Nocturne is the quintessential of Chopin's music. Some melodies on rubato always make me cry.. So appreciated to GOD that I was born in time of youtube so I can hear this kind music whenever I want to.
Absolutely beautiful. Best version I’ve heard. He’s got such passion.. I’m debating on whether to learn this next. I shed a few tears, especially on those last chords. It’s like this piece was the ups and downs of his whole life, the fast moving fame, the crazy but nice relationship he had with George Sand, the sadness, loss and homesickness he had felt but also the euphoric fame when he was in Paris etc. I feel like it’s all captured in this one piece, then right at the end he embraces his death. This piece really does make me cry..
I think this set is the loveliest chopin ever wrote, he is a very dear man and will always be in my heart. I'm sometimes afraid of his music because it is so beautiful and I'm ugly
This is also one of my favourite nocturnes. The fact that you are able to appreciate this piece already makes you beautiful.
@@StuartdeOcampo Last ones he wrote im pretty sure too
@@StuartdeOcampo Those weren’t the last ones he wrote. In fact, op 72 no 1 was his first.
@@StuartdeOcampo There’s no Op 72 no 2 nocturne
If you love and play this nocturne, you are by definition a beautiful person with an equally beautiful soul.
3:00 makes me cry. so beautifull!
Hardest chopin nocturne played perfectly. Congrats.
I like how Chopin leads us back!

Love this one I want to play it. d flat nocturn is hard to
I think op62 n1 is more difficult
Guys, Op 48 no 1 in C minor.
This is a very expressive and contagious interpretation (while holding back some musical energy at the same time & achieve the effect); defintely love it!
Indeed Charles is very mature...actually I'd say DEEP. As a person and in music. So no worries - he'd carry his (guaranteed) fame well ! And to those who say "no special feelings": please keep in mind that real playing is not about fireworks and forced originality. It is about going deep and understanding music. Charles does it better than any other pianist at the Chopin Competition.
This is the most expressive and touching interpretation of this nocturne I’ve heard so far.
Very simple and clean. Therefore I think very beautiful perfomance.
This is such a good version of the nocturne! I’m playing this piece too! 🎀💕😂
excellent interpretation
Authoritative, beautiful interpretation (amazing there can be so many). Especially enjoyed the Agitato of the E Major. Too many pianists slow down but his tempo was spot on.
Just a touch faster than I personally like it but flawless and definitely heartfelt nonetheless. Bravo sir!
Charles Richard-Hamelin...amazing. His rubato is like Rubinstein's. You cannot learn it - you have to have it. Charles has to win !
+Ivonas Garden Yes or I don't know what is good piano playing !
+Ivonas Garden I agree. I think this talent is rare nowadays, no eccentric strange aideas, no stupid facial expressions, just very sincere, great unity through a piece, such dedication to music. After all, his musicality is very matured! I hope juries are wise enough to let him win, but at the same time I have mixed feelings that if he should win...because then he will have horribly busy days as a winner, which is not an ideal situation to develop his artistry to be even better pianist in future.
No stupid faces? Just look at the thumbnail dude. Lol
Wouldn’t having musicality allow you to have good judgement on rubato?
A Man Has No Name I think rubato is very personal, personally whenever I see rubato in the one of the coda of the ballade 1,2,4 , I hate it but the pianist himself feels it this way.
Mr Richard-Hemelin's way of playing Chopin recalls that of the great Claudio Arrau, who made gravity a virtue. Charles is like Atlas, carrying the weight of the world on his shoulder. This is an unusually heavy reading of this nocturne and as a result, it digs deeper than most. RUclipsrs looking for nice and beautiful music should look elsewhere; this is a lament, the last nocturne Chopin wrote for publication and a farewell to life. A performance of this nocturne fails if it does not bring a tear to your eyes.
take it easy guy
Totally right and I did shed a tear, especially on those last chords. This piece really does make me cry.. you’re so right
Dude I honestly prefer lighter playing.
A great performance.
Ivan... Charles dull ? Wake up, wake up !!!!!! Charles is one the the most exciting players. In a very sophisticated way, mind you.
Superior interpretation.
Beautiful
2:30 best scene
😮stunning piece❤❤
This is underated Nocturne and im very love it than Nocturne op 9 no 2
The Nocturnes are my favorite from Chopin though I love most of his works. Op 9 No 2 I love dont get me wrong but its way too overplayed and used all over media like it's just another classical piece, and it isn't which is why I can only listen to Op 9 No 2 a few times before having to change my music. I do believe this Nocturne is heavily underrated, certainly being the last Nocturne composed by Chopin makes this piece special.
At 1:08, watch the guy in the center of the screen
haha!
Is he feeling the music hahaha.
"Arrgghh this piece is so emotional, but I don't wanna cry"
なんてなんてなんて綺麗なのだ。アムランさんの18が大好きですねん。
4.03 che interpretazione!!! magnifica!!!
I regularly listen itaaaa
Amazing
Is he the son of Marc Andre Hamelin ? If so, I cannot find this fact anywhere online, perhaps intentionally.
Could anyone tell me what kinds of the yamaha he played? C series or G series or sth else?
I agree it sounds like a CFX, where both the skills and talents of Bosendorfer and Yamaha combined to make a superb piano, one of the best ever built.
❤❤❤

I'm a small scale vlogger and I love this song... Can I use a recording of this in my vlogs?
Unfortunately we do not share those recordings for such purposes.
Classical music isn’t copyrighted
But this performance is.
Like me message ❤!
It's a fine peformance and he's a great pianist but I have to say I find this lacks feeling for me. It doesn't move me very much
Good sonority and phrasing from the beginning. However the left hand melody leading up to the agitato could be more expressive. The intended introspection was not fully conveyed, making the music rather dull.
I’d like to see you do better
way too fast in the middle section
Too much reverb on the recording, and often, much pedal.
I don't like Rubinstein
Shut up
Why not yell is why, pointless saying it otherwise? 😂
gay
average. no special feeling
Pffff... was fine for me. I prefer this than overly acting of "special feeling".
There no need for any special feeling
This is a sloppy hot mess.
I don't like Rubenstein
Oh, I don't like Justin Biber, but who cares, no one of them is in this video.
His version is good
