I bought a Club Booster V2 in May of 2020 and it's been wonderful not having to push my clubs around the course. I now get to stroll as "R2D2" does all the work. Yes, mine has a name thanks to a cart girl who's apparently a Star Wars fan. For the most part I'm satisfied with my V2, but it does have a few downsides that potential buyers should be aware of. 1) See the two boxes in the video, that's what you have to lug around with you every time you use it, as well as your golf bag. 2) You have to assemble and disassemble it each time you use it. You don't just pull it out of your trunk, sit it on the ground, unfold it, set your bag on it and go. 3) If you use a cart bag, you're probably going to have to buy a 2nd push cart. When you are just practicing (range, chipping green, etc), you most likely won't want to carry your bag or use the V2. It's a little inconvenient and overkill. 4) If the push cart you currently have has a stationary front wheel, I recommend purchasing one with a rotating front wheel just to use with the V2. I have used both types with my V2 and there's no comparison to the performance with the rotating front wheel. 5) Occasionally, the V2 doesn't respond to the remote control. I'm pressing buttons and it just sits there. I've learned that when that happens to power it down and back up. 6) About 6 weeks ago, I noticed a significant decline in my battery's performance. I'm now walking up the 18th fairway with only the last power indicator light lit, which had typically been 2 or more. I reached out to Alphard to see if this is normal. If not, what can be done to resolve it. I'll supply an update on how their customer service / technical support departments perform.
The technical support department responded quickly. After I described my issue in better detail and answered a few questions, they suggested that I trickle-charge the battery for 48 hours. Then, just before using it, put it back on the charger for a quick top off. This appears to have resolved the problem. Last Saturday, I finished the round with 2 lights, which is right on par with how it had been performing.
This has been my favorite golf purchase! I have walked way more and really enjoy walking the course without breaking my back! Used a coupon code and got it for even cheaper, love it!!

I have one and it is straight up amazing! Most bang for your buck in the powered golf cart arena. I use a BagBoy three wheel cart and I am able to lock the front wheel from turning on the big hills. When on flat land a three wheel cart is by far more responsive than a four wheel cart. My friend has the four wheel cart and it works just fine. When turning it just pushes the front wheels side to side. If I had a four wheel cart I wouldn’t spend the money on buying a three wheel cart for the convenience buy if I had to choose because I was buying one with the powered wheels I would get the three wheel cart. I'm heading into my 4th year with the V1 model on a Rovic cart. I find that the steering is much more consistent when the front wheel is locked. Less side to side motion meals fewer steering corrections and the motors are more than powerful enough to overcome any resistance from side pulls on a hill. After 3 full seasons my battery still has enough life to have about 50% capacity after 18 holes!

I was an early backer and paid significantly less than the retail price. This is a game changer for me, as I love to walk but pushing my cart caused back and shoulder soreness and stiffness. I also received the TFS (Tether Follow System} which eliminated the need for the remote, except when you wanted to send the cart to the next tee box. A wireless follow device is in development, and I plan on getting it when it is available.

Hey, that’s my home course! Glad you took it up #5, I’m pushing a Sun Mountain Pathfinder 4 up now and thinking of going electric. About 80% of weekend mornings golfers walk there, and about 25% of those have electric push carts. One thing I love that you didn’t mention, most of the other electric push carts (MGI, Bat Caddy) have almost no storage on cart. Converting a SM or a Clicgear gives you console storage, net bag, and even a pouch on SM. The price is still a little high compared to other electrics.

On the really steep hills..the V2 will sometimes want to turn on you. If you leave the gyro turned on (orange light) and want to help it along with you hands…the gyro will want to correct the path…and will basically fight you. To guide the cart with your hands…make sure you turn off the gyro. This is also the case when you are navigating a tight path through trees. Turn off the gyro..then turn it back on when you are on flatter terrain. MSG…you might also want to check out the TFS system..it is definitely a game changer. It is a Bluetooth tether system…the cart will follow you. It is a physical tether that uses a magnet to attach to a metal clip on your belt of back pocket. Alphard is also about to release a wireless version that will follow along beside you. I've put over 200 rounds on my V2…absolutely love it!
V2 is great on flat courses... even better on hilly courses... where pushing up hill was a killer... I play just a little north of your home course.. wheelie bars and a movable front wheel a must. Use a clicgear 3.5 with the v2.

I recently upgraded from V1 to V2 and have a a clicgear 3.0. I can't get the v2 to turn right at all. It is so frustrating. I am considering a Rovic or spending the money on a stewart follow.
Turn the gyroscope feature on and it will track straight on side hill lies. As for more speed, there are six speed settings, just click the up arrow on the remote to increase to each level and back arrow to slow to the previous level. On speed 3, my cart is already out pacing me on a brisk walk.

I have one of these was one of the original backers and it’s the best unit especially for the price. The new wireless tether that’s coming out soon puts this up there as one of the best in my opinion. Thanks great video as always.
Mgi zip navigator AT Costco bundle is still light-years ahead of this crap. You still need a cart to go with it and the mgi zip navigator AT Costco bundle is only 1300 during sale and comes with all the awesome accessories like seat and umbrella holder this is not relevant except for the US market mgi zip navigator AT Costco bundle has been covered by mr short game before and it's better in every way.

I have a regular rovic and I have noticed that to go up hills normally, its much easier to lock the front wheel. I know that with a motor you'd have to then go and unlock it so it would turn again, but I think that would significantly help with the uphill performance
I have version 1. I think I bought it 3 summers ago. It’s great. My club now carries them. I use it with my Sun Mt speedcart (so front wheel locked). Just don’t carry the remote in your pocket (especially near water). And even with wheelie bars I suggest keeping a hand on the cart so it doesn’t tip over.
Congratulations you have been selected among among our shortlisted winners from our previous giveaway shortlisted winners from our previous giveaway, contact the number above...................................✔️
I think when the trolley moves up the hill if the front wheel is fixed at that time instead of swivel mode, the cart would move well hill up. The Rovic model Rovic RV1S can adjust the front wheel by a lever to have front wheel fixed or swivel.
I have one of the original versions, and have updated the motherboard to V2.. LOVE this thing.. And that cup holder will hold your cup. Just stretch the plastic out a bit.. it holds it tight every time. The magneto on this thing keeping it level on hillsides is clutch, and worth every penny.. you didn't turn it on when on that big hill.. There is an orange light on the unit to show you have it on. the Rovic with the swivel wheel is the only way to go. And you dont need the wheelie bars if you get that cart.
Congratulations you have been selected among among our shortlisted winners from our previous giveaway shortlisted winners from our previous giveaway, contact the number above...............................✔️
To push it you have to put it in free wheel mode by holding the middle button for 3 seconds and a light will blink in the middle of the v2. Then just push any button when you are done pushing and it’ll go back to what it was before
If you are going down a side hill with the ewheel, turn off the front wheel pivoting ability then you can hang on with one hand and the cart will go straight
I have the earlier model. Was an early backer and got it for a good price. Overall it’s a great option for getting into the remote trolleys. I used it with the rovic swivel and if the front wheel was not in free wheel mode it popped off its axel. The other issue is the brackets would break sometimes. I’d still recommend it. It is a good product. But I went to the mgi as a more solid cart

Didn't dig through all of the comments, so sorry if this is a repeat, but have you seen a product called Caddie Wheel? Similar but a much more elegant design IMHO. Interested in what you think.
great review.......seems like it'd be much better with Pneumatic tires.....air filled/ "rubber" for traction. only really skimmed your vid.....hows it do downhill/ braking???
One comment on the hills (and elsewhere)... if you're using the remote, don't force the turning (you can burn out the motors as it tries to correct against your turning to "keep straight" because of the built in gyro - yeah, it's that smart). It can be easily guided using one hand on the remote and one on the cart, if you have to... all you have to do is stabilize it on the most severe hills and use the remote to turn and move (like in the video), and at that only sometimes. I usually remote to the path, and around back to the green or ball. I would do the same with a push cart as to not kill myself going up hills. ;)

Looks like a decent product but I noticed the struggle on the steep hill so that seems it defeats the purpose. You also failed to mention how the battery life after the round. I bought the MGI zip navigator and my Home course has a lot of hills and I have no issues with it going up the hills or the battery life. After my last round it still showed fully charged👍 Keep up the great reviews and I bought my push cart after watching your reviews👍
I purchased one of these during Black Friday sales, have used it now twice. There are 5 lights showing battery power. After each of the 18 hole courses (full size), I've had 3 of the 5 lights still lit, showing I've used less than half the battery. I'll be playing 36 holes one day in the near future, will see if it makes it through all of them. I walked a hilly, very wet course on Friday. I use the tether system. I found that when I took it slow on the very steep parts, it would climb right up. If I went too fast, the wheels would start spinning and it would pop a wheelie. I am using it with the CaddyTek CaddyLite ONE V8 sold at Costco. I'm very happy with the package!

I’ve see a few of the powered carts on the course I play. Do you guys have issues with adjusting the direction often? It seems it would be cumbersome to keep watching it and adjusting its movement so it doesn’t go into the trees, off the path, or in the water as it goes.

Nice review. I walk 99% of the time (1% when playing in an office tournament with everyone on carts). I’ve had both hips replaced and have DBD, so need to keep moving on the course. Still can’t get used to seeing remote carts roaming the course. Just looks odd to me….I’d like a power assisted cart better that doesn’t cost as much. In other words, like the modern e-bike where I’m pushing it most of the time on flats and downhills, and then just a throttle to turn while pushing up hills to take off that weight. Otherwise, I don’t see why you’d need a full on remote control cart. They are fairly heavy pieces of gear, so if you can get it out of your car, probably can do with just pushing the cart for a round, but help up the hills would be nice. Just my two cents. I’m sure I’m not far from needing something like this as I’ll avoid riding a cart as long as possible.

Matt: Love your educational videos. One of the knocks against power club carriers like this ... If your battery dies and you push/pull the cart by hand, you can ruin the gears. I didn't hear you address whether or not this cart will freewheel if the battery dies and you need to push it by hand. I may have missed this, too ... how many rounds can you get in before recharging is required. Thanks!
Gene: There is a free-wheel mode. Press and hold the stop button on the remote for 3 seconds (red light on the Club Booster V2 unit will flash) and you can then push the cart without any resistance as if it's not powered. You can then re-engage the power by hitting any button on the remote when you want to exit the free-wheel mode. Free-Wheel is good for very tight spots on the course like if crossing a narrow bridge or any other tight precarious spot on your course. Naturally, if the battery fails mid round free-wheel mode would also come in handy although that has never happened to me as I always fully charge the V2 before using and can get about 27 holes out of it on a full charge.

MGI makes great carts and I've had the zip navigator for 2 years however.... The new follow features on the v2 Alphard for $1300 investment cannot be best
The V2 has a gyroscope so that when you are heading down a fairway with a left to right or right to left slope, it holds the line. His review incorrectly stated it will slant.

Yes, technology is helping people make great "toys", but in the last 2-3 years playing different courses I've only seen 2 guys with remote carts. I would think that if you can drop $900 for this you'll just be riding in a cart and not have the hassle. If you really want to walk a course, you'll just use your push cart. I think that the market is rather small for this but as always I enjoy your reviews.👍
I got mine to mainly to get more exercise, but I really found I enjoy having everything right on the cart with me when I get to the ball. Nothing worse than cart path only and being on the opposite side. Plus I save a significant amount of money on cart fees. Not sure where you are, but I see a lot of walkers at courses around ATL. The course where he made this video sees about 60% of players walking.

Good review. If I was going to use a motor driven push cart I would seriously consider it. I am an American living in Italy. Everyone here uses a push cart. Everyone. Many are motorised. Very few carry their bag and not many driving a cart. However, In the US, you either carried or drove. Never a pull/push cart. Only losers did that. Maybe things are different there now. Here, I walk and carry my bag. At age 76 I need the exercise. At my club there are only 5 bags stored out of say 150 that are not on a pull cart.

Me thinks for $700.00± dollars, my money is better spent elsewhere. (I'd rather spend it on my coach). If I can still walk, I can still push it myself. Not to mention the 5 ton truck needed to haul all this stuff around and the hassle of setting it up when you get to the course. Alright for some, not for me.
I agree. If you want something faster you might as well drive a golf cart. If you're a frequent golfer chances are you already have a country or local club membership and you get discounted green/cart fees anyway.
Clubs, cart and V2 fit in the back of my Subaru Impreza. Don't need a truck. Sure, it may not be for you, but for me with a sporadic back issue, all I have to do now is push a button vs pushing 30-40 lbs up a hill, or the bigger issue for me, I don't have to hold the cart while going down a hill. I agree with the money, though. This doesn't help you swing better. It does keep you a bit more relaxed for 18 holes though.

Love the fact you can connect it to other push carts not just the 1, brilliant idea that is

I think when the trolley moves up the hill if the front wheel is fixed at that time instead of swivel mode, the cart would move well hill up. The Rovic model Rovic RV1S can adjust the front wheel by a lever to have front wheel fixed or swivel.
Front end kit for the clicgear works very well. Very stable
Have you tried it on a cart that has a front wheel that does not swivel? I am curious to how well it will turn without a swivel wheel.
Then just push any button when you are done pushing and it’ll go back to what it was before
Great review! Wondering how it does on wet grass with the morning dew? Do you ever find traction to be an issue?
If you are going down a side hill with the ewheel, turn off the front wheel pivoting ability then you can hang on with one hand and the cart will go straight
I have the earlier model. Was an early backer and got it for a good price. Overall it’s a great option for getting into the remote trolleys. I used it with the rovic swivel and if the front wheel was not in free wheel mode it popped off its axel. The other issue is the brackets would break sometimes. I’d still recommend it. It is a good product. But I went to the mgi as a more solid cart

Did you have the gyroscope on? If so, I don’t believe you would have had that issue when going up steep hill or side hill

I would do the same with a push cart as to not kill myself going up hills. ;)

Thank you for the review. This is my next purchase. Sweet truck.
Will the booster work on the bag boy nitron without a front wheel that swivels?

Mr Short I wish you would do a review on Caddytrek R2 or R3! I like your content!!!
Seems nice I would buy extra remote clip and use it for my gps so when I got to ball the numbers are already set and I can seem them when I walk up.

Thanks!
The V2 can be free wheeled, no problem.

It would be interesting to compare this model to one sold by Costco for $899 - MGI Zip X2 Electric Golf Cart Bundle.
i have the zip navigator and it's fantastic, I would think the X2 would be also
MGI makes great carts and I've had the zip navigator for 2 years however.... The new follow features on the v2 Alphard for $1300 investment cannot be best
I bet with a locking front wheel- it would be more stable/straight driving in extreeme uphill and side hill situations.
The V2 has a gyroscope so that when you are heading down a fairway with a left to right or right to left slope, it holds the line. His review incorrectly stated it will slant.
Going up the hill could you not lock the wheel makes me wonder if it could go up the hill then? Best part of rovic
I’m curious about those thank you for reviewing.

Sick 4Runner
Welcome back Dad.
