Great video! Very informative. You two...Moshix and Prof. Rene' Ferland...make a good team. I'd like to point out one thing, at around 13:32, where you are modifying the hercules config file, you say "I'm going to tell you the address [0230] and explain to you where to get the information" but unless I missed it you never said where you got that address. I assume you probably got that address by searching for an unused [not defined elsewhere in the hercules config file] 2314 defined in the "DMKRIO ASSEMBLE" file in the VM maint account. Correct?
I didn't know what the submit script is. So what I did was issue "devinit 00c 3505 sockdev" at hercules and use HERCRDR 127.0.0.1:3505 sys-init2314.jcl to submit the job. It worked!
Check here: www.hercules-390.eu/hercrdr.html to see how to submit a job in a Unix environment. My command submit uses the last method (the netcat program).
I learned PL/1 in the last 70's in college, never used it outside of that. I used DOS/VSE professionally for decades. Thanks for memories.
Thanks for watching
As always Rene does a great job.
To "unpatch" the compiler, simply change the order of the VERs and REPs then change the REP to VER and VER to REP. Been there, done that!

You are right, I got the address from DMKRIO ASSEMBLE B on MAINT. Glad you like the video, René
