded the option to bathe inside or out... This may be the best CV I've seen on YT👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾.

Thanks Katy! yeah the washroom works perfect for me in the van. Its a full flush toilet with a blackwater tank. The smells aren't that big of an issue most of the time because I use tank treatment. But after about 6 months it builds up and I need to thouroughly clean the tank which takes about an hour otherwise it would start to smell a bit.

Great van build. I'm looking for ideas to implement into my van build. Thanks for the inspiration! I'm a US Army Vet, injured on active duty, the VA is very little help, thus have limited funds at the moment. I will be using my van for a permanent stealth home. Thus must be low budget for the moment. I've heard a lot about the older Sprinters of 2003-05 being very reliable and priced in the $5-$8K range. Has anyone reading this thread heard the same? Do you know of anyone selling one of these in the stated price range under 200K miles? Thanks again for the inspiration....it's making me dream of getting my friends together to get mine built. I loved it all, but most especially the toilet/shower combo (did you consider a composting toilet?). Love the roof rack...it's exactly what I want. The solar system and induction burner are awesome....how many watts in the panels and for your power invertor? Battery config? I've heard 6V golf cart batteries are best, do you agree with that? If you have mobility challenges Dunesport makes RV trailers with wheel chair accessibility (wide doors, rear ramp and mechanical lift)dunesport.com I've heard the same as you RE: 03-06 Sprinters due to limited emissions devices on them. Unfortunately, this is no secret so there are a lot of people (demand) looking for so few available (supply) Sprinters with < 200K miles, well maintained and in good condition. Keep in mind, even though the motors can last for 500K miles, at 200K miles, like any other vehicle, they start to fail, wear out and get expensive for repairs to items other than the diesel motor.
Tim, thanks for the response. Unfortunately I can't afford to have one built by someone else. I have friends whom can help me build it. They work for pizza and beer...I'm sure you know how that goes. I also cannot do a trailer as stealth is essential while taking very little space to park. I have been looking for a few months and have seen a few Sprinters in that price/mileage range but they were sold very quickly as you can imagine.

It is great, apart from the fact that the toilet is just sitting there in open view. Surely you would want it out of sight.

Weight is normally an issue for all conversions.
So far the best van build I have seen. Really dig the clean look and organization of the build.

I have watched so many of these builds and this guy nailed it. This is one of my favorite sprinter conversions I've seen. I wouldn't change much.

This man is a genius, I've watched hundreds of van conversions and I can only think of one that compares which is Adventure in a Backpacks conversion. Scott has managed to implement many different aspects that I've been contemplating for when I decide to convert my own van. I'll definitely be using this video as an inspiration reference. Plenty of companies out there who offer complete customization, problem is they overprice ridiculously. You'd be much better off privately contracting people to do what you want; like a carpenter to make some cabinets, HVAC guy to do the hot water, etc.

Do you mind sharing the gross details, smell truths and how you find dump spots ect? More details on your trip top burner in the kitchen do you use propane? Where do you store that fuel? Thanks Katy! yeah the washroom works perfect for me in the van. Its a full flush toilet with a blackwater tank. The smells aren't that big of an issue most of the time because I use tank treatment. But after about 6 months it builds up and I need to thouroughly clean the tank which takes about an hour otherwise it would start to smell a bit.

Regarding your wet bath. did you purchase the pan with the shower drain and toilet combo if so where did you find it? or did you have to modify an existing shower pan to fit the toilet? Thanks in advance for answering. Your van is excellent!

Great van build. I'm looking for ideas to implement into my van build. Thanks for the inspiration! I'm a US Army Vet, injured on active duty, the VA is very little help, thus have limited funds at the moment. I will be using my van for a permanent stealth home. Thus must be low budget for the moment. I've heard a lot about the older Sprinters of 2003-05 being very reliable and priced in the $5-$8K range. Has anyone reading this thread heard the same? Do you know of anyone selling one of these in the stated price range under 200K miles?
Thanks again for the inspiration....it's making me dream of getting my friends together to get mine built. I loved it all, but most especially the toilet/shower combo (did you consider a composting toilet?). Love the roof rack...it's exactly what I want. The solar system and induction burner are awesome....how many watts in the panels and for your power invertor? Battery config? I've heard 6V golf cart batteries are best, do you agree with that?

I've heard the same as you RE: 03-06 Sprinters due to limited emissions devices on them. Unfortunately, this is no secret so there are a lot of people (demand) looking for so few available (supply) Sprinters with < 200K miles, well maintained and in good condition. Keep in mind, even though the motors can last for 500K miles, at 200K miles, like any other vehicle, they start to fail, wear out and get expensive for repairs to items other than the diesel motor.
Tim, thanks for the response. Unfortunately I can't afford to have one built by someone else. I have friends whom can help me build it. They work for pizza and beer...I'm sure you know how that goes. I also cannot do a trailer as stealth is essential while taking very little space to park.
I have been looking for a few months and have seen a few Sprinters in that price/mileage range but they were sold very quickly as you can imagine.
