    The reason that special weapons are arbitrarily restricted is simple:
    GW is basing the wargear options off of what’s in the new cadian box. This is a common thing in 9th ed rules finding its way over to heresy.
    Why? Because Emperor forbid that people just buy multiple copies on the box or *gasp* third party parts.

    It's fun and fluffy, but where the rules were adjusted it's 100% nerf - no power armour grenadiers - barrage/blasts are mostly garbage, no dedicated transports - so you're wasting slots on those. The way the game works now it basically funnels you into lascannon spam if you want to be even mildly competitive. I get that Militia is a rule of cool army, but I am annoyed that there was no thought given to options to buff artillery or tanks via a tank commander or orders, special ammunition etc that could have given at least some option for taking on terminators, etc

Survivors of the Dark Age with allowing land Raiders, Power Armour as well as those S4 CC weapons and S5 Laslocks was a fun army theoretically. Ruthless tyrant is a great warlord trait if your running levi squads, 12" aura of blaming where he can force pass morale checks for 50 man squads is absolutely something ime going to try with blobs of 100+ load em up on frenzon give em bayonets and unending horde for when the squad finally does get destroyed

  • @daniwalmsley611
    @daniwalmsley611 Год назад

    Something to bear in mind when reviewing this list is that whilst the on paper options are limited the rules explicitly are designed for you to use different models than what is listed in the army list, so whilst a single baneblade variant has rules all variants could be fielded model wise. And whilst Guard was the original template the ruleset is designed so you can field whatever models you like so I understand why the list isn'r full of IG units bc they didn't want to make it so you had to (or felt like you had to) use guard models. They definitely compromised the competitiveness of the list in order to give narrative/thematic feel to it.
    I think there's also a feeling of not wanting to put too much time balancing an army they aren't going to sell any books for, and not a lot of people will actually play.
    However, some rules to cover artillery tanks would've been appreciated and maybe anityer flyer option. And I do understand the desire for this to be competitive/viable people have spent time building these armies over the last god knows how many years and waited so long to finally get their 2.0 ruleset and they should be respected.
    But for me, this army has always been for the type of person who would play a heresy army against a 40k army back in 6th/7th even though they were underpowdered bc they love the fluff/lore. This ruleset really leans into the customisation and personalisation and the casual side to heresy rather than the competive side and I love that but other people might not and thats okay

    I kinda want to point out as well that the reason the Militia doesn't get a lot of better vehicles or the ones they do have are so slapdash is because...they are. Its a militia. Its the denizens of some backwater planet who have been told to pick up their arses and defend themselves. Its not a formal military like the Imperial Army, its Bud and Jed and Jeb and their old smell canid getting some of the boys together. If they're lucky enough, Old Lady Maggers might have her trucks up and running. All the better gear was probably taken for the Imperial Army or Horus' forces demanded them.

    You must really get lucky with your opponents concussive tests, you are so confident all those marines are gonna be ws 3...
    For real though just swapping those 3 inch blasts for 5 inch would be a massive help. The demolisher having the same blast as a frag grenade from a grenade launcher just blows my mind.
    Maddest thing in the points costs for me is the fire support squad. 5 space marines with heavy bolters at bs 4 - 100pts, 5 militia heavy bolters at bs 3 - 150pts. OK the militia have double the wounds but worse toughness, worse save and removed from table if fail a test on their worse leadership more than cancels that out.
    Things like the Vanquisher being just flat out better than the Gravis lascannon because they forgot the Sol Aux LR has 2 Gravis Lascannon and that's why it costs the same or the Caiman being flat out better because they forgot the sisters of silence beast handler has light and fleet to make the other beasts useful are just so predictable when they copy paste stuff.
