      Hey guys! Thanks so much! We crossed from Carabelle in November, went to Clearwater, Bradenton, Captiva, and then across Okachobee and up the east coast to Daytona to be with family for Thanksgiving. We are currently home in Nashville for Christmas but the boat is at Halifax Harbor there in Daytona awaiting our return. We are going back to her mid January, then drive over to the Looper Rendezvous and then cruise back south to the Keys and Bahamas for the winter. What’s your plans?

    It’s so fun to see areas we explored by land when we were traveling full time in our Rv. We were in Red Bay, Alabama and went through Iuca and Florence to name a couple on our day trips exploring. Now that we are preparing for our next adventure of the Great Loop we are excited to see these same areas by water.

The generator is also diesel and it eats about a gallon per hour. We use it mostly at night when we need to stay cool or warm at anchor and when we get up and need to run that energy robbing Keurig coffee maker!

    To address the Mayflies and fishing. The Mayflies are actually bad for fishing. The fish eat the Mayflies as they fly up from the bottom mud and they are plentiful. So the fish are full and the bite really sucks during the Mayfly hatch.

    I see you have a Great Loop Burgee so is this another loop trip ? Some of the locks I’ve been through have slime on the walls and it would get on my fenders. I started wrapping them with a trash bag when going through a lock. I lived in Tennessee for 36 years and rain and thunderstorms in April to early May is normal. They are often accompanied by tornadoes so keep check on weather advisories. I’ve road through two tornadoes at the marina I’m at in Nashville one in 2017 totally destroyed my dock and I was own my boat. Got lucky with minimal damage on my boat. Love your videos.

      Thanks so much! Yes, we are still on the Loop. My wife wants to stretch it out over three years because she wants to do Key West and the Bahamas for a second time this winter we had so much fun this past winter. We went on down the Tombigbee, crossed the Gulf, did the Keys, spent two months on Key West, then the Bahamas and every place in between. we are now tucked in behind St. Simon's Island in Brunswick, GA waiting for hurricane season to pass so we can cruise back south and do it again before continuing north on the Loop. There's no rush. We keep reminding ourselves AFF. All For Fun! BTW, we own a slip at Commodore Yacht Club in Nashville and live in Franklin. But we have been gone for 2 years now cruising. We've put over 11,000 miles on the boat in the last few years!

    Did you maintain a cost for the river travel What was the cost to go through all those locks .?
    I'm looking at a Sailboat in tennessee which would be simpler to transport south Along the waterwaste and down into the tom bigbee.

    • @CruisingSonchaser
      @CruisingSonchaser  Месяц назад +1

      Believe it or not, all of the lock are free to go through. It's one of those great services like the National Parks. We did make it down the Tombigbee, across the Gulf, to the Keys (almost never left there we loved Key West so much), then to the Bahamas and are now on the GA coast. The toughest thing on the entire trip is short water on the rivers and ICW. My advice and I have learned along the way is to look for good weather (1ft seas) and go outside in the ocean VS the ICW. There are SO many spots in FL that if you are off the very center of the channel, you are in trouble. So, the more we travel, the more we go outside. Just did that as well on our last leg to St. Simons and it was so much less stress. Have fun man!

    • @CruisingSonchaser
      @CruisingSonchaser  6 месяцев назад

      We are in Daytona Beach now. Let's see if I can remember. we went from Florence to Iuka, MS. Then to Midway, then Columbus, then to anchorage, then Demopolis, then two more anchorages, so 12 locks on the TomBigbee and about 7 cruising days at about 10 mph. It's a slow got because you just never know how long you will wait at each lock. the final lock, we waited 2 hours. Some days you have 4 locks to go through. It's a nice trip though.
