- 福井県指定無形文化財 墨流し 保持者・伝統工芸士の福田忠雄氏。墨流しの技術は、平安時代にその歴史を遡ることができるとされます。一度しかできない文様墨流しの文様。織り成す模様は、まさに変幻自在です。

I’m a little confused. Is surface tension good or bad for suminagashi? It prevents ink from spreading far but doesn’t it also prevent the ink from sinking too much (especially if you're mixing your own ink or paint)?
