- If this video helps you, please consider subscribing, it would really help! This video is a how to on installing a Tusk fan kit onto a 2008 Yamaha WR450F. Other years also apply. There's no direct bolt on kit, so I did my best to get as close to bolt on as we can on these bikes. What it takes, what you need to modify on the kit and the motorcycle for a clean well thought out install.
This is a very instructive video. Was my self looking to get a fan on my 2014 model and you came with this briliant video.
Thank you for the share.
My pleasure! Glad you liked it.
Going to attempt to tackle this with an oversized tank. Might be too tight now that I have the fan in hand and looking at it closer. Thanks for a great video.
Nice work! Any kind of a long term review? Any changes you would make? Are you at all concerned about vibrations of the fan against the radiator? Did you wind up putting foam between the two? Thanks for the video!
I should do a video like that, good idea. So far it's been really good. No signs at all of wear where the fan touches the radiator. I think it's because they are connected and can't vibrate separately. I didn't use any foam, it's still exactly how it is in the video. If anything, I may add another fan to the other side. I just don't think one is enough. I'm not sure the stator can take 2 though, have to look into that.
You should mass produce these brackets. I would buy them.
Mine is an 05 Steel Frame and one of the radiator hoses is in the way. Not sure how I am going to get this to work. Is it a pull fan? I ask because I may need to mount it in front of the radiator
Yes, it is a pull type but you can reverse the polarity and make it a pusher fan. You just have to watch for things getting into the fan like rocks and what not.
@@DoesItTrack Thanks for the reply, I may need to see if I can modify my front covers to help with that.
@@leodano2947 Are they the stock plastic ones or the aluminum aftermarket? Should be pretty easy to cut I would think.
@@DoesItTrack Yup, got Dremel, lol. Going to work on this over the weekend.
I have a steel 03 wr450f.
I run the trail tech fan on the right side radiator.
I run the temp meter on the right side as well.I also run a trail tech voyager temp probe inline on the left radiator return hose.
This allows the fan to cool the fluid immediately after it leaves the cylinder and seems to work better than delaying action to the other side of the flow stream. With the voyager probe on the left,it allows me to set fan temp at 185f on the right (fan) side of radiators and have a tattle tale probe on the dash that lets me know the temp heading back into the engine or more importantly when set to 190f it lets me know the fan should be on and monitor it's function.
Lots to think about.
Any chance you can send me the part number on the fan you used? Great fabrication by the way
You bet. It's this one. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/tusk-digital-radiator-fan-kit-p
Do you happen to have the part number of the kit you used?
It was this one.. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/tusk-digital-radiator-fan-kit-p
