    I haven't set up my discord yet because I am a small channel and didn't think I had the traffic to make use of it. I'm here today to finally set it up but I just didn't think I had enough subscriptions, concurrent viewers, and my chat lobbies are usually small. Viewers were communicating through chat to each other on my last stream and that is when I saw the potential value of the discord server. Thanks for the video !

    Know this is a bit old by now but the main things that held me back from making a discord:
    1.) moderation, I'm not super knowledgable about discord and I've heard of bots and things trying to get people to share personal info, wanna make sure I don't end up with something dangerous i don't understand!
    2.) not sure how small is too small.. ? I'm in so many discrod servers but I end up inactive in a lot of them
    3. Not sure what channels would be the best for people!

    My man! I need you to do a video on something... is it still worth it to work on Twitch when twitch owns your personal brand contractually when you’re affiliate? That’s bothering me big time! I’m really debating... what are your thoughts?

    • @StreamScheme
      @StreamScheme  3 года назад +3

      The short: You can cancel the contract, unless you want to multistream there aren't major downsides to streaming as an affiliate.
      The long:
      Often people say, "Well Twitch takes a cut of bits and subs so just use paypal" but also people can charge back on paypal, often people set up paypal wrong and leak their personal details. Bits/Subs create hype trains that feature you on the front page of Twitch for the trains time limit, and that costs 300 bits minimum (100 bits a person)... pretty great deal to appear on the home page if you ask me.
      Subs are a way to create regular viewers because they like being there, and get badges/other perks. Gifted subscribers tend to subscribe themselves after a gift month is up because they have spent so much time there while gifted.
      Channel points when used right are great for chat engagement, people who say they aren't either are too big to use them for engagement aka chat too fast they don't need the extra engagement or aren't using them properly for engagement even at the right size.
      Twitch owning your personal brand doesn't mean anything for most people, it only becomes a problem if you become Ninjas size and leave the platform then they keep using his channel to restream fortnite streamers.
      The phrase is scary but at the end of the day, they don't want your personal brand and they won't take your RUclips off you if its under the same name, etc.
      Recently people have been going on this "Affiliate = bad" trend and I've seen people with 10 - 15 average viewers cancel their affiliate and start shouting about how they have woken up, and they've saved "their brand" but they weren't bringing in any viewership, revenue, etc so Twitch doesn't care. The only person they hurt is themselves because often they aren't even multistreaming to other platforms.
      Just my thoughts, I really respect people like Devin Nash who create content and breakdown the pros and cons of something like affiliate, and he had a lot of very interesting points so I'm open to being wrong about this but as far as I see it affiliate isn't a bad thing for most people, and you can cancel anytime.
      That said, the other side of me is "Affiliate doesn't matter unless you're bringing in 50 average viewers and creating good content, anything less and its useless" hahaha
      Hope that helps, sorry for writing the next lord of the rings.

    • @Riosbjj
      @Riosbjj 3 года назад +1

    As always good content. I remember watching a few days ago in a video you had mentioned what discord servers to stay away from as it can hurt your future growth. As I am just getting into the Twitch space and building and talking to communities online I keep getting invited to servers but I want to make sure I am not going to the (bad) ones. If you wouldn't mind helping me by pointing me in the direction of that video again I would be humbled.
    Again, love the videos it has helped me grow from 3 followers to 28 in a matter of 4 days and I've only been active in Twitch for about 3-weeks now. Your tips have helped me change my approach the past 2 weeks as week one I was just all over the place.
    So I thank you.

      The bad ones are just the spammy ones that ask for follow 4 follow and post a lot of go lives :) Glad the videos are helping, sorry for the slow reply! Took some time off this weekend :)

    Haven’t set up a discord server cause just about everybody has one, not that I don’t think it’s essential I just want to make one that’s unique and gives something different that motivates people to use it

    I have a discord and I’m keeping it closed until I get 60 followers I have it all setup and in my opinion it looks nice, it has been a great thing in my streams as people will count down and it’s a great engagement method
    Also to add emojis on the server title you can press the windows key+. And an emoji box will come up to sus what I use.
